Dave a saint.
May I ask how much your build cost?
Great question! It was $7,000 including labor and materials.
Great idea and it probably serves to make it easier to make the bed as well
Definitely!
What kind of van
Hi 👋 It is a Ford Transit Cargo Van with a medium roof.
Love it!
Thanks!!
Crap! Do u have anything between your curtains and the window? Reflectix?
I use premade insulated magnetic covers on all the windows. Works great!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you! 😊
I don’t get the bathroom in the night part???
We each get up to pee once or twice a night. Now that there is room on each side of the bed, he can get out without climbing over me and vice versa.
I really like this! My van is a new transit passenger. So I would love doing the same design but only bottom section. Great information. 👍
Go for it!
Looks good but you have no storage space or cabinets.
Actually, we have a ton of storage. I’ll show it off more in a future video.
@@BlueWonderLady awesome
Impressive efficiency and its beautiful too.
Thank you very much!
I’m a little confused. She said they don’t have to climb over each other to go to the bathroom because she pulled the bed out so toilet is by the back door BUT unless you have another toilet on the other side then that person will have to climb over to get to the toilet. Did I miss something??
Hi. Great question. We don’t need to use the toilet at night because we use pee jars. Very easy.
I have a 23 ft RV.. I watch these videos to get ideas but the more I watch the more I like the storage room in my little rig..might be a bit more on gas but more comfy than a tight van. But everyone is different. But that is a great built van for a single traveler.
Best I've ever seen! Ty
Wow! You made my day. Thanks for watching!
Wow, what beautiful craftsmanship Dave did to fulfill all your new needs and requirements. I am sure he exceeded your expectations with the clever ways he used to secure, fold, swing in and out, slide and so on. Thank you for sharing your New stand up home on wheels. 👏🏼👍😁
Absolutely
Love this kitchen!
Thank you!! 😊
Beautiful!
Thank you!
How do we contact Dave?
Hi Linda, The build is by Dave Vittum in New Hampshire. Facebook message Amy Rideout Vittum. Thanks for watching!
Well executed and thoughtful.
6' bed is insufficient for a 6' person to lay extended as your feet don't rest at a 90° angle. It stretches your calf muscle which should be relaxed/retracted. It's uncomfortable and cramping.
Yes, true. Fortunately my husband sleeps mostly in his side, with bended knees. It’s a good point you bring up though and others should definitely consider that. Thanks for watching!
I love it when designs are made for every detail of one's life and then made beautifully. It's incredible. I'm going for a tiny part time van to accommodate my physical issues and my dog, just being able to pull over somewhere beautiful and have all my needs filled for lie down rest, a simple meal, a beverage etc. But if I were going to live in a van your design has work surfaces! And they fold away, two of them. One outside even! Having a quality adjustable seat with a movable work surface ...... Ooooooo! I would want a sink with a foot pump for washing my hands and produce. No lifting, bending. If books need to be stored near the floor I would use drawers that could be opened with a stick, where I could look down from a standing position and see what's there. Some of us can't access floor level where you have to reach/ peer inside. Crouch and bend, bend and reach....not. Maybe you shouldn't expect that of your back. Everything else is so perfect! I love the kitchen!! I want one!
Thank you so much for your comments! I am glad you found some inspiration. 😀❤️
Perfect, what I need.
Love this!
Do you mind sharing information on the builder? I’m in need!
Sure! His name is Dave Vittum. He is in New Hampshire. Facebook is Amy Rideout Vittum.
Love this video, iishana! I really really like that oh, so clever bed! We have a natural latex mattress at home and had another in our 5th wheel. Natural latex is amazing! I have a felted wool mattress in my minivan camper. The way your bed lifts for accessing the storage, slides to accommodate you both at night and the way it turns so easily into a couch is simply magic! I love the contemplative feel you shared with us in this video. Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you along my journey again someday. 😃❤️
Thanks, Pioneer Grandma! I am so glad you enjoyed the tour and the bed design. Felted wool mattress sounds soooooo cozy. Would love to see that in a tour sometime!
Dave Vittum is one talentedperson
Yes, he sure is!! Thanks for watching ❤️

Great ideas. Great job. Love the wool especially
Thanks so much! 😊
Beautiful build
Thank you!
Beautifully put together. Very good carpentry and joinery. 😊
Glad you liked it!
Hi Everyone! I’d LOVE to hear what your favorite design element is in this van build. Let me know here ❤ Thanks and Enjoy Your Journey!
Your new van is beautiful!
Thank you!
The van build came out so nice!! Love the idea with the bed and the space to get up for 2 people. The outdoor cooking area is great and nice it can be moved indoors during extreme weather. Was so glad to see all the videos of the van being built and the finished project. Should be amazing to travel in. ❤
Iam so glad you like the van build! Thanks for watching and for saying hi. It means a lot!
I was wondering though she said the bed pulled out so they don’t have to climb over each other to use the bathroom but unless they have a toilet on each side or they get out and walk around to the back then you do have to climb over each other. I mean it’s not a big deal but I’m wondering if I missed something she said.
I have no plans on ever living in my vehicle...BUT after watching your video, I am now open to it, if I ever needed to go that route. I would definitely need Dave though to build my van out too, lol. Hope you don't mind if I "steal" your design. It's just my speed. It's fantastic and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
You can do it!
I’m 51 and started doing research at the beginning of Covid. I bought a 5th wheel and stayed full time at a RV park for 2 years and loved it. Unfortunately my mom became very sick and I sold it to care for her. Once she is on her feet I’m looking to buy a used C Class RV or a small RV to tow call a Scamp RV which is small but has all you need and can tow with a small SUV. It’s never too late. Plus I’m disabled so the money Inlive on isn’t a lot so this way of living is very doable. I paid $600 a month at the RV park which included water, sewer, trash and WI-FI. Electric was separate but usually ran around $60 in winter and $100 in summer with using 2 AC units all the time. You can’t beat that. Not to mention many have laundry facilities and showers if you don’t have a shower in your camper. You meet wonderful people that are friends for life and everyone helps you with anything you need. We all look out for one another. One man had cancer and his wife was caring for him but they were elderly. A bunch of us including me because I’m a Nurse volunteered to go take shifts to help her. We help each other move when necessary and if you just need help with a repair there is always someone to help and they never charge. We just bake something or make that person dinner. I can’t wait to get another RV and be on the RD again. Don’t wait. Give it a try. You can rent a van or RV to see if you like it too.
You exude joy and contentment. I am so happy for you. 😃
Yes! Thank you!
Beautiful woodwork! Everything looks wonderful!!
Thank you!
