I am loving the Gaslands series so much. Two friends and I went last week and bought a bunch of hot wheels to start modifying
Ash, you still gain a hazard for shifting up or down ><
The turrets only shoot once each per gear phase at the first target stopping within medium range :)
When you t-boned jays car he could have chosen to slamback, which would have been the smart choice in that situation, seemed like he didn't know he had the option ;)
And lastly, not sure if you know, you don't have to roll all of your handeling, just up to the number of dice :p
Anyway, great and fun game! Keep it up, these matches made me purchase the book and acquire a bunch of cars :D
To be honest it was my first game and I was pretty weak on the rules overall. Played 2 games and then went home and started dissecting rules :)
No worries, I figured it was prerecorded when Owen posted a game without those rule mistakes :p
It was a great watch, my comment is more of a "warning" for players watching to get used to the rules :)
And you saved 3 hits not two against the t-bone if i read the dice right. The dark colored die had a 6 showing.
3 years later, how did you find gaslands? I'm thinking about picking it up for my home group..

The collision in the middle was amazing! This game is so much fun to watch
when playing gaslands it's important to make sound effects of tire slides

I ordered the full kit for this game right after your Gaming w the Cooler Death Race video and can't wait for it to show up. All of the cars and bikes I built for Dark Future back in the 80's will see a revival in the world of Gaslands! Great batrep guys - keep em coming!

Finally bought all the Gaslands supplements on Friday and did a test game with three cars in a Wasteland Death Race (need to pass several gates) scenario on Saturday. It was a blast to play! Looking forward to build more terrain for it.

I ordered this game after your first video. So stoked to try it
I added a extra rule to keep movement clean and no arguments because even being a beer and pretzel style game people will want to fudge movement. Simply put every vehicle on a rectangular base the same width, and length as the vehicle. Then all templates are placed in contact with the base. Otherwise like every battle report I've seen movement is fudged all over the place. One second they're measuring body to tires, the next the template is being used 1/2" in front of the body, to 1/2" behind the body of the vehicle.
It only takes a few minutes with some thin plasti-card to make a base of any size with a hobby knife, and a ruler. Also you're still forgetting hazards for shifting. But regardless a fun and interesting battle report with a epic crash in the middle. So you still get a thumbs up.
Still loving Gaslands. Death race is fast and furious. My brother has adopted a strategy of driving his big truck strait to the last gate and using it as a goalie against my cars. Mars is a lie!

Just received my Gaslands book and bought 1/2-dozen vehicles to Mod. Looks like a fun game, but we'll probably start w/o the extra Non Player Guns!

whats worse is this video is 2 weeks after the first video with most people saying that you get a hazard from shifting gears read the dang rules. =/

The rules state once you touch a template you cannot change your mind, which you did on your first turn. A rather major rule of the game.
We don’t like that rule so we ignore it. Our version is once you place a template next to a car you’re stuck with it. Otherwise even sorting templates is impossible and you might accidentally pick one up the car can’t even perform.
You have me hooked on Gaslands, Ash! Where are you getting your weapon and crew bits from? I've written up some team lists for my family. However, I'm at the converting stage and have hit a snag with the weapons & crew (I'm new to converting anything not GW related). I've looked at the Gaslands forum for some inspiration, but would like to have your input, if you don't mind 😃

You don't have to roll all of your handling dice. You can choose to roll 0+ to play it safe.

Which is a rule that apparently wasn't supposed to make it into the rulebook. :)
Our version is if you lay one down you have to use it. Otherwise that rule is obnoxious.
Guerrilla Miniature Games, According to who? It's not in the FAQ. We really enjoy the rule, but everyone is different. It would change the game a lot if you could measure first...
Was mentioned by the playtesters and designer in the Facebook group. Kept it now, but like I said as it's impractical gameplay wise (really, you can't even flip them over to look at which ones are eligible, what happens if you pick up one you're not even legally allowed at that gear?) we've gone with our own house version that still makes you have to eyeball it but isn't as brokenly draconian.

Gents, one thing I spotted, sorryif its been brought up before but you can't Evade an Explosion. It's something we were doing wrong.
Aren't you supposed to gain hazards when you up-shift and down-shift?
Also, where did you get the containers from?
Plus one on the hazard when shifting.
You're right. They've been doing this all wrong since their first "Let's Play" video. At the very least we can see how unbalanced the game is when not honoring the rules.
Forget all about what i said before about Owens bad driving, seems 90% of the damage done this game was self caused one way or the other.

What scale cars are you using in this? Definitely bigger than 1:64 Hot Wheels / Matchbox right?
My 2 Warthog buggies were Hot Wheels, the truck was from a Fast & Furious line that is slightly bigger than normal Hot Wheels. I'm pretty sure all of Ash's vehicles were standard Matchbox cars.

It looks like the correct strategy is to move round in slow gear and wait for Ask to crash and kill himself.

I think when I make a team I will make the Wacky racers. So I need to be on the lookout for suitable vehicles. I need to find something to be Dick Dastardly's rocket car.

14:30 you picked up the wrong template, need to play it.
That rule is not actually supposed to have made it to the book. It should be; if you lay it down you play it. That's how our group plays because otherwise it allows you to pick maneuvers you can't actually do by accidentally picking them up.

I've seen so many wargames and I am disappointed with them all. Overly convoluted rule systems bog down gameplay, nonsensical rules that don't simulate real actions. Smh. D&D is the most realistic miniature game, but i want to manage a good deal more units than that... I'm going to just go write my own game rules at this point. Perhaps based on d&d 3.5 (my preferred) but massively simplified so as to not bog down rate of play.
