    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
While trying to rescue Dia (Kagiso Kuypers), Danny (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Solomon (Djimon Hounsou) are caught in a massive airstrike.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
A South African mercenary and a Mende fisherman find their fates forever intertwined as they embark on a quest to obtain a rare and highly coveted pink diamond in director Edward Zwick's frantic adventure drama. Ripped from his family farm and forced to toil away in the sweltering South African diamond fields, Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) discovered an extraordinary rough stone of immeasurable value. Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a hired gun who specializes in the sale of so-called "blood diamonds" that are used to finance rebellions and terrorist organizations, and is currently serving time for smuggling. As a bloody civil war rages in Sierra Leone and Archer learns that Vandy has safely hidden the diamond in a place where no one would ever suspect, the pair enlist the aid of disillusioned American journalist Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) in recovering the treasure that has the power to save Vandy's family and provide the desperate Archer with a much-needed chance for redemption.

Solomon beating Poison to death was one of the satisfying things I've seen in a movie. You can feel all the hatred he has for this man, who ripped his family apart and kidnapped his son; and a man so confident that he was in control stumbling away in dumbstruck fear .

Solomon is a fisherman, a man who provides for his family, he's not a blood thirsty psychopath like the Captain or a well trained soldier like Archer. Killing for him, is an foreign concept. To commit himself to this brutal act he has to pause his humanity and let that animal part take over, let that lizard brain take control of his body.

Just watched this movie last week and loved this scene so much. A moment where it's almost a sin to not break the sixth commandment; a monster has kidnapped and abused and drugged your child and turned him into a killer, and dares to get in your way when you're fighting to save them? Solomon's animalistic, fatherly rage is actually inspiring. And the moment where an everyman hero righteously trashes a competent villain is just so feel good.

This scene where Solomon get's hi's revenge is purely horryfying, because it shows the primal side of the animal the human.
We may be a domesticated spices, but we are animals in every sense of the word.
When you come between an animal and it's offspring and family, you are gonna have a bad time.
    Prove me wrong.

I wonder if they gave Djimon a paddled shovel so he could actually hit the character of Captain Poison without hurting the actor, because such anger requires to have something at your hand's reach to eliminate a threat. I am sure that something like this must have been done in order to make the scene as realistic as possible.
