      My first arcade feeling were on capcom cabinet,after neo geo with LS 40 seimitsu and after sanwa.
      But now,after many years on sanwa (with springs 2,4lbs) I prefer LS 32 or LS 56 to Kof and shmup.

    I am looking for a joystick/lever. However there are a few things it needs to do.
    -Only move left to right.
    -Hold itself in the last place it was left. (No snapback to center once let go of)
    Honestly it needs to function more like a mixer fader or a typical lever. If you want a perfect example of what I am looking for check out the lever stick on O.N.G.E.K.I. it is a japanese arcade game.

    Are Suzo Happ and Sanwa Denshi joysticks interchangeable?

    • @RetroactivearcadeCa
      @RetroactivearcadeCa  Před 3 lety

      The bolt patterns are the same but the Suzo Happ joysticks are much larger/thicker below the Control Panel so it may not fit in some situations. Depends where you are using them, if it is for a custom arcade that has unlimited space under the control panel you should be fine. If it is to put into a fight stick it will not fit. Also, a Sanwa stick has a five pin harness that connects to it, the Suzo Happ joystick uses microswitches so you will have to cutt off that connector and add .187 connectors to each wire and daisy chain the ground wire. In short it is not a straight swap, it does have the same hole pattern in the base plate but you will have to modify your wires going to the joysticks.

    • @RetroactivearcadeCa
      @RetroactivearcadeCa  Před 5 lety

      Well first off, Game room solution should be helping you with this. As for connections there should be a 5 wire harness that comes with it, if you flip the joystick upside-down before you connect the harness you can see some letters on the green PCB part of the joystick where the harness connects to. There are 2 spots for this harness, I believe it is the middle one you are going to be using.These letters should tell you what the connections are (L, R, U, D) and it should have an arrow or the word "UP" to tell you the top end of the joystick for installation on your CP. Otherwise install it and then temporarily connect 1 wire at a time testing the direction in your game or menu to determine its direction. If you have a lower end clone version of the stick it may not have any writing on it at all so trial and error will be your only option, without the letters even a diagram wouldn't help you.

      Apparantly you can possibly map it in a clever way with C64 but not Spectrum, only Atari 2600 and the like.

      @@pcroom34 You can possibly use a 149 Way rotary joystick from Ultimarc or Suzo Happ. The problem with all these separate technologies is getting them to work with one encoder for your adapter. I'm sure it is possible but you would have to hack a few cables and controls together to see if they work.

      An 8 way joystick works 360 degrees like what is in any arcade out there. If you are looking for something more initiative and or sensitive to all and any direction, then there is the U360 from Ultimarc available as well.

      homes if you want the real thing any button or joystick with microswicths will work fine. The delay your talking about would be in the encoder you choose. Use an IPac 2 and you will be ahead of the game first time around.

    • @MrAdamturco
      @MrAdamturco Před 6 lety

      iwonderifthisislegal I've seen that. And then you screw the stick into the thinner wood? I've seen ppl actually use blocks of wood to put underneath the bracket and screw those in. How are you going about it? Also I'm just starting out...... Do you recommend a stick and button set? I've been looking at Amazon Canada and can't make a decision.

    • @iwonderifthisislegal
      @iwonderifthisislegal Před 6 lety

      AdamTeaParty so the wood for my control panel and all of my arcade as a whole is MDF board. It's nice and 30 especially since I have a 4 player cap that I built. I have a 42 inch LCD monitor inside so I wanted it wide. For the control panel it's using the same MDF and that's 3/4 inch thick. I took my router down into the wood by about 1/4. That still leaves about 3/8 wood. The joysticks have a base size of about 3 in by 3 and 1/2 in. Having four bolts screwed down into that 3/8 wood is just fine. I will give you the link to The Lunchbox forms where I have my build posted. So you can get an idea of what I'm building. forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/45984-my-four-player-build/?tab=comments#comment-288887

      Leroy Lichtenberger I would recommend the competition happ or the Sanwa JLF. The Happ is like the old school street fighter arcade joysticks and the Sanwa JLF are for competition style fight sticks that are very sensitive for special moves etc. Depends which you are trying to achieve.
