I love the fact you just show us what we want to see but without all the talking, unfortunately most of the other fabricators on CZcams spend 80% of the time talking about what they are about to do and the other 20% showing us a very basic overview of the repair, well done!!!!!
We try to make the videos like an action movie :)
That sill looks great! Nice to see an old car that is not heading to the scrap yard.
Thank you and yes one more saved :)
@@yorkshirecarrestorationgreat work very well done
For so long as there are cars people love enough to pay for repairs like this, you will have a line of customers coming to your door. This can never be done by a robot or a computer. Kudos. It may sound daft, but the sheer human exuberance and skill in this is actually moving in this crazy world.
With the EU's plan to ban these repairs on 15 year old + cars, there will be no line.
@@HondasAreNotForChristmas😪
Steve, it's poetry in motion, a craftsman at the top of his game, love it, Joe
Thank you Joe :)
This is an absolute piece of artwork, so many little curves and bends that was pure joy and extremely educational to watch you guys are the world's best 👌. I love your channel and I love you all to friends
Thank you David. Iv been doing this almost 30 years and it's only now that people can see how much care we take doing the inside as all people.see when the car is done is the outside :) youtube has given me even more pride in our work :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration I'll say one thing when you guys fix it you sure do it right it's better than factory when you guys get done with it..I wish I had my jaguar over there so you could fix it.. mine is really rough probably too rough tbh I thought about buying a new old stock car hull and putting everything from mine to the new one
This is the thing. To copy something so faithfully that will never be seen. It’s perfection
It surely makes a difference when you have the necessary tools and equipment to fabricate the parts. I enjoyed this video of a true craftsman.
э-э-э-э... тэтчеровские...☺☺☺
To make that outer skin from one piece of metal (( and several cuts) is amazing. Love it all gents, keep em coming, Joe
Thank you Joe that's much appreciated :)
Just wanted to make a quick comment before I forget. I've seen the uploads about who's who you guys are very talented. I know you guys or lad's have showed tools, how to make most of the parts properly. I was hoping that you could show us where you Steve started even before a shop. And I think as a viewer that watches a lot of different channels are you planning on what everyone else does as far as rebuild and restoration? Honestly that would really appeal to a wider range of audience. Keep on cracking on love the content.
Absolutely fascinating watch. Hats off to you Steve true craftsman
Thank you :)
It's always super deflating when you spend a lot of time making a panel to then offer it up and figure out you put the very last kink or bend in the wrong place and have to start over. Always found it super demoralising when doing my own cars. It's honestly very heart warming to see even people with far more experience and skill sometimes suffer from the same errors, thanks for leaving that in the vid! Fantastic craftsmanship!
Skill vs time. This man has the skills to make a repair like this worth it.
thank you :0
watching this is like therapy , so relaxing to see an artist at work.
Haha thank you :)
Incredible patience...and better metal work. I also figured out why Steve plays music over the videos...with the difficulty he had with fabricating the shape of that piece, he did not want us to hear all the cursing he was doing. Lol! Please keep these videos coming.
Haha, tbh I never get frustrated at making shapes out of metal as I enjoy it :)
Origami at its best
Haha it was kinda foldy 😁
I have to say, I don’t care at all about Shmee, or Colin Furze, or anyone ‘famous’. I’m happy to be relaxingly mesmerised by the incredible skill involved in this kind of work.
Always impressed how you guys roll a panel to match the curve of the car itself. Love the soundtracks too.
Thank you John :)
so good to see people fix it right like my self and not fill it full of filler and hide it . the amount of time in the body shop i find this when i do repairs is scary . awesome work there top class !
Steve, my flabber has never been so gasted, this fabrication work is just superb.
Thank you Eddie, I'm sure you know your support is always appreciated :) 👍
Saw some earlier videos, you're like the MX5 bodypanel whisperer.
Nice video, perfectly paced and good music to go along, you can really drown out the world when autobody rust keeps asking questions and posing problems.
Haha thank you :)
Wow. This is the best welding Restoration Video ive ever seen. Real professional Work👍
Metalwork Magicians. Really enjoy watching your fantastic skills at work. Creating something from nothing. Cheers
Thank you :)
Masterpiece,greetings from Germany
Thank you and Hello Germany :)
Absolutely mesmerizing! Crazy skillfull fabrication!
This video was a joy to watch, even the "reminder to self " moment near the start, simply added to the humble and honest portrayal of this talented guy, we have all had those tiny "oops " moments so kudos to him for not editing it out ! .....and a nice choice of music too !
Excellent work by a true craftsman.
Now that's craftsman ship at its finest , amazing work lads . Was a joy to watch such a beautiful car being remade/restored to its former glory like this .
Very cool! Master craftsmen right there! Half of your great work will never be seen again!
Yes but I know it's been done right so I'll sleep better 😁
I have never met so much patience and passion ! Congratulations !👍
another NA saved, thank you so much for putting in all this work
Really neat repair on a very fiddly area Steve. Nice work. They aren't technically very hard to do, but getting the repair to look so smooth is where the real skill comes in. I have to go buy one of them benchtop shears - don't have one & you use yours in every video - a sure sign they're useful.
Hi James. Thank you :) Yes it was only £80 off ebay and gets used all day every day :) a must for sure :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Wow, bargain. Such a cool tool, that, especially when considering the alternatives are far inferior (hacksaw, cutting wheel, hand snips).
Poetry in sped up motion 👍It's always a pleasure to watch an artist at work.
Thank you it's also a pleasure to make them as well 😁
I have to say that your videos make the programs shown on the Motor Trend TV channel look like foolish crap. Nice work showing what can be done with basic tooling.
Great video Steve and as usual great work. Just a few affordable basic tools, a ton of skill and another car saved from the scrap yard 👍 Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Nick and yes another one saved :)
Absolute skill and class. Much much respect for what you do in your workshop.
Thank you :)
Superb demonstration of skills, entertaining and relaxing to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding craftsmanship!
proper job Steve👍
Thank you :)
Love how you sneak up on making the replacement panel - patience with pace ! Nice
Yes it all comes together in the end :)
I really don’t understand where you guys get your patience from, this is once again another top quality repair, just wish there were more quality welders like you guys.
Totally agree. I learned how to weld when restoring my Ford Puma. This is exceptional work and Steve makes it look easy, but it isn’t. When I picked up my Puma yesterday after MoT and service, the mechanic (not technician!) showed me some welding on a car that he was working on. He explained that the work was done by a welding teacher!! Even with my limited skill I would not have sent out the vehicle in that state. So much for welding teaching today!!
I love my job so guess that helps and thank you for the support :)
Not all welding teachers can weld and specially on car body's, welding old thin sheet metal is a whole diferent ball game from regular welding :)
So impressed by all the work you do!
Thank you so much :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration I know every repair is different, but how much did this repair cost in total for example? Really curious how that compares to the place I've been to
The level of craftmanship you put into your work is amazing, please keep it up
Thank you :) we will :)
Wow Steve, possibly the best repair I have seen you do to date. Unbelievable skills. Well done.
Thank you Bob we do appreciate the support :)
Brilliant job Steve you’re an artist now we know where Ryan gets his talent from 👍
fantastic workmanship and attention to detail
Thank you very much!
Totally impressed every time. Thanks
Love it! What a superb high quality job! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you Colin. It's our pleasure :)
Steel sheet metal origami of the highest order!
Great stuff 👍👏
That’s bloody sorcery! Amazing
Another great video Steve outstanding workmanship as always thank you for sharing with us keep up the great work ♥️👌
Thank you Dean we will :)
My goodness you are a genius. All credit.
Pretty good skills from this Guy!
My respect from him, It not easy restore parts like that.
Bendind metal and create New shape, is the same of art!
Beautiful work...makes me feel even I can do it!!!!!
Impossibru? Not for Steve-san! I don't own or want a MX5 but I love the videos all the same. :)
Haha thank you for your continued support :)
Absolutely fantastic job
❤ your a master of metal its absolutely beautiful to watch
Love your work Steve!
Thank you I do appreciate the support :)
Your fabrication skills are mesmerising haha
Haha thank you :)
Amazaazing
... my NB2 has got a hole in this exact place... Hoping it won't need this much work!! Amazing skill
👍 Great stuff you,ve given me a little hope for the work on my Jeep tj. Thanks Paul
it's like origami with sheetmetal! well done mister!
Thank you David :)
Wow this man is more than good. 👍
Evening Steve. A master at work 👍🏻 It’s amazing how you can see the mess and with a steel ruler and a bit of tin fold it bend it and weld it it looks amazing 🤩
Thank you Steve it's much appreciated :)
You are a real artist
Thank you very much :)
Nah nothing is Impossible - well that's how it seems watching this repair - brilliant as ever
Haha thank you :)
Excellent work,in my fabricator welder apprenticeship my teacher always drilled into me about worrying about the parts you can't see as much as the parts you can, looks like you had the same tutor, just subscribed
Yes I do like to know the bit on the inside are as good as the ones on the outside :)
Quality work...
A pleasure to watch
Thank you for watching :)
Well done again Steve great workmanship 😊
Thank you Paul :)
What a piece of art well done🎉
Thank you Claire :)
Not many would bother to grind the soon-to-be-hidden welds. As a hobby builder I would, but to see it done in a commercial setting on an inexpensive car … bravo.
I have pride in my work :) I would know it's there :)
Just amazing fabrication skills!❤
Thank you Jeff :)
Great job Steve your the best!
Thank you Robert :) 👍
One word, amazing!😊
Thank you Barry :)
Very nice work.
Fantastic job.👍
I’ve just finished watching this video, this guy is something else, almost like he,s wasted working on cars, he should be a brain surgeon
Fantastic work mate , im doing very similar to the wifes impala. Panel beating is a hard job. Enjoyed every minute of this.
Excellent job!
some serious fabrication there, great result!
Thank you Roland :)
You wouldn't know that section has been restored great job again.
Thank you Carol :)
You make it look easy 😮
I was fascinated by your ability to develop a complicated shape by eye and a great deal of skill. It shows that it can be done and how. (Sigh) I have a long way to go.
Keep practicing, one day it will just click into place and feel second nature :)
Brilliant. I am going to borrow some of your tricks! Thanks!
Thank you, glad they help :)
Very skilled man.
Por Dios que buen trabajo!!!!! Impresionante
Well done great work!
Wow, amazing job Steven! I may have to watch this artistry in action one more time. It's amazing how all your pie cuts and angles resemble the original sill bottom. Fantastic work!
Only thing I observed is you didn't drill holes and place nuts behind the bottom of the sill for the front fender to attach to. Two threaded 10mm bolts secure the fender as you know.
Thabk you Michael, self tapping bolts then Waxoil are what we use :)
@Yorkshire Car Restoration Less likely to rust and seize up in the hole over time as well. Thanks.
That was impressive, respect.
thank you steve :)
Bloody amazing skills, how much I wish I could afford to get you to do my Freelander sills but I'm in Devon and skint! Going to try to do it myself, I can weld a little but watching the panel forming skills here humbles me tbh. Big respect and so nice to see things being done so well. I'm very glad my repair job is a lot more simple than the Mazda here OMG!
That is unbelievable, great skills 👌👍
Thank you Curt :)
He has done a good works.
Thank you :)
Could watch all day 👍🏼
thank you :) luckily i do it all day :)
Amazing job Steve....Love watching what you can do with flat sheet rather than buying repair panels!
If my Mx-5 ever needed rust repairs I know where I'd go!....👍👍
The inner upright which was the first panel that Steve repaired is not available as a ready made panel. While the outer sill is available there were other small bits and pieces that would need fabricated to complete this job.
@@drumtochtyglen thanks for the info I wasn't sure what panels were available, and we've all seen the poor fit some panels are made with and probably would cost far more too!
Thank you, we would be happy to do it if needed :)
Top quality steve 👏
Thank you Carl :)
amazing work/skills
Always great work Steve 👍👍
Thank you Lee :)
Masterful work ......well done
Thank you Paul :)
Very nice work 👍
Beautiful work. well done.
Thank you :) 👍
So good 👌🏻 would love to see how the inner sill is done from inside the car
The inner sill isn't done from inside the car. The back in nner edge is done from inside the car and the inner sill edge section is done when we cut of the bottom of the inner arch that was rusty but thank you for your comments.
Simply impressive
Thanks Rob :)
