Welcome to my latest video discussing the current state of Team Fortress 2 (TF2) and Valve's ongoing neglect of this beloved game. It’s been two years since Valve’s infamous tweet, and unfortunately, nothing has improved. In fact, the situation for casual players has deteriorated further. The FixTF2 movement is gaining traction, but on the Team Fortress 2 store page on Steam, reviews have plummeted to an overwhelmingly negative status. This is a stark indication of how deeply the community feels Valve’s neglect.
Valve, a highly profitable and influential company in the gaming industry, has surprisingly allowed TF2 to regress. This is the same company known for its excellent public image and innovative games. It’s unbelievable that they have let TF2 fall into such a state of disrepair. However, TF2 is not the only game suffering from Valve's lack of attention. Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) has also been a significant disappointment. The game, which many believed would be Valve’s next big project, has faced severe issues with cheating and playability.
When Counter-Strike 2 was announced, I thought, "Okay, Valve is focusing on this new project, which explains why TF2 has been sidelined." But upon its release, it was clear that CS2 was not the success many had hoped for. Cheating is rampant, especially in the competitive mode, Premier. Even after eight months, many players feel that CS2 has not surpassed its predecessor, Global Offensive, in terms of quality and playability.
The neglect is not isolated to just TF2 and CS2. Dota 2, another flagship game by Valve, is plagued with smurfs. From my personal experience, smurfing in Dota 2 can be just as disruptive as cheating, even if it is technically not the same. Valve’s attempts to crack down on smurfing have been largely ineffective, further damaging the game’s community and playability.
This pattern of neglect across Valve’s top games-TF2, CS2, and Dota 2-creates a concerning narrative. As a consumer, I am now hesitant to invest time or money into new Valve games. The lack of trust in Valve’s ability to manage cheating and maintain long-term support is alarming. Deadlock, Valve’s newest experiment, is a 6v6 shooter and MOBA. But as a dedicated TF2 player, why would I consider playing it knowing it might be overrun by cheaters from the get-go?
This is where the FixTF2 movement becomes crucial. Valve’s reputation is built on producing innovative, groundbreaking games. But recent years have shown a decline in their multiplayer game quality. FixTF2 aims to highlight this issue and push for change. Negative media coverage, financial boycotts, and public pressure are essential tools in this movement. By refusing to buy crates and keys, the community can financially pressure Valve to take action.
I believe that if Valve made even a single significant effort to remove the bots from casual TF2 games, it would make a huge difference. It would show that they are listening to their community and are committed to improving the game. So, I urge everyone to stay involved with the FixTF2 movement. Sign the petition, speak with your wallet, and stop supporting Valve’s neglectful practices until they address these issues.
I’ve been away for a while, focusing on work and other games, but I have several videos lined up, including more content related to the FixTF2 movement. I want to show my support for TF2 and its community. However, if the FixTF2 movement does not succeed, I may consider moving away from TF2 content. Many of your favorite content creators might do the same if Valve does not respond to our demands.
To keep this incredible game active for another decade, we need to work together. We must show Valve that it is more profitable to fix TF2 than to ignore it and suffer the reputational and financial consequences. Thank you for watching, and as always, take care.
Be sure to check out Zeyo’s video “Finding a Bot-Free Server Any% Speedrun TF2” and Joleksu’s “Counter Strike 2 Hitbox Demonstration” for more insights into the challenges facing TF2 and other Valve games.
Stay tuned for more updates, and keep pushing for a better future for Team Fortress 2. #FixTF2

Actually described to perfection a normal day in a valve office, let me add a little bit of dialogue so you can understand how stupid it is.
Worker 1: Today i will work in a new project.
worker 2: starts working in something else.
worker 1: Yooo, worker 2 what are you doing?
worker 2: oh, glad you ask, you see this proyect is about *valve yap*
worker 1: Cool, can i join?
worker 2: werent you working on something.
      worker 1: nah.
worker 1 joined worker 2 proyect, leaving his original project behind to either procrastinate it for a couple years or totally dumping it, then the worker 1 and 2 see the project of worker 3 and the cycle goes on and on till they stop for x or y reason

A "few weeks" is an understatement. They really could stop supporting TF2, but they just can't leave it in the state that it is in. They got two ways to leave the game fine, either remove the bots via anti-cheats, or just turn off Casual servers and bring back Quickplay to give life back to community servers who can moderate against them.
I'd pick the latter, Casual is horrible and it's what killed TF2 in terms of updates.

The fact that valve is working on another "competitive" multiplayer game while their current games are plagued by cheating goes to show how out of touch the decision makers at the company have become. Nobody is going to want to play a game that is doomed to the same fate as their old IPs within a few months or even weeks.
Anti-cheat is an incredibly complicated issue, but valve has the resources to at least make an attempt to fix the issue (it would certainly help with their public image). I seriously doubt valve cares about the revenue earned from tf2 since it is such a small drop in the bucket compared to their other earnings, but I would be willing to bet they care that their image is being dragged through the mud.

like all they say "we dont wanna get into a treadmill fight" every time someone brings up the anticheat problem, and i get it, fair point but getting into a treadmill fight with the cheaters is still better then letting them run free, like they have billions and they cant hire a team to work on vac full time? like fr if they just hired a team dedicated on VAC then all valve mp games would be fixed

They aren't out of touch - you are. They see clearly that the cheating situation doesn't negatively impact the player numbers (or their income), so they don't have to invest too much resources into it. Besides, for those who wish to sacrifice their privacy for the sake of encountering less cheaters (but not zero), third party matchmakers exist, like Faceit.

I made this sort of comment before and I will make it again. I have serious doubts to Valve's willingness to do anything but at the most say something. No matter how bad the reviews get, no matter what trends on twitter and no matter how many people sign a petition. Valve is good at making games but they have always been terrible at running them and I find it incredibly unlikely there will ever be a solution.
The only chance we have is to make it effect their bottom line. Valve is a company like any other and has become complacent in the idea that TF2 is just the passive money maker.

I feel like the mean reason that fixtf2 can win is because people's general views on valve would sink, and there are more and more companies with their own shops day by day, already a lot of people own epic games shop [and fortnight is the most selling game afaik if that doesn't say something]
best we could hope for is if people started to pirate more nad use non-valve shops [considering buckshot rulette became popular while being on itchio, minecraft has never been on steam, and theres many other games that aren't on steam but are popular, valve does have competition]

the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting something to change. savetf2s failure wasnt a lack of direction, it was simply ineffective as a method to get the game fixed.
there is only one way to actually fixtf2, make a community matchmaking service akin to faceit. nagging valve for updates will never work because at best we will get a few security patches that keep the bot population down for a matter of months until the bad press blows over and the bot hosters adapt. we need an anticheat and matchmaking upkept by people who actually pay attention to the playerbases concerns, which if cs2's cheating problem is anything to go by (valves most profitable game currently btw) will *never* be offered by valve

  • @user-ym6os8kp2s
    @user-ym6os8kp2s Před 3 měsíci +2

Idk why this is getting so much attention. This is a natural stage for most old games. Game gets forgotten about by the developers, game gets bots/toxic community. Sure, it's sad, but it happens to so many old game titles that people shouldn't be surprised anymore.
The hashtag isn't even working. you're giving the people who use the bots what they want, attention. People already knew that valve didn't care about the game. So why do you expect them to care now? All this "fixtf" situation is doing is annoying people who play other games, giving the people who bot attention, and giving content creators a fat stack of money.
