I spent August, September and October riding around Negros and Cebu island, mostly with Gio and other friends. the most epic roads are around Negros: the road that goes From Bacolod , San Carlos and back to Duma it's a must. Back in Duma for a whole year this coming September; hopefully we will meet at some point. I appreciate your sensible approach to Phiippines. Thank you for sharing

I’am a lot older than you, at 70 and my fitness level and weight have so improved in the 3 years I’ve been living in Thailand. I do a 5K run once a week in around 28mins with a running club, play badminton, swim regularly, loads of walking, weights in the gym. Being older I won’t ever need to do more than a couple of hours a day of strenuous exercise. It takes time to climatize to the heat and humidity, so it’s important to slowly adjust! Another opportunity to meet more people is the Hash House Harriers groups, if you google them they have many groups in Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia where it started many years ago!

Glad to hear that you're enjoying Pinas (short for Pilipinas) I'm glad that you are starting to venture out meeting new people, getting new friends.
Have you ever experienced a typhoon yet since you've been there? It usually from the start from June thru about September or October, sometimes November, it's the rainy season and that's when typhoon come through the island.
Have you seen a Shakey's Pizza there yet? 😄. They're actually not bad. When I lived there, my Ya-ya love's Shakey's and I took her there often.
And I am also glad to hear that your health is getting better. Like the saying goes health is wealth.

As far as storms, nothing big yet. Once was close but went north. I believe the season will be starting up in September. I have a plan around that so it'll be interesting.
I haven't tried Shakey's pizza and others too have mentioned how good it is. I'll have to try it.

just avoid using cebu pacific when traveling domestically, it sucks..you'd rather use air asia I guess or PAL

Chris - great update. Good to know that things are working out well for you, and that you’re really happy with how things are shaping up there. I’m glad you also shared some of the nerves that you had the first couple months there, where you may have second guessed your decision a little and been a little concerned about whether you made a good decision to leave it all and move out there. I can imagine that I will go through that, hopefully make it through that, as I get settled and begin figuring things out. Not in the Philippines yet, however! Stay well.

@@CarefreeChris You’re an easy going guy I don’t think it will be a problem for you to connect and make friends. Sports and other physical activities are easily accessible and affordable. You can find groups that do anything you like to do and join them. If you want to go out at night, go to good areas and nice bars. Filipinos like to see friends regularly even almost everyday and constantly be in communication with them.

Hey Chris, that sounds like some great plans you have going! Congratulations on getting the bike registered. I still think it's crazy to have to wait 3 months for the registration to go through. I've heard it's common for people to get a plate made and stick it on their vehicle until the real one goes through. It's probably a good idea that you chose to do it the right way.
Yeah. I actually got a plate made in the mall. They can take a couple years to get your actual license plate.

Hey Chris, nice update and glad you are digging it on the idea of living in Cebu. I was just recently back there in the April-May time frame and stayed at an Airbnb at the Horizon 101 tower. Ayala mall is my favorite mall there. Sounds like you have now got your feet firmly planted on the ground there. Yea! I can imagine that you feel that it is time to spread your social wings a bit more. In not meaning to sound egotistical just be confident in knowing and remember that "You Are The Prise" (as in foreigner) there! If you are looking for Filipina dating material shooting for 5 to 6s (scale) are a good start. If you are looking for marriage material you should be shooting for a 10. All the best and happy hunting!

Ya, I'll definitely look you up if and when I get there as you suggested on your reply in an earlier video. However, there is a new factor (other than the testing/muzzling requirement to fly there) that makes me hesitate even more to pull the trigger. It is the elephant in the room: the possible escalation of the current tension in the WPS to a full-on conflict. Cebu is the second largest metro area in PH not to mention the presence of an air base in Mactan that is designated as one of the EDCA sites.
I’m just happy to be on an island here chilling I’m not worried about any of that stuff honestly
I still have about four years before the final move. I am waiting to qualify for my government pension. I am to young for SS yet. I am already thinking about those first few months of realizing I am uprooting and starting a whole new life. Its a little scary and exciting at the same time. I do already have some friends there so that helps. I wondered why no-one mentioned this anxiousness you feel, when you first arrive. That needs to be talked about more.

Chris just suggestion, I am a filipino and I worked for 7 years in Washington.
About the dating, I highly recommend you to go to birthday's and weddings or any celebrations of Filipino neighborhood or friends there and meet Filipinas. Instead of using dating apps like tinder or tantan or just plain Facebook dating. You can meet decent and educated Filipinas in these events, and don't you worry, they are more than happy to welcome you in their parties, don't ever think that you are crashing the party or unwelcome. It's some sort of a bragging rights for them to have you on their party. Go and socialize bro, don't be afraid. Filipinos are warm and not rude at all. Don't be shy and hitch every big celebration you can see, all the aunties and the ladies will be there curious about you. Good luck!

Wow.... in the United States. Going to parties or a wedding when not invited could cost you your life. Ya.... thats how serious crashing a partie or a wedding can be.
So, if I understand you correctly. Philippino Women go to these events, to potentially meet a romantic partner? Well that makes sense. So... if a "expat" goes to a wedding, in the Philippines, what is the proper etiquette?
Should they bring a gift? And how does a person respond when asked why are you at this wedding? What I have discovered is, food is extremely important and serious. So I do have a few questions:
Is it OK to eat any food? And should the vistor ask first? And if you don't eat, is it considered rude? Do you wait for others, before eating?
Also, when visiting any new place, I have discovered that being quite, humble, polite, and respectful. Goes a longs way in earning acceptance. Also, doing a little research before going helps a lot.
@@jamesnash6101 Gifts are unnecessary but if you decide too, just bring some food or a simple bottle of wine. Yes it is okay to eat any food, if u wanna eat first among the others, just ask the most involved aunt in the kitchen or the most flamboyant drunk uncle lol, don't worry they will treat u like greeks treat their supplicants in mythology lol. its not rude to reject food offers for health reasons but remember you decided to go to a party, of course u are supposed to go there hungry.

I'm also planning to dedicate my 1st year in the Philippines to exercise, primarily yoga for, balance, mobility, flexibility & muscle tone, plus the meditation benefits, yoga also offsets weight lifting for skeletal strength. Apparently I'll do so much walking in the Phils, that I'll only need to do 30 minutes per day of swimming, for low-impact cardio.
The big factor was time. I’m financially free here where I have the time to dedicate to exercise. I did not have the time to do that United States. Between traveling around from city to city as well as working 50 60 hours a week I just didn’t have time.
@@CarefreeChristotally get it, I'm in the same situation here in Anaheim, I try to consistently do yoga, weights, hiking but... I'll be 59 in July, I'll retire in Cebu City for my 61st bday. I'll do 1-month vacations there in 2024 & again in 2025, before I move there in 2026.

As far as making friends, Facebook is a good option. You could also do some of the meet ups if it got going on at like the social and other restaurants. Yeah, dating is a whole video in itself :-)

I've found a good burger. They're a little hard to find but there are some options. Abaca Backing Company so far is my favorite

Just curious, why use dating apps, i've heard it's always better boots on the ground. Most CZcamsr's say it's best to find in person and it's easy to find someone, so I would really be interested in knowing the reason why it would be necessary to use a dating app.

I think it will be interesting following your journey on finding a good girl, I follow a lot of CZcamsrs and noticed even when they live there they find girls online, that's why I'm a little confused at if you live there and others make it seem easy to find a girl I don't understand why they couldn't meet them in person. I have been to the Philippines last January to see someone I met online and seems to be a good girl, I just think it would be interesting seeing what it takes to find someone without going on a dating app.
It’s mainly by meeting people. Like being introduced to someone. Happens a lot.

So Yellow Cab pizza is Ok? I had a few guys from USA tell me it very good, I like thin crust, non sugary tomatoe sauce and real cheese, not that quick melt stuff they use.
It's good and I'm more of a thicker crust guy. I didn't choose the "thin crust" and went with the original and would describe it as thin. The pizza was good and I would have preferred something with a little better crust is all.

@@JanjanPerez Shakey they have morphed it into a Philippines pizza chain, don't taste like what a real shakeys tastes like in the USA. I did have a couple thin crust small cheese pizza while in Davao, better than most pizza in Philippines.

I picked up a royal Enfield Hunter 350. It’s a brand new bike this year.
@@CarefreeChris While that's a small bike for the USA, just enough for fwy speeds, it's a large bike for the Phills, I'd be interested in buying one & going on rides with a small group of guys, or your eventual gf & her sister could be on the back of our bikes😂

I noticed most of the guys there call their scooters "motorbikes" they even call them "motorcycles." So these guys you're going on trips with, do they ride large scooters or do they actually have real motorcycles like your Royal Enfield?
I hear ya. The guys I rode with on the ride all had Enfields. Mostly classics but all RE. Was a blast. Hadn’t done a group ride in ages.
If you have capability / finance / time / companions.... ISLAND HOPPING (tourism) in the Philippines would be the best content / endeavor here in our country

Im 40 now and have spine issues thay are disabling. In the states there is not really anything other than just pbysical therapy...but everythijg is so expensive and i live in a tiny town about 20 minutes away from a small town where a gym would be

Physical therapy is cheaper here in Cebu 🙂 So are massages.
If I may suggest, you could look into yoga and swimming as physical exercise that helps with your spinal problems. Both can be found here too

When I came here to US, I notice that dating an American guy are straight forward, they are not persistent in pursuing a woman, they move on to the next one, unlikep Filipinos they are very "makulit", hahaha 😂 just my opinion, good luck in finding the lucky one. ❤

The ideal situation is for 25 year old Filipina to marry a 65 year old foreigner. In 20 years, he dies... for 20 years of taking care of a wiser older man she gets roughly 60 years of SS and retirement benefits. Financial example: $3500.00 month x 12 months x 60 years....thats $2.5 million. it's a no-brainer for any smart gal. Thats 142 million in Philippine pesos after he passes.
I don’t think they can get access to SS unless you live in the US for some time

I don’t know them, but I’ve been trying to reach out to a bunch of Filipino vloggers here and a lot of them are hard to get a hold of
@@CarefreeChris Leah’s husband Gary has his email in the credits. A lot of them frequent Ground Zero coffee shop. Also I met Gary(Everyman has a story) at the farmers market on Sunday in Valencia. His wife has Every woman has a story. Pea has a lot of single Filipinas on her channel. Gio has a lot of friends in relationships with Filipinas and I bet they could introduce you.

Beware eating pizza from Pizza Hut ...I got the worst case of food poisoning ever from there in Cebu. Had the meat lovers. Philippinos have very different standards for storing food.

-Off topic - the 360 camera is great for walking around context but for a lone sit and chat like this you look like popeye w the Huge forearms and hands and a tiny head😂. For simple chat You might want to revert to a standard phone lens to avoid the cartoon effect. 🤔🤷🏼♂️
