When troop strength is poor, and it is, along with moral, it would seem to disband a unit is serious enough. Then to redistribute the personnel into unaffected units is akin to spreading the plague. Ukraine must really be scrapping the barrel.

It's just been error after error on Ukraine's part after the disastrous 2023 Spring Offense campaign.

ukraine can´t win a full scale military operation with russia (no nukes)
so they have to enforce a "remis"-situation with/via higher russian loses (than current)
they spent probably 1/3 of their offensive equipment and ~ 40 % of their infantry ressources
a well-operated defensive battle-plan could give them time to accumulate a relevant counter-effect-force
.... i doubt this is working well right now
and the ukrainian "masters" may just want to do some more damage to russia and its black sea position

The battles west and NW from Avdiivka toward Pokrovsk and the the T504 road are taking on the appearance of a large scale mopping up operation as Russia takes the squad, platoon, and company sized strong points in the hamlets, towns, and villages north and south of the T511 road.

@@user-nm5nr1qy9m I believe that's why he would be disappointed. It was already Russian or Soviet territory, so to lose it again and fight for it again is just awful. The day the soviet union disbanded was a tragedy for the world. Russia needs to go all the way to Iceland and take Odessa and link with Transnistria.

Robotyne was a linchpin of Ukranian defense on the front.
The frontline positions to east of Ocheretyne - especially along the railroads was an extremely well prepared defensive position. While the battle of Avdiivka was going on, those positions along the railway were considered extremely powerful and nothing to assault in a casual way.
Whatever went wrong with the 115 Ukrainian Brigade in that area, I find it doubtful that it had anything to do with the strength of its defensive positions.
I don't think there is a doubt that Russia will take these towns and cities you mention only a matter of time 🤔

I would disagree with Weeb Union for the important cities, the main city that controls a lot of territory is Kostyantynivka, not Novomykhailivka, because if Kostyantynivka falls everything between Velika Novosilka and Mar'inka would be unusable road and empty terrain. For Russians it doesn't even need Kostyantynivka to fall but simply to be at artillery range to be bombarded and road that goes throught the city to be unusable.
