Thanks. Would've been nice to have a framing shot to show where it is on the vehicle.
On the frame under the driver's seat. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros: Thanks!
It's easy to find man come on
Is there a way to test it ? I can actuate the module not sure if it’s working I hear it come on

Plain and simple I love videos like this straight to it 👍
Easy, peasy! Love these straight-forward how-to-do-it vids. THANKS! Semper Fidelis! CWO4 USMCR [Ret] 17 Feb 1969 - 1 August 2004
Right on!
This video was awesome it was short and it got to the point and it worked for me thanks again
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I like the drum music, in the background.
Good video but i would like too know what type of srew head im dealing with to start the removal with the correct tool
The light bulb in your dash is most likely burnt out. To explore this problem further please visit 2carpros.com
How do you troubleshoot ABS C0268? How do I know to change the EBCM or ABS pump?
Thanks very useful information made it easy to replace the pump.
Glad we could help! Please subscribe.
@@2carpros do i need to programmed the new one thanks
How did you deal with the clearance issue between the bottom of the truck and the 4 mounting nuts for the ABS module
does this affect alternator voltage
how come you do not show how you unscrew it on al 4 screws and remove?
Weird question if I can activate the pump with a scan tool does that mean the module is still good
My Car wont start because security mode by replacing this part would that fix my problem i also lost the key lock/unlock adapter that goes to the factory alram for my 2002 yukon denali i only have the ignition key
As soon as the rain clears up and I buy some flare nut crows foot attachments for a 3/8 ratchet , I'm going to change mine out , but there seems to be a clearance issue . The pump and control module on my 2000 silverado is so close to the bottom of the truck that I'm going to have to remove the whole unit " intact " and then remove and replace the control module . Bleeding the system should be a blast lol after I get the pump bolted back to the frame and get the lines reconnected . You need to start at the farthest wheel from the master cylinder 1st and so forth and so on . Mine would be the passenger side rear , then the drivers side rear , passenger side front and then the drivers side front . Next I would clear the code with my Harborfreight scanner and then take it for about a 15 to 20 minute drive to see if my rotors still get hot enough to cook an egg on or not . If not and no more code shows up , then it didn't need to be reprogrammed . If it does still get hot , then I'll have to take it in for reprogramming and I'll let this 2CarPros guy know that he is wrong and will need to explain to several people on here that he was wrong . I'm hoping he is the one that is right though . A dealership in Bristol , Tn was only going to charge me $ 180.00 to change out the control module for me and reprogram it . I was supplying the control module since theirs was around $ 500.00 dollars lol . I still had to pay over $ 200.00 online ( Dorman part ) through rockauto.com I think .
What would cause the module to rattle?
what does it means if no abs light ever comes on when you put the ignition key on?
How can you tell if the motor or pump is bad?and not the module?
Where is this module located in a 05 suburban?
2005 Envoy
Pump not running, just abs/brake light comes on and chimes about 30 times. Not ebcm?
99' Chevy Silverado 2500 LS Crew Cab 4x4 Long Bed Pickup / Chevy, I'm Having Same Problem With Abs Light On & Brake Light On, I'm Told That Its Most Likely The Abs Module That's Located Under Drivers Side Frame Rail With 4 T20 Torx Screws Holding It On To The Pump, The Lights Are Off Sometimes & Then All Of A Sudden They Both Come On Out Of No Where, Mine Has 3 Harness Plugs On It & Was Told I Have To Get The Exact Same Part, I Have A Small Harness & 2 Other Harnesses That Plug In. The Real Small Wire Harness Is On The Back Of The Module To The Left & Other 2 On Right Back Side If Underneath The Truck Looking Toward The Front Of The Truck, I Had A Scanner On It & Nothing Showed Up When My Mechanic Put His Obd2 Scanner On It, & I Found The Part Used For $150 & Would Have To Be Shipped From Pa To Me In South Jersey, Would This Module Malfunctioning Cause The Abs Light & Brake Light To Come On & Off Out Of Nowhere, I Was Also Told & Did Some Research That There Is A Recall On This Particular Abs Modular Part From 99',Thru 2002' & There Is A Recall Number But Called Gm & They Claim To Have No Recall On This Abs Module Computer Unit On The 99' Chevy Silverado 2500 LS 4x4 Crew Cab With Long Bed, Anyone Can Help Me Out To Get This Corrected, I Would Gladly Appreciate Some Input On What To Do From Here. Will removing the ABS system and not don't replacing it (pipe your brake lines around it ), solve the sponge brake feeling ??? Posted 7-24-18
Excelente video gracias por tu trabajo
Where can I get this part? I"ve been looking for a reman one but can't find any.
Is this the same for a 2006 suburban ltz Chevy.?
great video! one of the screw strip so what can I do was the last one
Same here
Just take the entire bracket off , they are 3 , 15 millimeter bolts
Just spent 5 hours taking this SOB off because the two torx up against the frame rail were stripped. Nothing like working on blind screws that you can't even properly reach. Managed to weld one to a nut and get it out, just had to grind the other ones head off. PITA.
Yeah I really hate torx with a passion too! Nice work getting it off though! Thank you for watching!
You can get some new screws that are stainless with allen wrench heads. This # is for 2000 GMC Sierra...DORMAN 926388 Rock Auto has them about $5.00. Good luck my friend.
This video is obviously not for rust belt mechanics. Those screws don't come out and if they do, the internals are just as rusted. Got one right here on my tool box.
Are all the mods the same I have a 2002 Sierra 2500hd reg long box if o get one off a 2005 will it be the same
Hello my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z 71 has no clearings to remove first two screws
So? 😂
Nice video. I wish you had a video on the discontinued 10 prong original ABS Module. So extremely hard to locate them.
try finding a gas tank for the 2002 suburban with the 8.1
Ones reinstalled does it have to be program again or something ?
@@josemontesdeoca7449 No, that is why you send a company your module and they send you a proper replacement. Make sure to take pics of every side of the part you send out.
I have a 2001 GMC Sierra, and I am unable to remove the Torx screws because the ratchet and the torx end between the t20 screws and the underside of the truck. Do I have to take off both the pump and the computer part out of the bracket that attaches it to the frame? Thanks!
Use a smaller, 1/4" drive ratchet instead.
Do you have to programed the new one thanks
Do you need to program the new EBCM before installation?
+Kevin Bolkovatz No you do not. It is a plug in and play system.
Would this cause a humming sound almost like a bearing was worn i took it to my mechanic thinking it might be the front differential but he says its this whole assembly
That does not sound like a ABS Computer issue no. Thank you so much for watching!
The abs and brake light just came on my dash as I was leaving . I went back to my home turned of my 03 Yukon and the lights went off I drove it around for 30 min and lights didn't appear no more. I'm going to look into it asap but for now can I still drive it or what's the recommendation?
It is still ok to drive. But just be careful as the ABS may not be functional anymore. Thanks for watching!
Penetrating oil on rusty screws first or risk stripping them out.
How hard or easy is it to change the wheel speed abs sensory? The shop we took it to told me to not tackle it because it is hard. I personally think they just want the money. Thoughts?
It's easy they want your money
Hi, I have an 02 Suburban 4x and it looks a bit tighter to get on top compared to yours. Small stubby 1/4 ratchet & short torx bit. Will try it. What brand reman do you use???
I can't get those torx bolts out to save my life. Did you have any luck?
@@razorsharpbt124 Did not try yet. :)
@@1947froggy Yeah, looks like I'm going to have to remove the entire ABS unit just to get those screws out. They're just rusted out too bad and there's no room to work. Not looking forward to it. I did all new brake lines last year - talk about nightmare. Good luck when you attempt it!
Soak it 2/3 times with rust buster, try again, maybe heat from a hot air gun? If you can avoid opening the brake fluid lines that would be good. PITA to bleed abs modules. Ask me how I know. :) I often use Rock Auto, there are good reman's but I don't have a name.
@@1947froggy Unfortunately, the screws are stripped and they were just basically rusty nubs to begin with. I'll have to pull the whole unit off. Oh, I know all about bleeding it lol. It's a pain. Thanks.
great video my pump has been running for a awhile now should i replace both its a 2002 escalade with 160k, ml on it and does stop the stabiltrack from working
Hey, did you replace it yet
what does it mean if when the abs light turns on my truck the a/c stops working it won’t blow cold nor hot
Thanks a lot. The only thing I wish this video did is show where the module is located in the Yukon.
Under the driver's side on top of the frame. Thanks for watching!
2CarPros is it in the same place on a 06 Silverado?
Underneath the truck on the driver's side above the frame.
Does this unit address the front disc brakes sticking, I put new calipers, rotors, flushed the fluids, getting ready to put hydraulic hoses down from the hardlines to the caliper. I hope this will fix it but if it doesn't would this be the next choice, to replace the ABS unit
Hey got question if replacing this is it required to change out the brake fluid as well or jus the module thats it cause my 2002 yukon ABS light been on for while and i haven't got around to and i finally did and I found out that it would just unplug and I plugged it in and it killed my battery so I found out that much it was bad so I'm getting a new one but I was told I needed to change the fluids out as well if i was going change the module is that true or not
It is not necessary but depending how old your brake fluid is you might want to think about doing it anyways. Thanks for watching!
My abs light is on and I plan on replacing this module. Does it have to be programmed?
Nope. It should be plug and play. Thanks for watching!
how do i know if its the control module or the pump?
Did you ever figure out what the answer was
Hey guys recently my new 99 chevy Silverado started making this noise underneath the driver side like a blender running dry I was told that is the abs module and I disconnect the electrical plug so it won't drain my battery however I have not scanned it I do see the abs yellow light on my dashboard and the red parking light on I really hope this is enough info please I would really appreciate you taking the time to respond with some helpful info thanks
Olegario Ramirez did you ever solve the problem?? I have the same issue on my 2002 Yukon
what size torx is that and can you drive the truck while the module is off?
T20
Changing the whole thing any problem?
Anyone know if i have to get it programmed if i get aftermarket?
Does the abs module require programming it to the vehicle
Nope. Just buy the correct module for your vehicle. Thanks for watching!
Does the new module need programmed to the vehicle I'm getting ready to do this to my 2010 silverado
We didn't for this older model. But you may need to flash the computer for that newer model. Thanks for watching!
If anybody know were i can rebuild my 2000 gmc yukon module website. Please
On a 06 Chevy trailblazer EXT 4wd. Abs module is were and how do I find out what THE ID # IS WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING TAKING APART. ? WERE IS THE LOCATION AT OF THE MODULE AND THE #. PLS HELP ME TODAY SO I CAN GET TO WORK PLS.
What size torx?
What size is the tool needed? is it a star torx 20? what is the best tool to use? A flat wrench - I cant get a socket on it! I am a big dude and cant make the ratchet thing happen, I am asking for some help / advice please.
Yeah I believe it is a T20 or T15. Just use a wrench and grab the hex part of the Torx socket there is a little shank I believe it's 1/4 inch that you can turn it with. Thanks for watching!
Can you drive the vehicle without the EBCM if you send it out for repairs?
I believe so but it is dangerous to do and will get a ton of lights on the dash. Thanks for watching!
3 of the screws came out really easy. But the rear driver side is rounded out. It may have been me, or the screw was messed up, not sure. Considering where this is located, any recommendations on how to get the last screw out?
Were u able to remove it ? How so?
Nut on it
Do the ABS control module have to be programmed after installed even if the whole solenoid mount have to be removed to replace the module.
Ours was plug and play here. Thanks for watching!
Did you need to have new module reprogrammed by dealer?
Nope. Thanks for watching!
who is the bass player? But seriously, what you using in the torx?
dont you have to bleed the breaks after you change abs mod??
Not in this case because we didn't open the system. Thanks for watching!
Excellent Video, is the module the same for a 2002 Yukon XL 4x4?
Yes it is! Thanks for watching!
How would you take it off if the screws are stripped
Just spent 5 hours taking this SOB off because the two torx up against the frame rail were stripped. I managed to weld one a spare nut to the stripped head of one and get it out, but had to grind the other ones head off. PITA.
The fastest and easiest way? My advice would be just break the module whatever way you can, because it's plastic, then the studs will be exposed for you to twist them out with vice grips.
Do you have to bleed the abs to get rid of air after doing this?
No. If you don't open the fluid system you don't need to bleed it. Thanks for watching!
How do I know if mine is with or without Traction Control? My ABS and Brake light are on but the traction control light is not.
Check your codes in the Glove Box, I believe RPO code for TC is -- NW7. There is also a Luxury Package code of -- Y91 you need to know if you have it or not. I have neither code and there are three different versions depending on the above two codes so I had to order version for No TC & No LP.
I had the same question for my 2002 Avalanche. I finally looked in Owners Manual. It will show you what the control switch looks like then you will know if it's on your dashboard.
Boss, can you direct me to information that explains the brake lines that go into the module? I want to replace my brake lines.
That is too complicated of a question to answer on CZcams. If you like you can head over to our website www.2CarPros.com and ask a question for absolutely free. One of our automotive experts will be along shortly to help you. On our site we can supply pictures and diagrams that I can't here on CZcams.
I have codes :
C0265
C0281
C0245
C0241
C0251
C0252
C0246
C0242
Will replacing EBCM fix all these issues??
If you have the code for the module i would replace that first then clear the codes and go from there.
how much dose the part cost for 2001 yukon xl?
+Eric Silva go to Amazon, they have it for about 300 bucks
Unless you live in the Rust belt strip out screws
What screws? You means those little rusty stumps?
should the abs light go off right away after fix?
You would have to clear the ABS code with a ABS code scanner. If this computer was the reason for the code then yes it would turn off. Thanks for watching!
how do you remove the plug on vehicles that have active brake control? Their module have one plug connected to them not 2 like this video does.
on my 2000 yukon, the space above is narrow, I need to buy a tiny short ratchet or take the whole thing appart any ideas?
Nothing wrong with getting more tools ;) Thank you for watching!
Buy a torx Allen wrench
what if the screw head is corroded and stripped and the torx allen does not hold? Any suggestions on how to remove the screws when the space betwen the floor of the cab and the module is only about 4 inches at most?
Fel Riv is they are stripped, you typically have to remove the entire ABS pump and module assembly. That means disconnecting the brake lines from it. If that has to be done, the abs pump will need to be bled by either the dealer with a Tech 2 or a shop that has a scan tool with the ability to cycle the abs pump to bleed it. If you do this at home, you will have air in the brake system until it is bled. Just let a shop deal with it.
fredlesson I have the same problem that’s why I put it off to a later date.
Thanks!! Definitely doable...
Thanks for watching!
No it is not when 2 bolt heads are already stripped
Is it a similar process on a 2008 GMC sierra and will I have to have the dealership program it after I install it?
It should be very similar. No I don't believe it needs to be reprogrammed. Just unplug the battery before install. Thanks for watching!

If my abs and brake light are coming on in the dash and it's showing code co265 will this fix the issue or is there something else causing it, the brake pedal is pulsing as well when I hit the brakes.
cant believe some places want over a$1000 to fix it , but how do no if its pump or module, and how do u take off pump ?

This would be very similar. GM usually doesn't change too much gen to gen. Thanks for watching!
I was told the motor is on when I'm driving it can I disconnect this without triggering any dash lights
I would not try that.
Just pull the and fuse done
mines showing code co268 and blowing the abs fuse
Dealership tells me I have to let them put the module on because they have to be programmed. Is that correct
We didn't program this one. It was plug and play. Not sure about the newer models though. Thanks for watching!

The code definitely points to it. Thanks for watching!
How do you remove stripped torx screws? Since I have a core charge for the replacement part I'd prefer not to destroy the old module. I can't seem to get any type of easy out up in there to get the back screws out.
Mark, I have the same problem... two screws easy out but the other two are so corroded that the torx 20 does not hold. Were you able to get yours out?
Fel Riv:
No, not yet. I bought a tool kit with a smaller wrench. I'll use it with an easy out. I haven't yet tried. If all else fails I'll have to cut the heads off. I don't want to do it until I have replacement bolts. I'll update when I figure it out.
Mark, I am thinking the same... cut off the heads, but, what tool would fit in there where you have the chassis and the floor and the two screws that I have to cut are the ones on the opposite side out of reach.
First one I tried stripped very easy. Haven't done anything since. Any input?
My abs and brake light been on and off for over a year. The abs light is on more tho. Yesterday I from my truck to go buy the abs computer module and no abs light. I just replaced it and the the abs light is on. Do you think the new abs computer module is defectives one or something else ?
Abs wheel sensor
If you replaced the abs module with another, then the module needs to be reprogrammed to the vehicle again. I've been told it can only be done at a dealership or if you have a tech2 scanner
Eric G is that what I need to change?
Jumpr 21 man I wish he would mention that in the video.! Is it pretty easy to re program it ?

MY VW POLO 9N when I pump brakes hard boom come the EPC LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT on the screen at the car come on limpo mode what is the problem?
I had this exact same issue before. It is with out a doubt the air filter fluffenator housing for sure. The mileage may vary for vw but with my 2001 yukon xl slt single wheel drive convertible model iremoved my air filter and the tube going to it & only had to run about 350 to 400 miles without it & it fixed it pretty much on its own. I didnt even have to take the valve cover off 😁. Good luck

They replaced mine on my 2002 avalanche because my ABS and my brake light both came on of course I needed the pads and rotors replaced.. problem solved on the ABS light but now the ‘traction off’ is on.. They try to cover up saying it was the switch which it’s not I believe they just put the wrong freaking module on that also controls the traction assist I wish there were someway just a disabled the damn light
What song is playing?
when replacing the unit, it needs to be reprogrammed right?? i mean thats what some dude is doing to my pops tahoe, see its taking more time than i thought it should and he said he was having problems reprogramming it. idk
I read that on a forum and I'm trying to figure out the same thing. Did you ever get clarification? Is it something the dealer has to do or could any brake shop do it...or me with a laptop?
No programming necessary, it is a plug and play install.
