- I use an Autel scanner to show car ECU coding Mercedes Benz E-Class W212 using the Autel MP808TS. How good is Autel with car ECU coding or car ECM coding? Particularly the Autel MaxiPRO? Both the MaxiPRO MP808TS or the MaxiPRO MP808 (Autel MP808) will perform coding of Engine Control Module as demonstrated in this video. These can be used to tune car ECU.
The side scanner is a good alternative to the OEM Mercedes Benz Star diagnostic tool at an affordable price.

I do not see an update that will allow programming coming to the MP808TS because it does not support the connection of a passthru device. These are external devices needed for programming.

Yes on all counts. However it depends on the vehicle. As you may know, no scanner supports all functions in all vehicles. You can use this Autel link to check function coverage by tool by car...

I haven't done this before, but from what I can see it seems like a function for high end scanners using accessories e.g. Autel IM608 plus the G box. There may be cheaper options, I just don't know.
I'm currently trying to do an ECU swap on an 06 E350 with ME 9.7, and can't find a function to do this on an Autel 908 Elite either.
So do you know if this Autel MP808 can code things like new gear selector modules or transmission or engine ECUs. I'm specifically trying to buy 1 tool that will allow me to work on my 2017 BMW M240IX and my wife's 2015 Landrover LR4. Her gear selection module is acting up and I've heard a replacement has to be programmed to the car.
For specific precise requests like this, it's better to reach out to Autel support with your VIN to see if those services will be supported.

Need help troubleshooting an 09 E350 Wagon with rear airmatic and electrical issues. I replaced the air pump, rear bags and rear level sensor with no change to the sagging rear. Additionally, passenger side headlights work but the drivers side does not. It runs and drives other than these issues Watched another CZcams video that it could be a bad Front SAM unit. Is this scanner capable of backing up my original SAM code settings so i can restore the settings to a replacement SAM unit ?

It doesn't specifically list anything against SAM unit backup. You may want to reach out to Autel directly if that's the principal reason for acquiring the tool. They'll be able to give a definitive answer.
please help me...I installed a sbc abs pump for mercedes benz w211 and I want to register the new pump..what should I do? coding or programming.. I heard that the vin number must be adjusted with the new pump.. you can do this procedure with autel mp808bt

Honestly not sure. I usually don't go into the weeds on the transmission coding. Your last query will have to be model dependent.
Does it do ECU coding for few cars or many cars and is it disabled if not updated after free update ends?
Does ECU coding for Benz, Land Rover, Audi, VW, Porsche, and some others. You can ask Autel support if you have a specific model or make in mind.
I bought the Icarsoft CR Max BT scanner for my Viano 2.2 163cv 2014. It didn't read many options and it didn't connect correctly. It has a Delphi CRD2.x control unit. Is there a scanner that can read more data from the control unit. I read that these Delphi are somewhat problematic.
From the comment of another user, it seems not many scanners support Viano. Not sure how much coverage Autel has either😑

Is it possible to code the high beam assistant on the w212 with it or activate the "last mode" for the start stopp automatic?
The only options under headlight coding were those shown in the video. Not sure what the last mode means. I recall that you can turn Start-stop on or off using thr device.
@@DIYAutoworksNG If you set the automatic start stop to off and turn off the engine, the automatic start stop will be on again the next time the engine is started. The last mode is not saved. That can be changed. I have the hardware for the high beam assistant installed, but it is not coded. This can be coded for example with vediamo.
I get you now. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to 'play' with the W212 using this device. So I can't really say, but I believe coded parameters should not revert to status quo when the car is restarted.
Hello sir, can this device code a Mercedes Benz abs module after replacement?
If I recall, the tool offered me the opportunity to code all the modules in the car. That said, a replacement ABS may likely need programming first to write the VIN of the car into the module. Not all manufacturers put in this requirement, but some do. I am not sure if Mercedes does. Some car modules are plug and play.
Same model device but mine doesn't show the programming option.
Just some quick questions... Did you follow the same steps showed? What model of Benz is it? Is your tool up to date in terms of Benz updates?

Just checked Autel's tool coverage page for the MP808TS and it lists support for level caliberation for the adaptive dampening system. You can check here autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2. You may also contact Autel for confirmation beyond a doubt.
Is this the cheapest way to code a mercedes ecu? I just want to disable my daytime running lights/fog lights but seems like its much harder to do this stuff on benz than bmw.
Well, I can't say for cheapest. The tool is close to a thousand bucks US.

You can disable daytime running lights in the car settings through menu, I can do that on my mercedes.

Generally, this Autel is capable of replacing the ECM I.e., writing your old VIN into the new ECM. However, you need to be doubly sure your car is supported with this function. What car is this? I can check if you state the make, brand & year.

car has a gremlin fan coming on at cold start I'm getting no communication with ecm p0600 instrument cluster and other functions go on and off from time to time
I didn't see ECU replacement clearly stated for this car. That said, it will be good to rule out the other causes of a P0600. It could be a ground/poor contacts issue. I would say you inspect the connectors for the ECU for corrosion/bent pins/dust, inspect the wiring harness to rule out short/opens. Also, what voltage is your battery at? One of the causes of a P0600 is a weak battery. It's possible that the gremlin fan drains the battery to the point where the electrics don't work correctly. You may have to borrow a charged healthy battery to rule this out.

I recommend just going over the manual religiously and having some handson time. Try not to do things you don't understand.

Anyone know if this can tell my van it now has 6 gears instead of 5 after a conversion from a better spec vehicle, cruise control only works up to 5th gear and when I put it in 6th the display goes blank Vw transporter t5.1 2011 many thanks
I just checked Autel's tool-vehicle coverage site and it lists that the MP808TS covers coding for the transmission module of your VW. It does not give further details on the level of coding that can be done for the transmission.
I would say that it depends on whether the upgraded transmission you fitted is an option for this car and if Autel specifically built in coding for this switch for your car in the tool. Is the transmission you put in an option for the 2011 transporter? If not, what you actually need is a new transmission module properly programmed and mapped to the new transmission plus the engine ECU.
@@DIYAutoworksNG wow!!! thank you for the reply. I have tried so many things and garages. The 6 speed is a factory option, but when buying used, makes them rare as most people just get the 5 speed as many are work vans The transmission came from a 2013 California transporter that was rear ended.

If it does have the 6-speed as an option, there could be a function for coding. At this point, only Autel tech can say if this functionality exists, or having the tool and car at hand to explore the coding menu...

Can you use this scanner to disable the rear o2 sensors? (After the catalytic converter)
Do scanners support that? Considering the critical role of the downstream O2 sensor. Haven't checked, but don't think the MP808TS does.

I meant critical from the point of saving the planet 🌏. Not sure emission laws will allow manufacturers (cars and scan tool), to build in this support if you know what I mean.

The MK808 is a good service tool. Has a number of maintenance functions. Only thing to point out is that it lacks bidirectional capability (just in case its a priority). Bidirectional capacity is not a must though. The MK808 will not give you the coding I demonstrated in this video, but it's a good tool as I said. I agree with preferring the build of the Autel. On the D7, functions will remain active but you won't be able to download updates.

Also, right near speed limiter I saw AWD. Is this just to code it at the factory, or can you disable AWD if you have a 4matic?
Hello. The MP808BT and MP808K will both code like this. There are some coding options under AWD but I not sure if disabling of AWD is one of them. I used Autel's vehicle coverage tool but it doesn't specifically confirm this. autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2

No experience with the iCarsoft unfortunately. I've responded to the differences in my other reply. Only the DS and MP line are active scan tools.

@@DIYAutoworksNG Does not work, it will go to 155 mph/260 kmh bit that is standard default. It is capable of 180-190mph unrestricted. Just need to remove top speed limit.

I actually got this through an authorized dealer who got it from Autel in China.
I hadn't started buying from Aliexpress at the time. However, I did get my AP200 from Aliexpress. After I learnt the ropes. Lol.

Yes, it is. I can't vouch for all sellers on the site though. You know how you have some funny sellers even on Ebay. I have some Aliexpress links in the description of some videos. These are genuine.
