Sound like an exciting project i always wanted to have a MAME cabinet but i don't have the money or the space where i live. Just playing arcade games on my gaming pc is enough for me but good luck on your project.
I could do it with so much less space but I love those Midway cabs lol.

I have multiple systems connected to my RecRoomMasters cabinet. PC running Hyperspin, Modded Wii, PS3 and PS4. Hdmi switcher that auto switches to what’s powered on.
What kind of monitor is in there?
@@KillerArcadeGames it’s LG lcd. I know you’re going for a CRT screen but there’s some benefits to a modern tv in a Multicade. I’m playing classic games all the way up the Street Fighter 6 on my cabinet. Plus most HDMI switchers automatically switch to recently powered devices.
Great Idea KAG, I am doing the same thing as you minus using a 1up brain. I already have the full size Midway cabinet like my KI. It was an empty cab and in solid shape. I still have not sorted out what graphic theme to use.

I kinda tried this using the geekworm 1.5
To get hdmi out. I got KI working on a lcd monitor but it was wonky only sending a signal to the monitor sometimes. The biggest problem i see trying to use a crt with this conversion
Is getting the crt to recognize the a1up boards resolution. you'll need some sort of way to step down the resolution to something the crt could display.
Unless you were able to find a 25' HD crt or 25' pc monitor?
This will be an wild adventure brother.

The monitor I’m going to use is a Makvision arcade monitor. It has VGA input and supports a bunch of resolutions unlike most arcade monitors. I won’t stress too much if it doesn’t work. I’ll just figure out something else to do with the 1Up hardware. It’s worth a shot though, it may be interesting lol

Hey KAG, Ive actually had the Arcade1up KI working on a CRT television & while it looked great unfortunately, The image was too big & had to be adjusted Hopefully thats not the case with your Arcade CRT but my recommendation for your project would be to purchase the new Unico 26 inch Monitors that are being made to replace CRTs in arcade cabinets. It has HDMI & VGA. I myself will be doing something similar as i will be attempting to build a poormans KI cabinet lol. Hope this info helps & Goodluck with your project!
Dang, that’s tough. The main reason I’m doing this cabinet is to have the CRT emulation lol. I might get lucky though. The CRT I’m using is a newer arcade monitor with a VGA input so it may automatically resize the image but we’ll see. I gotta do more testing. Thanks for the info though!
I attempted this once where I tried to use the 1up MVC2 and a MAME PC, but no luck. I think Im just dumb and did it wrong though, but excited to see the results!

Sup KAG! I've got a couple of plans myself. I was thinking about selling my modded MK2 and KI cabinets. Long story but I've acquired two empty Arcade1up NFL Blitz cabinets. Since the shape and designs a similar to the classic Midway design, they would be excellent for KI and MK2. Plus the new 99Livesarcade panels will fit them. This project won't happen until next year though.
Sounds like a decent plan. Someone was selling empty Blitz 1Ups? That’s kind of odd lol
@KillerArcadeGames Yeah. Currently, four of my builds were empty shells I bought on Ebay. I have about another five in storage for future projects. Two of which are NFL Blitz. My KI was built from a Galaga. I posted it on the fan group about a year ago.

Just in time, as I'm also doing a Mame cab (Rec Room Masters). Will you be using a front end like Hyperspin or Coinops?
I'll use BigBox. I don't really do the fancy front ends, mainly because I never learned how haha.
Should I be looking for a regular arcade 1up or a pro series arcade 1up for killer instinct?
It’s tough to say. The controls that are “upgraded” still aren’t great. I’ve heard the actual cabinet feels more like a real machine so that’s a bonus. I’d say either one is good just depends on whether you want a bigger cabinet and screen or would rather get it much cheaper.

from when i was a child i ALWAYS wanted a KI 1 arcade, but its obviously too expensive and heavy.
while i do have KI on MAME, none of my IRL friends like fighting games. we all play racing, RPG, shooters ect but nobody likes fighting games.
while the arcade 1up is still just emulation the arcade 1up has online play.
obviously i haven't played an actual ki arcade board since the 90s and i REALLY wanted to get an actual ki arcade board i think the online multiplayer is the biggest draw for me.
I consider myself very good at the game but have not played against another human since the 90s so i guess we will see!
I've never seen about the arcade cabinet on MAME
I think it will come out great. It’s just going to cost a bunch of money haha

Would an old school VGA Y adapter work for you as well?
I think so. I just need to be sure to I can switch between them easily.

I knew someone said it before haha. I just didn’t want to put it in with real arcade hardware. I think it will work better with a MAME pc set up.

Its a slow game compare to the rest but a lot of fun. It’s also got a pretty unique look.

Star Wars (she has that one), Guardians of the Galaxy is another she likes a lot. She really doesn’t play much else lol. I think she’d enjoy more if she would try others.
Guardians is a lot of fun. It has a great integration of ideas from the movies, great music and makes clever use of magnets. John Borg, the designer was at last year's Houston Arcade Expo. You are going to have issues with resolution on a crt. I can’t imagine it would work. You probably would need a pc crt rather than an arcade monitor.
I have a Makvision arcade monitor which is capable of displaying many different resolutions. It also has a VGA input. My hope is it will detect the output resolution and adjust to it.

@@KillerArcadeGames Oh no the arcade1up pcb. Apologize I should have stated that. It's amazing bro. The original arcade pcb to NBA Jam Tournament Edition has been accessed and altered to put jordan, shaq, Mortal Kombat guys back in, and breaking backboard that was only in original Jam. No one on the planet has been able to hack or even access the arcade1up pcb to Jam. One is in my cab and I have another one brand new in the box. Still been looking for someone who can do anything with it and keep the online play other than codemystics.

The first MK or Mk1 is my all time favorite. I’ve found that playing that one makes me better on the others. Goro is an asshole on MK1 though I will admit.. 😂
I always found Shang Tsung to be more annoying! But Goro is a pain too.
