- What would happen if you touched a spinning lawnmower? We made a ballistics gel hand and put it into a spinning lawn mower and weed whacker to find out.

Can confirm. A friend of mine in high school essentially encountered a mower in the same way as your first attempt. His injury was basically identical.
😳
Did he lose his fingers or did he just get his hand mangled??
Uh... what? How?
@@dumb_emo5 He lost up to the first knuckle of his ring finger and the very tip of his pinky.
@@funasylumstudio I wasn't there, but his story was that he was preoccupied and reached under it to remove some debris. When he did, the debris hit the blade and dragged his hand into it.
The lawnmower footage is wild because it looks like it's going slow because of frame rate ... and then you see the slow mo and it's so fast
About 50 years ago I was caring for an elderly gentleman's lawn. He had me trim around all the trees in his orchard, then he followed later with his riding mower. Somehow his foot got under the deck. The blade split his toes horizontally, then the blade bent as it moved through his foot, and exited splitting his heel vertically. It took about 6 months before he got out of the hospital due to reconstructive surgeries and some extremely serious infections. He always used a cane after that, and said anytime he put his foot on the ground, it felt like he stepped in a spool of barbed wire. Even with all that, he was about the most pleasant man you could ever hope to associate with. He died from complications of that accident about 3 years later. That's an attention getter for a teenager.
50years ago though

I actually caught my hand in a spinning lawnmower blade a few years back. I got lucky, 31 stitches total between 3 of my fingers, but got to keep them all! Definitely painful.
Well thank you for confirming our theory. The call of the void is no longer there
I wasn't that lucky. Pain is good because it means it's still there. Lost middle and ring fingertips on my left hand hand in 2002. I'm fine, tho. They say as long as you have your thumb you're okay.
@@jackcobb1090 very true the pain wasn’t as bad as you’d think as it be getting a finger chopped off.
@@BigSteve34 Severed nerves. But next day sucks ass. 😫
Poor anatomical hand. No tendons, muscles or ligaments. The weed wacker would have cut the skin on the fingers
Did we ever get an explaination as to what happened to the other guys? i miss them and how do we even know that's a real lawnmower if it hasn't been lick tested
I’ve heard that they’ve moved to a different shop and made a new channel called “Cars and Stuff”
They flew too close to the sun...
@@loganbaker007 yup thats them
@@loganbaker007 Oh thank you. I was wondering what happened.
@@JosefRudy they only made 3 videos haven’t uploaded in 5 months...
My friend back in middle school had an electric lawnmower and his parents told him to mow the lawn. He unplugged it, turned it upside down to apparently fix a bent blade! His younger brother saw a cord running through the door and decided to plug it in. My friend lost several fingers which they never did find!
I was run over by a riding lawnmower when I was 8YO. It took a chunk out of the side of my foot and cut my heel bone in half. After a skin graft and 3-4 surgeries I healed up nicely.
Don't let your kids play around lawn care equipment.
How did you get RUN OVER like who was driving
I love these “primal urge” videos
I actually know someone who encountered a lawn mower the exact way you described, he tripped over something while pushing the mower and fell with his hand going directly into the blades, lucky the safety engaged and shut it off when he fell so it wasnt quite spinning at its fullest, but still did a really nasty number on his hand, he just about lost the tip of one of his fingers and had really deep cuts all down his hand from the blades somehow hitting but not going through as his hand went further in, so he got some like ladder style cuts, he was fine though, bit of surgery and maybe a couple weeks recovering and hes back delivering parcels for a living, probably with some real nasty scars to boot, probably wont go using a lawn mower again
I hope hes doing alright
I’ve been in the lawn business for 35 years and never once put my hand near the blade when spinning. You would think this is common sense! I have a friend who had a worker shear the tips off 2 fingers adjusting the height of the deck. i’ve only had three accidents with workers. First was a hedge trimmer cutting through pants six stitches, second was a chainsaw that cut through pants minor cuts and third was the guy who stepped on a nail and it went through the top of his shoe.
That third one is my biggest fear
Stepped on a square roof tack when I was a little tyke. Went right through my hush puppies. Luckily those are very short and I didn't have anything a band aid wouldn't cover. Those tacks can point straight up because of the flat side.
I can only imagine how a full piercing feels. Wowzers
This brings back a very painful, ugly memory for me. I replaced a water pump on an old car and wasn't sure if I put the fan blade back on in the right direction. So I reached down while it was running to see if it was moving air and stupidly dropped my hand right into it. Broke my two middle fingers and laid all four fingers open. I sat in the Phoenix ER for six hours before they even looked at me, they took one look and said (oh, we need to call a specialist). Two more hours later he showed up to my now super swollen hand and painfully put it back together. That was over 40 years ago and I can still see the scars, one finger doesn't quite point straight, and two have always had numb tips from the nerve damage. All from one second of stupidity...
I'd say most of that's from six hours of negligence. Took out my radial artery and a tendon or two with a window and they tried to convince me (at 13 years old) that it would be better to wait overnight... with an open wound and a compression wrap on my wrist. I didn't let the poor specialist sleep, but I had almost full range of motion two years later.
Edit: this was in Tucson. Maybe it's an AZ doctor thing to make people wait. lol
@@gunslingersymphony5015 From Cali. It's an American thing to make people wait lmao
@@whitehorse8558 From what I understand now it's a doctor thing. lol Of course it's even worse when using any government funded insurance, no matter where you are.
@@gunslingersymphony5015 Ya that's what I mean, it's national I'd not global
@@whitehorse8558 For sure.
You may not have been able to wipe, but good thing this is the Waterjet Channel
Worlds best bidet 😏
Now put the running weed whacker under the water jet. 😁
i love how the camera framerate makes it looks like the lawnmower is barely moving
The lawnmower thing happened to a cousin of mine. He lost 2 and 1/2 fingers. No joke. It was an old rigged lawn mower that you had to disconnect the cable to the spark plug to turn it off, which he did, but, accidentally made contact when he lift it up. It was nasty.. says he just saw something fly across the lawn.
Do a fingerprint scan with that jelly
How much pressure would it take it break a fleshlight? Waterjet after dark
My husband knows. He told me a story where he was cutting grass covered in dew. It kept sticking to the mower clogging the grass shoot and he kept pulling it out. He put his left hand in instead and it smacked his thumb. His thumb apparently started gushing blood. It took a quarter inch slice of skin off and fractured his thumb. His thumb and nail look different from his right now. He didn't go to the hospital for a day and wrapped it up. He said the doctor told him he was lucky he still had his finger
Thanks for the Australian translation. Although hardware stores are trying to push 'line trimmer' on us these days.
Keep whipper snipper alive!
They should have put a brush head on that trimmer then let's see how bad that fake hand would have looked afterwards
I didn't know we needed high def footage (or should I say handage) of a hand being shoved in a lawnmower, but I can conclusively say that this video has convinced me that it is not a very good idea.
There's something oddly hilarious about the camp stove still having bismuth all over it.
Next time you guys do a ballistics gell body part you should coat it with plastidip as an analog for skin.
I have never had the urge to stick my hand into the blades of a lawnmower entil you said that...
I knew a guy that cleared a clogged mower....took the tip of a finger...we named him Lawnmower Man from then on out.
Creative genius with that name
As a trauma/ER nurse I can confirm your findings.
I can tell you what happens to a toe when it comes into contact with a lawn mower blade.
It will cut your toe off!
Been there and done that and the funny thing was that it didn’t hurt as bad as many would think.
It didn’t bleed very much either!
Another guy commented and said it felt like the worst stubbed toe ever. So my guess is a stubbed toe is max pain threshold for the toe area. I'm surprised it wouldn't hurt more tho
@@shawnd567 This would make sense, you don't have the MOST amount of nerve down in your feet, and since the blades are fairly dull, you'd probably feel more sore. I can't say though, I have not gotten my feet cut off my a lawn mower.
I used to fix and repair petrol mowers... seen a whole foot chopped in half before.. I saw the aftermath not the actual chopping 😅😅😅
Yikes 😳
Not just off, also disconnect the spark plug, on most mowers it's really easy. I especially do that when clearing material from Rototiller tines, those just look like manglers!
That there's some very satisfying "call of the void" science 🤣
A friend of mine lost her 3 middle fingers in her left hand by a lawnmower blade. She lost those fingers down to the middle finger joint.
ive been hit with weedwacker wire at a slow speed and its an incredible painful sting. I could only imagine how it would feel running at full power. In my case it didnt break skin.
It's like an whiplash
Me watching czw where a wrestler got hit in the back high speed
Same, tho in my case it was almost full throttle. I can almost guarantee that no pain you ever experienced is as painful as getting whipped by a trimmer. It doesnt last long but in those few seconds of the initial sting youd love not to be alive rn.
@@Sharpless2 yeah. I think burns are probably worse depending on severity. But I know burns over a large area make you want to die
I had this happen to me a long while back, I'm embarrassed to even say!! But I was INCREDIBLY lucky and had the blade hit my index finger head on, I audibly heard the RPMs of the motor go down as it happened it was that strong an impact, but I only suffered a quite bad gash that was just awkward and painful to heal. My nail and bone saved my finger from a serious injury. A series of limitations/complications with the mower meant it was much faster and easier to clear out a shute by hand while it was on. Moral of the story no matter how safe you think are being, and how knowledge you think you are doesn't matter when it comes to power tools. Always stay safe and take things slowly, never rush.
As a victim of a lawn mower accident I can confirm this is is nearly accurate. For me it was my leg instead of my hand and the mower was a riding mower but basically yes blades damaged my bone only hairline crack not serious but I’d did fillet whole side of my leg off including some of my calf. Lucky rn be alive as my doctor constantly tells me bc it happened when I was just 6 yrs old. Had lost so much blood I was constantly fading in and out but I somehow stayed awake
I can from personal experience you are spot on with the weed whacker as when I was like 12 my hand did indeed get hit with one
This isnt the waterjet channel anymore. Its the ballistics gel channel now
Next try jamming it in a snowblower since it’s going to be winter soon
One time I accidentally ran over my dogs toy bone made of like polycarbonate (which is probably way stronger than an actual bone) and it snapped it clean in half and took off some other chunks too, meaning a lawn mower could probably snap your femur in half I'd your leg somehow got caught 😰
😟
Yeah, it's a motor, I mean it's really unthinkable to imagine what they can do to a human body
@@funasylumstudio a motor with blades to boot
Me: *Snaps femur in a lawn mower*
Mom: Its that damn phone! 👿
hahahaha another great video.... THAT music, oh man, I was raised on Bugsbunny, so THAT music (falling in love) while watching that hand get mauled... hahahahaha
Anyone else die laughing at the queso moment?
I had a friend that was a mowing his lawn on a hill. He was pulling the lawn mower back up the hill and he slipped and put his foot underneath it. Took care of the end of his foot. I think he still had the little piggy that went wee wee wee all the way home but that was it.
The reverse shocker.. one in the pink.. two in the stink 🤣🤣
Hello fellow Victims! Had my heal cut off when I was about 5-6 years old. Back of my foot is straight down and only scarring the main tendon. Makes it difficult to wear shoes but foot works great. Stay safe.
Did you expect anything less? I mean a lawnmower will cut 1 in or larger branches and brush without stalling. Of course it’s going to chop your fingers or toes off if you stick them in the path of the blades! I can also assure you a whipper snipper will most certainly take your toes or fingers off, you just had an underpowered battery one with small diameter line in it.
I just love how Peer Gynt was playing in the background in the beginning
I also know a guy who is driving a lawn mower while he was drunk rolled it on a hill and cut off his hand had to be airlifted from his house
He didn’t need to be airlifted. Throw a tourniquet on it and he would be good for several hours, plenty of time to get to the hospital. They overuse airlifts to suck more money out of insurance companies. Your average airlift going ~30 miles costs over $50k.
No I get where you're coming from but we live in a rural part of Massachusetts and he was so drunk and his blood was so thin that the paramedic said he was going to make it but I definitely agree with you about you overusing for insurance
You touch the handle of the lawn mower but not the engine or the blade while running. Engine even after running for a few minutes will burn and the blade while running will cause you to lose your fingers or your hand and possibly bleed out and die.
I love How these two always sounds like they're high asf 💀🏴☠️
The music is very calming
Use waterjet to sharpen blade then do it again
You'd think this is common sense, but I've met people who injured themselves pretty severely doing just that.
I love it!! Make me lol, Awesome video !!
Palmer looked like he was cosplaying Cody Slab.
Atp might as well use the ballistic hand to test the things we all want to touch, my suggestion is the metal rod in the bottom of an electric oven 😂😂💯🔥
I had a best friend growing up that was missing all his toes on his right foot missing because when he was 4 he had them amputated by a lawn mower, and I still wanted this entire video. Thinking about it, not sure if that says more about the entertainment value of your content or my deranged curiosity
My dad cut his finger off with a lawn mower while trying to dislodge a stick that had jammed up the blade, the doctor put it back on crooked
Also it was the tip of his right ring finger so these results are very accurate 😂
didn’t know we were recreating past events 😟
The calming music while you casually eviscerate that hand.
One of my friends lost his leg and some toes on the other foot to a lawnmower as a kid. Scary stuff
Happened to my grandfather. He lost a few fingers and had nerve damage. I was a kid, freaked the hell out of me. I still remember it vividly.
FOR YOUR HEALTH!!! STEVE BRULE!!!
I miss seeing Mitchell the Channel's not the same without him
Where is he?
I do too and yeah it's not the same, but whatever happened at least these guys are genuinely entertaining and fun in their own way enough that I've started to look forward to new videos from them.
Yeah I was into watching them on the ls swap snow cat but it just seemed if I remember correctly it just stopped posting about the snowcat I don't know if there is an ending to it maybe and they don't post a lot this is my favorite platform for them too
My friend lost index finger as a kid to a lawnmower. Middle was cut off but reattached.
I was watching someone do a return at lowes for a "malfunctioning" push mower. After starting it to show the problem he stuck his fingers right under the deck to show that the blade wasn't spinning. It was definitley spinning when he did that.
Well if you're a 4 year old kid and its a riding lawnmower, you lose you right leg, and left knee.... 🤣
Important scientific research👍
Now yall just need to get your ballistic gel hands on a battlebot.
The danger sign doesn't lie. They WILL cut your fingers away.
oh.. the brotherhood.. lol
I'm with you man I'm not paying that
He could've just bought a hand for $95 while he went through all that work...
I can vouch for these results. 32 external stitches 15 internal....only lost the tips...
Just the tip
When I was young, I had a similar experience, however I was extremely lucky. I was playing with an old mower and was trying to let it idel as slow as possible. That's what saved my hand.
For some reason I wanted to tilt it, while it was idling, and grabbed mower from below. Thanks to the slow speed, the whole thing simply hurt. Maybe I was bleeding a little, but thankfully I didn't need to see a doctor.
Just stuck my hand in the mower because of this video. I though it was going to be okay. It was not...

Yes actually my mother who works in the er had this exact same situation happened to some dude here in Florida, her job was picking out the rocks and dirt from the dudes severed fingers, so they could sew it back on, they did but I don't know how he's doing now this happened like 5 weeks ago now

I once caught a spoon in the lawn mower, the spoon part litterally flew off at like 70 kph, and the hand part was the only one remaining, DONT MESS WITH LAWN MOWER
My brain: don't even think about it..
That's why you use those old school mechanical push mowers
I just wish I saw this video 47 years ago
My Dad accidentally did this to himself in his later 80's. he couldn't hear the engine and reached under while it was flat on the ground thinking there was something underneath
Reminds me of the time i got my fingers caught by the belt on my snowblower. I was really tired after working 14 hours straight and wasn't paying attention and the belt grabbed my glove and pulled my fingers into it. I got lucky but ended up with 60 stitches and 2 broken fingers
ok now im subscribing!
I don't think your hand is as fat as the gelatin hand. The mold probably stretched a bit under the weight of the gelatin. Maybe try putting it back into the casing.
I love how you guys do stupid shit but it’s so funny
What the hell was that blue stuff doing in the pot? 😂
I've been calling it a whipper snipper my whole life. I don't know if that's from my parents hearing it from an aussie and fell in love. It is a better name then weed whacker.
I know a guy who lost control of his push mower up a hill. He never wears open toe shoes anymore
