Here in FL...Insurance told my dad 'Get a new roof or we're dropping you.' Had 3 estimates so far and all 3 said we don't need a new roof...
It's not the contractors that are corrupt...it's the Insurance industry....
You, the roof guy and the insurance guys don't have the same goals. Where I am the city forces you to change your fire detectors every ten years. Whether they work or not isn't the subject. Subject is prevention. I'm not saying it is right but it is one hell of a stretch to claim it is corruption. I'd go for overzealous bureaucracy

I sold my home on November 28 2022. My Insurance was $500.00 The first year 2006. In 2022 it was $5000.00 for garbage coverage.
Its both. America was in the work force instead of raising their kids for the last several decades and now we're all paying for it with these middle school bullies
Folks don't have to be dying for estate bulks coming in, folks may have inherited, and held for so long

The parents are each working a full and part time job, the cars are getting old, house maintenance has fallen behind, one child needs braces, the credit cards are maxed out and carrying balances to purchase groceries, taxes and gasoline have increased, the retirement fund has been depleted and no contributions have been made to it the past 18 months. The last resort is to start selling things off before the inevitable next step is living in a dilapidated RV or moving your entire family back with your parents or in-laws. This is happening to good people who lived modestly, below their means did absolutely nothing wrong.
That sounds a lot like what happened in 2008.
My favorite videos on u tube, I still remember .33 cheeseburgers at McDonald's in 1985,seems like yesterday.
I can remember 15c burgers and 19c cheeseburgers in early to mid '60s at mickey D's!

My parents were born in 1930
and 1931 and passed in 2018 and 2019. I’m so glad they are not here to witness how quickly and to what level our country has declined.
Mine too. It was the Greatest Generation, and my generation benefited from that for sure. I have hope for the younger generation and my son works harder than I did and hope things improve for him.

I was wonder if you could ask the Coin Guy to go through his process of testing coins and other materials brought into his store by customers. I believe it would be helpful so I could use those standards when buying from other dealers. Thank you. Love your channel.

whats even more sad is when people bring this stuff to the bank had someone bring in 195 dollars face in Canadian silver dimes the other month i sagged them because i knew it was worth way more then that guy just didnt have time to find someone to sell it to

Another late happy birth day to Guy 69 years young. I turn 64 on Sept 29th and connect and injoy hearing Guys stories and for me after doing 20 years in the Navy our stories can be very interesting and plenty full. It is so refreshing to hear Guy over 99.9% of the snake oil coin sellers and coin dealers on youtube that I wouldn't buy or sell them a coin if my life depended in it. I hope we have many more happy years of vedios and stories from the Coin Guy they never get old. 😊

FYI - With tip, and with one person only having a bowl of soup, I just went to a regular sit down restaurant that cost me $150.00 for 4 people. It was like $122.27 without the tip I think. I remember just a few years ago being able to go out with 4 people and it only cost $60 or maybe $70 with the tip. Crazy costs today!

@@bigbaddms 10% for poor service. 15% for average service. 20% to 25% for good service, depending on the food. Especially important today when so many people are struggling and restaurants are having trouble just staying open.
I buy a take-out now and again, last time I did so I had to recheck the prices as it looked like a mistake.

I sold the only 100 ounce silver bar I've ever owned in December 1994. I needed Christmas money. At the time, spot silver was below $5/ounce. IIRC, I was paid slightly over spot for it, so around $500, maybe a bit less. But, I bought it one year earlier when spot was below $4/ounce, so I didn't actually lose anything. Wish I had it now!
It was a lot easier to buy something like that in the 1990s. But, it had been nearly flat for so long...oh well.
