Xu Xin is the forever champion for penhold lovers. The best entertainer and the best ambassador ever.
Not comparable with Xu Xin yet !
He is a different type of penhold, his backhand action seems to be quicker and at a more acute angle than Wang Hao. His consistency on the backhand has proven decisive in most matches.
Dang Qiu in contrast to Ma Lin, Wang Hao, Xu Xin does not have a weakness on the backhand. Dang Qiu grew up with the attacking backhand and it looks very natural when he is playing it. Wang Hao, Ma Lin tend to block with fh side when attacked to their backhand. Dang Can block with backhand side and can counter loop on this side very naturally, like shakehanders. His stance is also much more similar to shakehanders because of this. His performance throughout the EM was astonishing. I have never heard anything about Dang Qiu before, it was really impressive.
His style is closer to Wang Hao than to Xu Xin. Backhand dominant close to table play suits the new ball very well.
Precise attacking game. Good short play feeling, sharp forehand, deadly counter attacks and surprisingly strong penholder backhand. Dang Qui is a promising Player for Top Level Tabletennis.
Why does he change to the shake hand grip every time a point is over?
He's an amazing penholder player, but a horrible service cheater.

I think I’ve read an article about him once where he said that his dad coached him in his youth and he taught him a shakehand grip. Only much later did he switch to a penhold grip, which seems to be rather unusual.
What is Dang Qiu equipment set up during this game?
