- I booked a charter boat to fish for cod with subscribers.We were fishing the Bristol channel on tuskar 2. Unfortanlly we didnt get the cod we were after but landed quite a few nice thornback rays, dogfish and whiting. We will be back cod fishing in the bristol channel soon.

my mate did that once out of aberystwth aboard endeavour .lucky some one pulled it up an hour later .with the tides off cardiff yours was torn away pretty quick dave .

Went out on Tusker 2 yesterday on a big tide. The rip of the tide made it unfashionable. No fish could swim in such a big flow of water. Our rods bent over all the time couple of dogs and strap conger around slack water. Cracking boat, very helpful skipper, weather perfect, baits perfect. Just wrong water conditions. You can't blame the skipper as he wants to make money. But knowing what I know now only go fishing Cardiff bay on small tides.
We fished a big tide and did OK. Hopefully you have another trip with haydn at some point he is a great bloke

🤣that was so funny, loved it, shame for you losing your gear, but yes that can happen to anyone, the line on the reel must have crossed over and caused a knot just like crack off,
shame no cod in the bristol channel again, its rare now to see cod/codling caught in the channel these days, just mostly ray ray ray and more ray and horrible eels now,
people keep saying (especially the tackle shops) that there is still cod there but the truth is they are very little now, small and far less,
over fishing but mostly its because they are moving further north
