Hope you enjoyed the video, we visited Anitkabir a few months ago in Ankara. This is Atatürk's final resting place. czcams.com/video/eBKdnhv4ObM/video.html
Congratulations on preparing such a respectful video about the commemoration of Atatürk. Every year our respect, longing, gratitude and love to him are increasing exponentialy. Atatürk said “ one day my mortal body will turn to soil but the Turkish Republic will stand forever.” I am always grateful to Atatürk for all the things he did.
Greetings Melih! We really appreciate your comment, what an incredible quote. It has been wonderful to learn about Atatürk over the last few months! :)
What a incredible experience you guys had :) I am Turkish and have been Living in Sydney - Australia almost my whole life. I have never experienced this in Dolmabahce -Istanbul in my life. I had tears because Ataturk is loved by the Turks. He's also a Hero. I felt the energy here
We miss him so much. Thank you for sharing the same feelings with us. Our ancestor lives in our hearts. Good thing you chose us, Mustafa Kemal Pasha. Father of Turks. Ideas Don't Die. We are grateful💐🇹🇷🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
If you were on the street instead of inside the palace. You'd most probably see that most pedestrians and most cars would stop when the horns begin and people would pay respect standing still for a minute. It's best described like a nation-wide flashmob to an outsider. I've heard stories from some tourists which were unaware of the day and they were all afraid when that happened. They mostly think some drill or some attack is happening. Then they see people are standing still instead of running, and experience a twilight zone event in their minds. But, it's just our yearly respect to our great founding father.
Thanks for your good explanatıon about Mustafa Kemal ATATURK. He was not just a hero, he was a uniquely magnificent person who gave a message to the whole world about the future of humanity with his struggles and the spiritual legacy he left behind.❤ Peace at home peace in the world,,!! ❤Mustafa Kemal ATATURK.
Great video! - you did a good job of being subtle & respectful. I enjoyed hearing the background and history you shared. Looks like it was quite a powerful experience
Nice video. Gordon, you keep saying that Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was the field marshal at Gallipoli. That is not correct. He was only 34 years old, and only a lieutenant colonel at that time. Liman von Sanders from the German High Command was the field marshal. However, Ataturk (and some other Turkish Officers) had serious disagreements with Liman von Sanders, German High Command, and Turkish High Command (which was basically directed by German High Command, including Enver Pasha). The main disagreement at Gallipoli was that Germans wanted to let the landing troops land and wanted Turkish troops to fight against those troops on the ground whereas Ataturk and some other Turkish Officers (excluding Enver Pasha) supported the idea of obliterating the landing forces during landing because they believed that letting the forces land and fighting on the ground would cause unnecessary casualties on the Turkish side. However, this idea was not supported by Turkish High Command which was under the influence of German High Command. The reason that Germans wanted to let the forces land first was that they wanted Turkish Army to give them so much pain that Common Wealth would have to bring in more forces which would ease the situation on the German fronts against Britain and France. Furthermore, believe it or not Ataturk was not liked by Turkish High Command due to his out of the ordinary ideas. In fact , he and a few of his friends got arrested in 1905 when he was a Captain and detained in one of the infamous prisons in Istanbul, Bekiraga Zindani. He got out of prison as a result of his military school commander's, Riza Pasha, efforts; but sent to Damascus in order to send him away from Istanbul. He was considered to be dangerous for the monarchy. Riza Pasha, apparently, put in extra ordinary efforts to get him and his friends released, and stated that these lads are the future of the country. At Gallipoli, Ataturk was assigned to command the 57. Infantry Regiment (as a lieutenant colonel) which was a reserve force located in Bigali Koyu. He was very far away from the landing site; however, he was surveilling the situation at Ariburnu himself. It is said that on the day of April 25th, he tried to contact the High Command to find out what the situation and orders were, but he could not get through. He, then, decided to move his regiment with his own initiative from Bigali koyu through Conkbayiri to Ariburnu, and stopped the landing. He, himself, described that moment as the moment that changed the outcome of the battle. Had he not made that decision, had he been able to contact the High Command, the battle would have been lost. After that, there is a series of events that result in his promotion to colonel, and he ends up commanding the entire region kicking Liman von Sanders and Enver Pasha out of the equation. But he was not a field marshal up until 2022 (Büyük Taarruz). Also, if you are planning to go to Canakkale again on April 25th of 2022, you may want to contact Gökhan Tarkan Karaman. He is an expert on the coves, trenches, paths, everything that has to do with Gallipoli. He also did some work with Peter Jackson (the Lord of the Rings guy). He lives in Canakkale. If you cannot get a hold of him though for whatever reason, just keep in mind that he goes to Bigali Koyu every April 25th, and walks the same path as the one that Ataturk took 57. Regiment from Bigali Koyu thorugh Conkbayiri to Ariburnu. He does it at the same time as Ataturk did; early in the morning. I think around 6-7 am. Up until Covid-19, this walk was performed by a large crowd, but not in the last 2 years due to Covid-19. Something to keep in mind.
