It's right up my alley, man! I love (and prefer) European metal, in general (different style, but my favorite is Nightwish and love bands like Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Evergrey, Sonata Arctica, and several others!) But I've always loved Norum's style!

I agree with your take of GNR and Alice Cooper being hair metal. I’d also add Ozzy, KISS and Aerosmith as they put out hits that fit right in the flavor of the day. I’d also include Queenshryche and Maiden as they were bunched in there as well thanks in part to the rotation on Headbanger’s Ball

Keep up with all 80s techniques and tones. Thrash and other metal is great, but 80s metal, esp Dokken makes me want to pick up my guitar and play, albeit the neonate to guitar that l am. Let it rip Gunner!

No More Tears is one of my all-time favorite albums (I didn't wanna lump him into the 'hair band' category here, though). And dude, so glad you said melodies!! That's what most have been wanting!! I just put out a video on melodies today (literally like 10 minutes ago!)
I never liked the term hair metal. In Britain it was mainly just called heavy metal. Bands like Poison which looked more like women were considered hair metal, but bands like Iron Maiden, Dokken and Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth just had long hair and they were great at what they did.They should not all be lumped together into one thing, because they were very different. The term annoys me because it is used by people who are not into metal as a way denigrating the talented musicians that played metal.
Yeah some bands got lumped into being labeled hair metal that really had nothing to do with that genre. Dokken would not jag even labeled hair metal but they went overboard with the makeup and all
Hair metal were the pop "metal" bands shown on MTV all the time. Those bands focused more on looks and hair spray, and the music itself was mostly just pop rock with loud drums and not actually metal. Poison for example.
@@adriantrusca1245 Actually Poison was metal. The definition of metal is a guitar orientated band with loud bass and drums, so that means they were metal. Just because they wore make up doesn't make playing the guitar easier though. I was just saying that not all bands wore that, Iron Maiden never did. You can't say a band isn't metal because it isn't heavy enough either. I mean Black Sabbath have some very slow songs, which you may also not consider metal, but it actually is.
