    📅🆓NEET Rank & College Predictor 2024: infinitylearn.com/neet-rank-p... If a bag of chocolates is kept open before us, we try grabbing as many chocolates as possible! Is that the same story with the Atoms? Do they also try grabbing as many Electrons as possible? Watch this video to get the answers!
    Valency is the number of atoms of a particular element that is combined with one atom of another element to form a molecule. Valency is also known as molecular weight. Valency is a measure of the combining power of an atom. The valency of an element is determined by the number of electrons in its outermost shell.

    • @akashpatwa2639
      @akashpatwa2639 Před rokem +1

      @@keepcoDing_789 see Copper will donate 1 electron and become stable as you that an atom must have minimum 8 electrons Inorder to complete it's octet state so even if there are more than 8 electrons in the outermost shell ( considering the capacity of the shell ) the atom will be stable. hope it helps

    According to the 2n² rule,the number of electrons each shell can accommodate increases as the shell no increases,then why is the video saying the maximum no of electrons that can be accommodated is 8,I just thought it was the stable configuration.

      Yes you are right but octet rule says the last or outermost shell of a stable and electrically neutral atom can have maximum of 8 electrons.However the capacity of last shell is more than 8 electrons.
      That why atom lose/gainelectrons to make them stable.

      @@suman5259 so your saying the an atom is stable when it has a total of 8 electrons in its outermost shell(according to the octet rule)
      Despite the capacity of its shell/energy level
