iPhone SE or iPhone 6S/6S Plus? That is the question.

Got my SE as soon as it was released and used it ever since.
Nice pocket friendly sized phone. Sadly the sleep button stopped working about 6 months ago. I’ve been using the Adaptive Touch on screen button in order to prolong its life until I can upgrade.
Hoping the widely rumoured SE 2 (or whatever it will be called) based on the iPhone 8 case with the guts of an 11 is released in March 2020 as predicted.
Whilst I’d probably prefer to stick with a smaller phone, maybe it is time to go in for a bigger slab.
Personally if I could afford the new Motorola Razr I’d have one of those, but £1500 is far too expensive for me.
I wanted the SE 2 to be the size of the SE but with an edge-to-edge display. But since it’s going to be the size of the 6/6S/7/8/X/XS/11Pro, that defeats my whole point of why I had the original SE for years: having truly unmatched one-handed comfort and the lightest phone on the market, which the 4.7” phones aren’t in either category.
I decided the edge-to-edge display style was more important to me than just getting a souped-up iPhone 8 so instead I replaced my SE with a XR.
I definitely need to get used to the 6.1” of surface space, but watching videos on it is an INSANE upgrade from the SE. Jumping from 4.0” to 6.1” (16:9 video content is 5.1” on the 6.1” screen) is like jumping from a 40” TV to a 50” TV.
TurboPikachuX - I agree 100% that the SE 2 should’ve been the same size as the SE with an edge-to-edge display.
Would you recommend the XR?
Does it still feel comfortable to use in one hand?
Smell the Glove the XR is definitely not as great for one-handed use, but I guess Apple figured that, as iOS includes a 5/5C/5S/SE-sized keyboard on Plus/Max-sized iPhones and the XR/11 that can be left or right-aligned.
Even with the one-hand keyboard, one-hand typing on the XR is still a step down from the SE, but I figure the SE 2 also won’t be able to retain the SE’s perfect one-hand size
Where the XR truly shines is media playback. The stereo speakers sound like a full-size 9.7” iPad. And 16:9 standard video size comes to 5.1” on the XR compared to the SE’s 4.0” and the upcoming SE 2’s 4.7”. (While phablets are just too big, Plus and Max-sized phones display 16:9 video at an impressive 5.5”)
If comfort comes first, the SE 2 is probably still a very solid choice, saving at least $200 over a XR, and will be the very last iPhone to keep TouchID. Also like every iPhone from iPhone 7 onwards, I’m almost certain the SE 2 will have proper stereo speakers and 2nd-gen TouchID unlock speed. If priced at $400 or less, the SE 2 is likely going to be Apple’s next 5S in terms of success.
The biggest reason to get a XR or 11 is to get into the all-screen, gesture-based future while keeping some tradition like LCD before OLED becomes the only option. In my opinion, it’s very fun and I’m glad I went with it. But if I was still on my previous job instead of my current one, the SE 2 would’ve been the only one I could afford, and wouldn’t regret getting it over any of the X/11 iPhones as saving hundreds of dollars while upgrading is huge 👍

You can still buy the SE refurbished with a new battery on Amazon -- I did a few months ago, and still have 100% battery health. I routinely get about a day and a half use on one charge. Not disappointed at all with the 128GB SE

Watching on my 6s. I’ve had this phone for about 2 yesrs now and I can safely say that it’s still amazing. The only problem is the battery life, it can last me a whole day of light use, but usually I have to plug in the charger in the afternoon. Other than that the performance is surprisingly good considering the age of the phone, and the cameras are solid as well. When you compare it side by side with a newer iPhone, you can absoutely tell the difference, but as far as day to day use goes it’s perfectly usable. I am considering upgrading to the Xr or 11 though, just because of the MUCH improved battery life. Great video!

I love my SE. I got it a year and a half ago for $99, 32 gb. You could probably find the 128 version at that price.
My major complaint is the battery. This thing will sometimes shut down at one percent and then minutes later I will turn it on and it’ll say it is at 13% and then shut off seconds later. It’s currently noon and the battery is at 12%. I would like a better camera, as well.
Looking into saving for a Xs.
However, for the price, the iPhone SE is an excellent phone.

@@davidwest. even to this day the ios 13 is a battery disaster ...ios 13.3 is a tad optimized but many complain of battery drain and depends on your usage also...

Guys just buy a charging case! It fixed my problem with my 5s and my SE. I get a day of heavy use out of my 4,000 mah cases. 2 days of everyday use.
Well worth getting a new battery in these to get decent performance.
Also keep it 65%-75% charged to make its life longer.
I have the 6s since release and I love this phone. Super fast and never broke down on me. iOS 13 is running great. Only bad side is battery life and I’m on the second battery and it’s at 84%. I’m going to wait till next year and buy the 2020 iPhone

You really should review first gen. of iPod shuffle (aka mp3 usb drive)
Stuffington well not much to review there. It’s a USB stick that plays music. Catalina still recognises it. With enough dongles getting from FireWire to usb c. Catalina will recognise the OG iPod. I thought removing iTunes would kill their support.

Fun fact: it’s August 2020 and we now know the confirmed fact that the IPhone 6S and the first gen IPhone SE are going to get iOS 14 support. Pretty amazing!

This was very helpful! I’ve been on iPhone 6 for a while and would like to upgrade my OS. My main reason for not wanting to update to newer than SE/6Sis besides cost that I’m still pretty attached to the headphone jack. I’m never going to be able to afford good bluetooth headphones and not being able to listen and charge at the same time surely blows.
I just upgraded my SE this week to an XS. I got the SE not long after it was launched and it lasted me really well. My home button finally gave up a couple of weeks ago (had to do the home button on screen trick to make the phone usable) but my battery was definitely having issues for quite a while. I would say really since June/July time I was getting less and less time between charges and I could easily go from 30% battery to 5% battery in a couple of minutes if I was doing something like playing a game or trying to load a webpage.
I was between the iPhone 11 and the Xs for my new phone (they cost the same on my network provider) but decided the better display and overall feel and size of the Xs was more what I was looking for. I think if my SE didn’t develop the issues it did recently I would have stuck with it for at least another 6 months. Now I’ve changed to the bigger phone (which I initially didn’t like the idea of as I have small hands) I don’t think I could go back to such a small display.

Got my SE in late 2016. I get that Apple sometimes gets hate from people, but their customer service is truly impressive.
Keeping a phone current for 4,5 years in today’s world is truly impressive.
My SE runs just as it did when I got it. I literally can’t tell the difference. Even my battery is at 93% health left.
I wish they would keep the 5s factor but that’s not happening so my new phone is likely the SE 2 which will probably be a iPhone 8 update.

I used to have a iPhone SE, Until I got a Samsung. Now it's my little brother's phone, and he seems to have no complaints. The battery is still at 97% health and is running quite smoothly on iOS 13!

You should highlight battery life. 6S has horrendous battery life (worse than the 6), but the SE is stellar.

Getting a 6S Plus tomorrow, to replace my SE, don't know what'll happen to the SE, but in a two months I turn 16, so then I can get a job. Perfectly fine with me to finally try out a new iphone after using 2 different SE's in 2 years, this one's battery is going out now, finally since December last year, so its okay to switch until January, where I can start making money to upgrade myself with my own money.

Here in the uk I haven't seen the X anywhere near that price brand new. Remember I bought the 6S+ _brand new_ sealed in the box. And it was a year and a half ago that I got it, it's now cheaper again. I am super happy with my iPhone and the price I paid for it, so I don't feel ripped off at all.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5 with Lineage OS and it works fairly well other than the burn in. Still very usable, I can still play games on it too like CODM.

Comparing the 8 megapixel cameras in the iPhone 4s, 5, 5s and 6? To see if there was as much of a difference between them as Apple said there was at the time
7:39 it’s because Apple only stopped support for devices with a minimum of 2 GB when releasing iOS 13, which in this case, the iPhone 5S & iPhone 6 has 1 GB, so they’re stuck on iOS 12

I used to have a iPhone 6s for 2 years and I just got a xr. So much bigger but about the same speed. The tiny screen of my 6s. So small when I look at it again. And the battery life on my new phone is amazing because apparently my 6s has something wrong with its battery. Hahah. Something happened in the factory.

My daily driver is iPhone 11 and I definitely not recommend to go for such and old device. It’s not the performance, it’s the battery.
I would recommend to go for a plus size 7/8 or even better an Xr

Apple battery replacement is overpriced. Most people that don’t have Parkinson’s or extra chromosomes should learn how to replace their own batteries, it takes 2 minutes
