Done with Play Arts kai.....they are pushing the $ envelope into Hot Toys arena and NO WHERE even close to the realism / likeness. I know its apples to oranges here. 3-4 years ago I thought Play Arts was on to something ......PASS. Thank you for the very direct and honest review.
I don't think so Bottom line Play Arts Kai are now pushing the $150.00 mark.........Epic Fail for what is being offered. To each their own.
Man that's....devastating. But a review's a review, and your's are some of the most honest and critical out there and I really admire that from a reviewer. Personally though, the figure came out looking pretty good for the most part, and the cape as frustrating as it may be was expected to be as stylized as that coming from PAK. I guess another feature of the figure I like is that it can be easily distinguished from the rest of the Batman Kais since it really has a different look to it. Anyways, good review as always Anthony and keep it up!

+Animated Heroes the last time I buy a play art kai was the bat girl. and the price was only 60 to 70, right now new figures are like 100 and more.

Guys let's be serious for a moment ! This figure looks a lot more better than the Batman Arkham knight one ...
I think this figure is meant to look dirty because he pretty much looked the same way in the movie, classical yet simple Dark Knight Returns inspired costume with dirt and crap on him, his armor is pretty much cloth anyway too XD Arkham Knight Batgirl on the other hand looks like a thing of beauty.
I had exactly the same process with you with play arts kai. I'm so done with their anti consumer practises. Their figures have so many qc problems and just general low build quality at a grossly high price. I mean, this barely looks better than a Marvel legends figure and worse than a neca figure, both of which are about a quarter of the price!
Maybe Japanese people prefer these stylized capes. I like them but the problem comes when you want to open it and there's a gap. And I guess that brown paint is supposed to be dust, but it doesn't look good. Some people say you're nitpicking and always make hate reviews, but I really appreciate you act as a professional reviewer and give us an honest opinion. The figure may not look that bad once you get it posed, but for that high price you should get much more quality. At least their Variant line was good in most of the cases.
By the way, do you think you'll review some of the Mafex BvS or new Mezco's 12 Collective? They all look really good.
When I saw this in my sub box I immediately clicked it cuz I was expecting it to be good,but when I saw it on the turn table I pretty much new it was bad
I find it funny that a lot of people have negative things to say about your "negative" reviews Anthony. But honestly none of what you said is unreasonable... I tell you what is unreasonable and deserves a tsunami of negative comments, increasing the price of a product and producing an even lower quality product. Seriously, no true fan of Play Arts Kai or even a new consumer can justify the price for the product. I hate what they've done to this line especially since I was really looking forward to the Timeless Batman line. So thank you man for helping me decide NOT to spend $200 on the Steampunk Variant. Hopefully you'll still review the Bushido Batman, I definitely think I'll pick up the Spartan one after your positive review.
Great one of my favorite toy companies and you're the only one who reviews them........so let down i actually expected more from the guys who gave me an EXCELLENT Raiden figure.....
I couldn't finish that movie. I walked out and started playing video games. My daughter's were hyped to see that movie and walked out too. We got the movie for 3 bucks after it came to DVD. And we did the same thing at home. We literally can't tell you anything about that movie.
Weird, it is a very entertaining movie.

It legit makes me sad to see what Play Arts Kai have become.
The last ones I got were Venom Snake, Quiet and D-Dog with the rubber chest and gabs so big you can stick your finger in it. Unacceptable for the high price point and it was pretty much then and there that I decided I was done with it. There were a couple of figures I was interested in but watching your reviews has saved me quite a lot of money when it comes to recent Play Arts Kai releases.
Thanks for the honest feedback. I'm glad I didn't order this. I was so tempted with the whole Dawn of Justice line but the price is way too high for PAK type of figures. I did PO Wonder Woman coz I love the costume design. Hope they fix all the bad stuffs before releasing her
I still have the DC play arts Kai variant Batman red edition. I enjoy that figure, and it looks better to me than this one based on BvS. I wish they put more thought into where they placed the joints for this one.

the best figures square enix can do is with their own ips. the kingdom hearts figures and most of their final fantasy figures are quite nice.
This is why I'm sticking to Mafex, Figuarts, and Mezco. I never was big on these figures anyways since they're out of scale with my other 1:12 scale figures.
Just from the promo shots for this Batman, I knew it was going to suck. But I didn't think it was going to suck this bad. So glad I didn't waste my money on that turd. Of the 3 BVS figures, the only one I'm interested in is Wonder Woman.

Best on screen representation of Batman and somehow no fucking one can make a good figure to represent an amazing representation. Fuck thta was a fuckload of the word representation, and fuck.

i think this figure is badass my only issue is why playarts is making all these variants that never exsisted in series minus this and some figures like spartan batman or mechsuit batman remindes me of tmnt and other brands that market weapons and schemes that never exsisted to get some cash. nothing wrong with a what if but some of them are not cannon and look weird

Hey Anthony, do you have any figures from the Rogues Gallery line? In my opinion, those are the best looking ones. Joker-Batman and Mr. Freeze-Batman look amazing. I hope a Riddler-Batman is next.
I appreciate the honest reviews though. These figures are overwhelming at first, you want to buy all of them, but your videos brought me back down to earth. I just got a handful of my favorite ones. By the way, 75% off sale on select figures on NA site, and they just restocked today.

Agree! i already didn't like this figure when i saw the released photos. kinda doubtful that the armored batman will be good. i'm hopeful that superman will be okay but i think the wonder woman figure will be good. these are all just based on the released photos of the figures.
Nice review! Almost bought this figure, but then when I saw one in actual, I was like "cripes, this figure's really small!" I compared it to the other Play Arts figure in the store, and it's like the PAK Variant Harley Quinn could easily knock him out with one flick of a finger. I'm getting the Wonder Woman BVS figure, but I won't take it out of the package, I'll let it stay MISB.
Now I'm just praying they don't mess up the armored batman... By the way when does the armored batman come out?

I've never liked the way PAK does capes. Would be much better if they used clothed capes, in my opinion. Personally, I have only 3 PAK figures, which are the Assassin's Creed figures. They look good in my opinion, but they still have some flaws though. I only go them because I am a AC fan, but I was thinking of getting a few more. Though, I have seen quite a few videos on their figures before those I already have, as well as some of the ones after. Honestly, Im not all that impressed by most of them. And now as Im hearing all the complains and issues about the newer releases, I found it best to skip on PAK all together. I've never liked the floating pieces that creates those huge gaps at all. Thats why I'll rather stick with the 1/6 scale figures and clothed outfits. With that said, even the 1/6 scale figures are starting to go downhill for me. Less accessories and higher prices... Hot Toys used to have some cheap figures back in the day, but then they got hold of some high end licenses and got popular, which drove the prices waaaaay up! And on top of that, they just keep on recycling stuff and milks those few popular licenses, like Marvel and Star Wars. Nothing of what I want gets released, so I started making my own custom figures instead. (Wow! Im feeling a rant is on its way LOL!) Moving on to figure licenses that seems be wanted, but being shut down due to bad company choises. Take the Mezco MKX 6 inch figures for example. 6 different molds were made, and 2 variants of some of them. The variants didn't sell as much as Mezco expected, so they shud down the line totally! WTF?!? Everybody that has reviewed the series 1 and 2 were very happy, as Mezco had made the best MK figures EVER!!! None actually liked the variants though. And according to a dude who knew some of the people at Mezco, the customers "failed" them! US! For not buying a product we didn't want, we "failed" Mezco and are responsible for them shutting that line down! (???) So, we are to blame because they chose to re-use a mold and mess up the figures with blood splatter and glow in the dark plastic??? WTF?!?
Pretty much with you on PAK at this point. These things have pretty much doubled in price in just a few years, and it's not like they were cheap to begin with. Shamelessly trying to cash in on subpar video games is what turned me off the company in the first place, and now it's getting harder to enjoy their figures as well. I think at this point, there are only 3 I'd be likely to get (after my last few preorders are met).
1) Sephiroth
2) Thanos
3) Loki
And maybe a Gamora, although that seems incredibly unlikely.
Edit: Forgot, I actually would like a Luke Skywalker to duel with my PAK Vader.

I guess I'm not the only one who can't sleep. I have to agree about the price point on pak figures now...I live in Canada & we're already getting robbed blind on all figures because of our shitty dollar arm. $300 for steampunk batman...$160 for venom. The figures haven't changed! Just the price has, fucking sucks.

The chest and midsection looks really off. And the poop stains / ink tipped cape is baffling. Just looks bizarre.
Used to love PAK, but they're incredibly inconsistent these days. Only thing you can count on with them it seems is that their prices will keep going up.

Thanks Anthony. I had to cancel my pre-orders for these, and now I don't regret it. For the price point it has now.... I just pushed a bit more and went for Hot Toys versions (I like the ones I have from Man of Steel a lot). From PAK line I have the Justice League, which I really like, and started thinking... Isn't this Batman around the same price of the Justice League Hawkman when it released? =/

WOW you nailed it!!! Unfortunately the quality of PAK has gone down the tubes and continues to do so. I hope and pray that all the effort that's not going into these is going into Final Fantasy XV and FF VII Remake. Thanks for always speaking the truth Anthony and keep up the great work.

Does anybody know if Play Arts Kai is doing a Suicide Squad line, or at least a Joker and Harley. Because I really want a Jared Leto Joker figure, but I can't find any info on it. If someone can help me out by informing me on what's going on with them I'd greatly appreciate it.

Very dissapointed that the figure is that bad, I was really looking forward to it...I understand why you're done with Square Enix figs, but does that mean you won't be reviewing the Armored Batman, even if you don't buy it ? Cause from the pictures it looks really badass (even if I know those promotion pictures can be decieving...)

I don't think this si BAD, the thing is that it's not a fair price, it is a 30-40dlls figure, not a 80+ dlls figure.
You don't shorten the word "Dollars" especially not to "Dlls"
Anthony, why hasn't a toy company hired you yet? I see people who get special credits for creating figures at these companies and your custom work stands toe to toe. Not to mention how important your honesty is. Any company would be lucky to have your knowledge and ability, reach out one day man.

i believe play arts kai figures end up only being great if they are modeling japanese based characters specifically the final fantasy series, they should stick to final fantasy. the final fantasy VII figures are amazing.

Once again, thank you for the review, Anthony. This figure probably frustrates me more than any other I've looked at for a long time. I really wanted to like it and buy it, but after your unboxing vid, I went ahead and cancelled my preorder for this and Supes (fortunately I had that option with these two). Had this been a $60-$80 figure, I probably would buy it anyway and deal with the screw-ups, but for $149, and knowing the caliber of figures that Square Enix is perfectly capable of producing (ahem, 70's skin Batman!) for much less $$$, this kind of mess is unacceptable. Take heed, folks, if we quit giving them our $ for this crap, they will be forced to shape up or shut down. Thanks again.
