You can be the best player in the world and still have some bad luck and not perform well for a certain club and in certain league. Status wise yeah, Messi is the best of all time... Performance wise? He needs to finish however many years he decides to play in MLS and then we'll see what stats he racks up and how Inter Miami performs overall while he is there. But yeah... Carlos Vela scored 36 goals once in the 2019 MLS season, at the prime of his career and after retiring from the Mexican National Team. Also, Vela hasn’t been able to reproduce those numbers and hasn’t scored much since.
In his whole career at Real Sociedad Vela scored 61 goals in 213 games, Messi had 73 goals in the 60 games he played in 2012 alone. This was never a competition.

Messi makes a huge difference everywhere he goes. Inter Miami has serious problems with its defense, really. Messi makes everyone play great: Suárez, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Taylor and Cremaschi.
Inter Miami better improve their midfield & DEFENCE, especially, for them to play up top much better. We can't always be outscoring the opponents all the time & we CAN'T expect Messi to always carry the team. We gotta take some pressure off of him, let him enjoy his time now.
