In this video, Jasper from Fungi Academy explores the idea of Panspermia, the hypothesis that life exists throughout the Universe, distributed by space dust, meteoroids, asteroids, comets, and planetoids, as well as by spacecraft carrying unintended contamination by microorganisms. The Lichen and Fungi Experiment on the International Space Station has discovered just how durable some life can be in space. These new findings have birthed the hypothesis that life may not have started on earth at all. Fungi are shown to survive the vacuum of space, potentially for eons! They have the tools at their disposal to basically terraform a planet into a lush, thriving environment that could one day evolve into an organism like our ancestors. The fungi then created a compound that would help that organism develop its brain, consciousness, and therefore its technologies. This evolution comes with a trait, looking at the sky to see what's out there, our innate curiosity making us who we are. Fungal entheogens amplify this and before you know it, this organism it birthed is shooting rockets into space, rockets filled and covered with fungal spores, ready to colonize the rest of the galaxy.

Theory is fun and mind expanding.
The foundation of reality is much different that the critically-minded can imagine--- but I am a big fan of imagination.
True reality is a frightening occurance for most. Information is deceptive--- because it most often supports a theory. Empirical evidence, on the other hand, has implications beyond the human mind's ability to comprehend reality.

Excellent video! All makes sense and I can attest that psychedelics have healing properties (when the user is ready). After years of addiction to alcohol, the first psychedelic trip I’ve had in years, during summer 2019 changed my experience greatly. Have lost 40lbs, my A1C is in a healthy range, have saved more money than my entire 15 years prior, am making music, went back to school for music, built a meditation practice, reconnected with my family, and feel peace regardless of this crazy world. It wasn’t “the psychedelics who ‘did it’” it was the combination of a ready human and a psychedelic experience reflecting on my current dissatisfaction with my life, and a commitment to change behavior. There are thousands, maybe millions of stories like the one I just told, so let’s return to the intelligence encoded in these compounds on a larger scale. It’s happening and I am grateful :)

Many moons ago (I'm a child of the 60s), after a good rain in South Texas or Louisiana, we'd gather Psilocybin mushrooms from cow turds in pastures all over the place out in the country. The best I found were in fields where a person raised and trained racehorses; think of the high-powered grain fed to those horses; excellent fertilizer for the mushrooms; they were not only huge but also powerful. We'd do a few that night if it was on the weekend, but they're easier to consume if dried, made into teas, or mixed with juices. Doing them fresh is difficult because of the slime and spores. I don't care how much Tang or whatever you put in the mixture; it will gag you.
The effect is mixed depending on strength and frame of mind, with the frame of mind being the most crucial aspect; it's a lot like real LSD in this way, don't do it in the wrong frame of mind, especially if you're having mental problems. This is what a "bad trip" is all about. You don't want to go there; been there, done that, please take my word. That being said, it is a beautiful experience, and it gives one a better understanding of life in general if you can let go of hangups and doubts. It lasts for hours so prepare to spend the time alone or with others where you cannot be disturbed; that can be a bummer. When you finally do fall asleep, you'll have beautiful dreams; at least I do.

It's amazing how you can understand large complicated systems after you have been introduced to mushrooms, it truly is nothing short of supernatural, but it's like remodeling your house with a sledgehammer and ending up with a flying boat when the construction is done. It's not a pretty process and you would think that people would tell you that it takes months before you get used to it and even out. In a perfect world I would say it's better to stay where you are but unfortunately it's not a bad idea to be awake. It's really a hard call. I don't think we need everyone to wake up, but we definitely need enough people awake to protect the ones that are asleep. Mostly just protect them from themselves and help them to realize that they need to find a road that will leave them with some way to live when that hard awakening comes.

Being able to hold the philosophical view that we will be forever denied specific knowledge about a period or events within that period is not a direct challenge to human intelligence or knowledge - we just don't know, it ain't personal, or species-limiting, we can never know and any guesses are best discussed with that always in mind. IDK is powerful.
BTW the most brilliant practical application of this understanding of Fungi is contained in the science that has developed behind *Regenerative Agriculture* which promises to: end the AGW debate, provide food security plus higher nutritional value foods, re-green deserts, end drought cycles and dirty fresh water problems, restore ecosystems and habitats, etc: and make Earth pretty again. @clarkey661 The relationship with us and yeast is an interesting one, and our relationship with certain species of ergot aswell (how lsd is made, and in the past how communities have accidentally baked psychedelic bread and baisically had whole grain stores infected with psychoactive fungus.
The thing with yeast is it is everywhere in nature, many flowers are coated in a natural yeast, for example if you take elderflowers and ferment them with water, that is how champagne is made, the flowers have the yeast naturally to begin fermentation, so it is a useful organism that is widely utilised in nature, and us using it is somewhat predicable, given the fact we store and produce food and are bound to ferment things by accident and discover the properties. I suppose what im trying to say is that yeast and humanity were bound to partner up, just based on our habits of storing food, let alone our proclivity for substance use. Our earliest ancestors would have been mostly fruitatarians, and eating fermented fruit was not uncommon, leading to an extraordinary tolerance to alchohol in our species, as it is much more deadly to other animals besides us, this in itself has set us up for a relationship with yeast and fermentation, and this is mainly due to fruit trees and not necessarily because any fungi was involved, but fruit eating apes and monkeys will eat mushrooms and insects alot more than youd imagine aswell.

Nice drawings. A major draw back of this theory is that fungi as not at the base of the phylogenetic tree. i.e. they are not closer to the last universal common ancestor (LUCA) than other organisms. Fungi and animals share a common ancestor which is descendant from a common eukaryotic ancestor. If pan-spermia is correct then the ejected microbe would most likely be a forerunner of bacteria and archaea. Cheers!

Why are the spores so perfectly designed to survive the vacuum of space? Also even though they are closer relation to animals than plants the spreading of spores using surrounding environmental factors to find a viable location for further growth and reproduction is definitely a stark similarity to trees and plants, at a minimum they are a big clue that we are on the right track to finding the original organism by looking into the origins of fungi.

Its a stretch to say it started life here, a monumental one, less so to say that the spores themselves may have come from somewhere else at one time. The earth was being terraformed by algea and plants, but fungi fit neatly in and facilitated everything, that much is demonstrated. Becoming symbiotic organisms with the algae to create lichen etc. now that is something we should be looking at. How often does one organism incorporate itself into another? They say the mitochondria of the cell had a similar thing happen to it. Id say that yes, fungi starting life on the llanet is sensationalist BS, but it certainly did help engineer the complexity we see in the world around us

Fungi exists in a certain section of the circle of life. This section requires other life (in any form, ie: micro) by absorbing dissolved molecules. Fungi don't have photosynthesis. They live off organic (living) molecules. They are more closely related to animals, than plants. Meaning, for fungi to sustain long enough to evolve, there would have to be life on the planet prior to its arrival to get its nutrients from. Forms of Fungi are likely to exist on any planet that has life, but it comes at a certain point due to its niche that makes it so successful (decomposing molecules which would otherwise be unused). What we know of Fungi today, it would always come after other forms of life have existed and died for decomposition to be needed, making it not possible to ever be the first. If life did come from Fungi spores and started life on Earth, it wouldn't of been Fungi, but whatever organism caught a ride within the fungi itself. These organisms could have transported numerous ways, making the suggestion that fungi spores useless. These organisms traveling on just the rock itself is more likely.

@Dilbergg theres fungi that feed of chemicals, radiation, and minerals aswell, there are old rocks with moulds on the simply digesting the rock, wouldnt be able to tell you what it was but it was certainly living off of non organic material. Assuming all fungi can only rely on organic material is a pretty silly assumption to make really, Especially when fungi has always teamed up with photosynthetic algae and such to, yes, live on all kinds of surfaces, organic and non organic...But, fungi dosent predate this algae, more importantly, and therein lies the answer...

Francis Crick was under no such influence when his TEAM, supported by Rosalind Franklin’s work, applied the rules they knew about nucleotide base pairings with the mathematical theories of X-ray diffraction, and a helical structure was the result. He was not given the structure of life in a vision on acid, and there is no supporting evidence to say he ever even did acid before discovering it in 1953, although he most certainly did following and later in life.

If one type of mushroom can survive in space for roughly 18 months does that mean we are roughly that far away from another life form?
