  • For those of you who want to install Project Treble GSI(Generic System Image) ROM on your Android device with unlocked bootloader, you can use TWRP recovery to install them.
UPDATE: For Android 10/11 GSI ROMs, this method may NO LONGER WORK FOR ALL. I have updated methods for Samsung devices here:

    And also Pixel devices here:

I did a fastboot -w and still cannot get off the android screen. is there something I'm missing that's specific to the Pixel XL google edition? Ive tried unsuccessfully to flash and 10 and 11. my firmware is up to date I'm doing the steps.

It seems like its nearly impossible to flash GSI with Xiaomi Mi9? If I follow all the rules most times I just get a loading screen bootloop. Or occasionally a soft brick that I need to fix with Miflashpro.
Ive tried several guides. Mi9 meets the criteria for GSI A only as its not seamless so even though it says AB: A works better.
Have you got a successful GSI flash on your Mi9?
Could you possibly do a guide for those of us struggling with it if you have?
    Thanks Bryce

I can answer this; and I’m sure most of you in this thread (which will be deleted shortly since it’s been slipped pasted the screening) have come to realise this already. Yes roms are cool and exists. But always carry crypto currency mines, as well as user data mines that are constantly used to sell to companies such as telemarketers, not ton mention they will be recording your voice to create a nice voice match to use in an emulator, and gain your fingerprints. Your cards in.Your wallet, along with anything attached to accounts with your name on it.Privacy credentials for anything currently signed in or that you do sign into are instantly reported out- regardless of WiFi or data connection ( Qualcomm radio is a hell of a thing, along with the other aspects of Qualcomm). Bluetooth can be access weather it’s on or not and other devices that are yours will be rooted and left looking as similar as the original as possible. You keep your data when that happens. They have complete remote access, and that includes to the shell, so if you try to resolve anything they will begin to remove more and more abilities you have. Available to you, such as deleting app data, or disabling apps. To check this, click on an app and look at the software version- does it have an extremely long funky number me sometimes an extra underscore and letter lol... sorry but you’re screwed. So tag reading gets all your card info. Doesn’t matter what you disable in terms of bluetooth or tags and whatnot because that’s just a surface interface to make you feel better. They have authorisation rights to your phone. Your google account? Welp all the passwords you ever used are stored in there and in iCloud and they have Those too. Read your error logs in your phone because they don’t lie, but they can be disabled so hurry up. When you do, run as many apps that didn’t come with the phone as possible and that you downloaded before you rooted. Same on other devices. Evernote is usually their broadcast receiver. Which reminds me. Go into about phone and click on software version 5 times fast to unlock developer mode (sometimes its kernel version) then click on shut off always keep data on (that’s abused) and finally click on currency running apps. Try clicking on some of these and look at their real name once the details pop up. These are clone apps with malicious intent. What’s worse is you can never get rid of this. They are using developer tools and these are whitelisted apps so antivirus programs slip over it. Your play services and play store are also clones so just about everything new you get will automatically have a new string of code to abide by . Cheers. Welcome to the farm.

I think you mentioned that Nexus devices should be compatible. I have an old Nexus 5X, I downloaded the Treble checker & it says not compatible. Did you make a mistake or should I be able to download AB like any Pixel. +MaxLee

Well it isn't Treble compatible by default, because it's kinda old, y'know. "If" some dev find a way to make it compatible, you still need to do some kind of procedure. Check on xda, mate.

I heard that on the 5T when u flash the gsi it makes the phone lag and it has some bugs but u can just flash some different patches to fix that. Unless the way u did it is new or something bc on the 5t people use mokee ROM and some other patches to fix the phone and make it better?

I just flashed the ROM, haven't tried the GSI version yet. No lags on the ROM tho.

I just did this, and it works the first time. I got into the phone and set it up. But it was super laggy after a while. So I decided to reset the phone like how you would normally do to fix a problem, and now... it’s making me boot into the recovery each and every time I try and boot into the system...

Can you do a video specifically for OnePlus 6 user's on this topic with root? I have went to your site and read the directions BUT I don't feel confident enough to try unless you put out a step by step video.

I have BLU G9 with unlocked bootloader, but can't find a TWRP build. This video says any project treble device, but does your device need TWRP? Is there a generic way to get TWRP on any treble device?
