  • Today we are back on the 1966 Chevy C10 restoration installing a cab corner, tweaking some aftermarket panels to fit better and finished up the patch panel welding on the passenger side. Also, we'll dump some oil down the cylinders on the siezed up 6 cylinder engine in our 1953 Chevy Truck

    I'm an Aussie and would be happy to help out with the toupee conundrum but the choices over here are limited to things foreign (obviously) to you and may not be to your liking. You never know though. If you feel like a daring exotic change I could hook you up with a hairpiece made from the bumfluff of a Brisbane Bunyip or the ballbag hair of a Darwin Dropbear. My personal favourite and and strong recommendation though would be the phallic fur of a Wollongong Wombat.
    Choosing either of these does come with 1 little drawback though. It's not insurmountable so no need to panic. Should you choose to don one of these fine follicle masterpieces, you will need to start consuming the famous and very Australian, French Onion Dip. Granted it's no cheese dip but it's not bad on some Jatz Crackers. Cheers.

Wombats however are friendly creatures who have no issue with the plucking of the phallic fur at all. Its one of the reasons I recommend them so highly. I just today got my passenger side front floor panel fit & tacked into place...so far, it's the first patch panel I had that much touble with & alter as much as I did...thing definitely wasn't stamped out for a 1969 model... but I finally made it fit...had to actually cut out a section of the panel because it was too wide to even fit in the truck, let alone go where it was supposed to go... I'll finish welding it tomorrow... only took me 3 days to get it to fit...

      @Road_Rash Před 10 měsíci +1

      I've learned a lot from the passenger side... it's been close to 3 decades since I struck an arc, but it's starting to come back to me now that I've got most of one side of the truck floor done... I'm starting with what will never be seen once covered, that way I can get in plenty of practice before I hit the important stuff... and you always start with the passenger side first, that way you don't have to look at your first attempt every time you get in the truck... Lol!

    The frigging cheese dip! Well, my only comment on hair styles is that it is important to preserve the hierarchy of the organization. So in this case Upper Management is very fuzzy-looking, while the worker class looks more shorn. So in order to maintain decorum, it will be best for you to appear more like a jarhead than a shaggy dog. Then everyone will feel satisfied that the workers are in their place working, and Management is lollygagging around, as they should. :)

Maybe I can say this because it looks remarkably like the engine in my old car. Anyways, I think that when you turn your head and tack weld with the MIG rig, you do a much better job than me when I'm looking at what I'm welding! This might look awesome if the top remains unchopped above the belt line. If the top does get chopped the rear window can remain uncut and the bottom could be dropped to the belt line. Thanks! I replaced the liner recently with one from Amazon and it's already acting up causing the wire to get hung up.

    I shear my mop of curly hair in May, after letting it grow from August TO May. It is a nice break, taking 5 seconds to wash , after 5 minutes at full mop.

    Got an idea Kyle...go chrome dome on top and slather or strap on a bit of cat nip and Edgar, Allan and Poe can take turns sitting on top of the ol' cabeza. Give it some thought. Sounds good to me.

    It is quite strange how these panels were made correctly 50 plus years ago without computer assistance.. just good old-fashioned hard work.

      Dem Aftermarkt ist es schlicht nicht erlaubt die Form genau zu kopieren.
      Da könnten noch Designpatente oder ähnliches existieren.

    We don't have any wilderbeasts here in Nevada but one creature is plentiful is the skunk, so I'll pick up a number of roadkills and package them up and send them on to you. The white stripe should give you an aura of sophistication and attract large numbers of hot women. You can skin them and glue the pelt on directly to your head in one piece.

    Don't feel too bad. I don't have any pride in your work either! On the rear joint between the rocker and cab corner - quite a few have fully welded a seam and used a cutoff wheel to simulate a factory seam. It may not work that well in your situation as it would on horizontal seams.

      @CarterAutoRestyling  Před 10 měsíci +3

      Yeah I've done the faked welded seam on a few muscle car "restomods" in the past. Silicone bronze rod works good for that too. Now I'm lazy and entitled so I just hack everything with seam sealer.

    I don't have any toupees to send. Would you wear a squirrel pelt instead?

    Younger viewers may not realise that chicken truck hood props can serve as a substitute yard broom at a pinch.

    I thought that toupee was made from the hair of the Legendary Bumble of The Pas Manitoba. It’s famous for drinking beer and eating cigarettes.

    Don't know why everyone is razzing you for the hair style Kyle (style and Kyle rhyme). I think it gives you a sophisticated look that says "I'm here to weld but am up for a night on the town..." That cranky old guy with The Shack On The Tracks could learn alot from you! 😆

    The real time floor welding was actually pretty instructive. It shows the timing in between welds to let it cool a bit. Very cool video again!!!
