Kanami composes, makes a demo, and sends it to the members. Misa makes a cool bass line according to Kanami's orders. Akane fixes the drum part so that it can be played by a human. Saiki conveys the image of the song to Miku, and Miku writes the lyrics.
This is their basic songwriting routine.

Another great reaction. Lead guitarist is Kanami. Glad your taking the Bandmaid journey. I'm in my mid 60's and grew up listening to all the great rock bands. Never in my wildest imagination did I think that 5 Japanese ladies wearing maid outfits would become my 2nd all time favourite band ( just behind Led Zeppelin). I've watched many reaction videos and you're reactions are top tier for sure. Keep up the good work

Same as you, I’ve been around almost as long and, while I find it hard to make a firm ranking, Band Maid is right there with Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, etc. Those are legendary groups and, while Band Maid will likely never be legendary unfortunately, since the music industry has changed for the worse, they are at least as good, IMO.

Kanami is a lead guitarist and composer.
    she is a genius.
Without a guitar, she looks like a natural airhead. She turns into a riff machine or structured chaos with a guitar.
Her name Ka-nami means song-wave in Japanese.

It's refreshing to see a reactor that takes the time to pay attention to the lyrics/subtitles. A lot of them turn the subtitles off. If you really want to be shocked by some Band Maid lyrics listen to "don't let me down". That official video does not have subtitles, but the lyrics are not hard to find. It's actually all sung in English (phonetically), but some of it is hard to make out.

Miku is amazing lyricist, a poet really. Her lyrics are often really deep and specifically vague if that makes sense. She writes her lyrics in such a way that each individual listening will have a different interpretation of their meaning based on their own experiences. That's a talent that's rare and unique. She takes inspiration from a wide range of material; manga, movies, TV shows, books, anime, etc..
Also, within the Japanese language she's unique in how she writes her lyrics as well, often truncating and combining words/syllables to fit the melody. Even Japanese fans have a hard time singing her lyrics so you can only imagine what Saiki has to do.
You have talked about Saiki's rasp a couple times. Something to note is that this was unique to this concert. Normaally, in the past, she wouldn't be quite so "dirty" with her singing. I believe that she was completely caught up in the moment during this specific concert and we get a really good and rare glimpse of her emotions bleeding through in her singing.
I've seen Band-Maid live 5 times and even I was blown away by her performance during this show, this was her showing everyone that she is a true front woman and not just a lead singer. She OWNED the crowd, had them all in the palm of her hand the entire show. It was spectacular.

    • @Jordan-Ramses
      @Jordan-Ramses Před 2 lety

I don't think her lyrics are vague. 'That was nice but I want more. Give me more until I sleep' I know exactly what that means. I'm not a yogurt dispenser. You can fill up one cup and then the machine is down for maintenance. You can have moto tomorrow. I'm sleepy.
If you've ever dated a woman with a high sex drive you should know exactly what she's talking about. I knew she wrote the lyrics before I knew. She obviously puts a ton of effort into being sexy. She has Danger: High Maintenance written all over her. I think it's awesome but I'm not equipped to handle that and I don't know if any man is. Don't get me wrong I love her and her lyrics but it is what it is. If you see an attractive Japanese man with big bags under his eyes and looks exhausted all the time he could be her husband. Give him a protein bar.

"Choose Me"-- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic.
Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. Here's a great, better studio mixed MV of "Choose Me" that's more punchy: czcams.com/video/MZIJ2vFxu9Y/video.html Thx, Ross!

Miku Kobato writes such interesting and often very deep lyrics and takes her inspirations from books films tv and manga she has said. i have to wonder in the earlier days when they were singing others words what they thought of them? especially a song like "don't let me down" a song totally in English and with none of the girls being anything like fluent at all, they have to be some of the riskiest of lyrics of any of their songs

    2. Enjoy two of the greatest singers Saiki and Miku rock world today
    3. Enjoy great guitar duo with Kanami and Miku
    4. Enjoy great rhythm section with Misa's bass and Akane's drumming

If you consider yourself a metalhead rocker, I think you should react to "Chemical Reaction" from Band Maid's Conqueror album. This song really shows there pan rock genre chops. The song is a late 60's-early 70's throwback song, complete with cowbell and a Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze" rift at the end.
