Thumbs up as always, thanks! 🌞
I went there in 92 & 94. This version of Dreamland is long gone, but its exactly how Dreamland is in my mind :D
Loved this place in the 80s and 90s. Used to get so excited on the train journey there because you could see The Looping Star and the Big Wheel as you pulled into Margate Station. We used to stay at the Butlins hotels in Cliftonville every summer..........amazing memories x
Oh the caterpillar ride . Such sweet memories of going as a child with my family .
I was Margate 89 and 90. Remember BIG wheel, Loop and ship that go upside down.😊
Such brilliant days of my unforgettable, wonderful, and trouble free childhood, when the worst thing you had to worry about were a few cross words with other kids. Now days you look at someone and they stick a knife in you. Why has it gone so sour? Really sad.
i went there more times than i could remember, riding the woody, mary rose, always going to the wimpy 1/4 cheeseburger meal with loads of burger sauce, way back in the 80s, and sadly watched its decline until it shut, where has the years gone.
The best rides gone but not forgotten
This was the best Time at Dreamland Margate with all the Huss and Schwarzkopf Rides!
Heat wave was originally the Apollo and had gondolas that circled around as they wen round the moon.
And it shows by how boring that ride was after conversion!
Went there in the mid eighties and loved it... will always be as it was then in my memories.. never forget the roar of the rattling metalwork on the looping star and the clunking of the loop at the top and bottom .😊
The noise of the Shooting star as it went into & out of the loop is a sound I'll never forget. I spent so much time on that ride as a kid!
Thank you 😊
It was called the looping star
No idea why this just popped up on my suggesteds, but gosh this prought back a lot of memories. A whole bunch of us when up there around this time so this is exactly how I remember it. Just a shame the usual suspect sold it off as soon as he could, but couldn;t pave over the whole thing and sell it off to developers. That pesky Scenic Railway getting in the way again.
You may possibly know, but two of the most iconic rides are still in operation. Mary Rose is now called the Black Pearl & is at Lightwater Valley, and the absolutely iconic Looping Star has got a new home and a new name. It's now called Gwazi, and is still happily taking passengers at Lion Safari park in Botswana.
Awesome thanks for your comment I appreciate it 👊♥️
there was a boat ride called stowaway that seems to have been completely forgotten by everyone on the internet, do you know anything about that? asking because apparently it was haunted in some way and i'm looking for footage or photos of it :)
It was like a Tunnel of Love River Caves Water ride I do remember it, went on it a few times too. It was just situated on the right hand side of the entrance into Dreamland. Jimmy Godden was the owner back then when he purchased Dreamland from the Bembom Brothers and renamed the park to Dreamland Fun Park.
I went here in '93, and the Ben Hur was one of the few rides I went on. The horses were made to gallop in an unusual way, with their front ends lifting up, although on some European carousels the galloping mechanism is underneath the horses, rather than the horses hanging from poles. I wondered when I first saw this ride if the horses were adapted kiddie rides due to their bases. There used to be skid rides called Ben Hurs, as they had chariots. When I was there, I also noticed that most of the electric motors on the rides sounded similar. Melody Swings is an unusual name for a paratrooper ride.
Good old days.
Most of these rides ended up in Scotland when the last owner shut the park he opened a theme park up there
Top memories
Good times
I’m sure someone who used to go to dreamland before shutting in 2005, will remember this ride, it was called sombrero, I have a very small memory of riding this with my mother as a wee child (must’ve been between 4-6 years old) and for some reason, it’s bugging me that I’m not able to find much info about the ride being at dreamland, only a website that tells you about past rides there🤔 I know Drayton manor had a sombrero ride as well but not entirely sure if it was the same one or it was another ride.
Isn't that first one the Troika?
HUSS machine There is also a HUSS Tristar there as well
Atleast at Finland it’s called Troika.
wasn't there a water ride at this park? i remember something, but i was quite young at the time. i remember splashing down sevearl times and a lift hill at one point. i rmember the mary rose too, though was too small to ride it at the time.
There was the Water Chute Ride, I remember it well and used to always have loads of rides on it :))
@@Ricksta66 was that the ride that, and forgive me for any memory lapses, tthere was a big hill you went up, then you turned 180 and ran down the hill into the splashdown. you were in boats holding about twenty people? the ride ended with everyone getting out of the boats near the start of the ride, and the boats continued to the loading dock? There was another boat ride, similar to a rapids ride i think it was, but it was indoors? was that margate?
I want to try this 7:51
Tri-Star that ride was good fun, used to always have a loads of goes on it, back in day :)) 1993
@@Ricksta66 most huss tristars have been scrapped and retired now. Only one huss enterprise remaining in uk that is operational and thats zodiac at thorpe park after Enterprise at Alton towers was retired and scrapped
Thanks for your reply and info much appreciated 👍 ❤️
Just started the video so it might be on here but I doubt it, does anyone remember the pirate ride under the cinema on hall by the sea road
Yeah I think I know what your talking about. Dreamland was taken over by Jimmy Godden when that water tunnel of love ride/CASTERWAY Pirate theme ride. I don't think it was there for long. I remember it being fun :)) Ps Not seen any videos of it, wished I'd thought about filming back then or even a taken photo.
@@Ricksta66 at least I finally know I didn't imagine it!
