Thanks, this is the only video that explained why I needed a donor board because theres no way to directly connect to WD
Hi, were did you purchase the data board? Could you please post a link?
Did you ever make the video showing you replace the BIOS chip? Thanks SO MUCH for this video, I'm trying the impossible to fix some of my own hard drives & this video of yours gives me hope (at this point...hope is priceless, hah!)
Excellent info.
Nice video. You are very knowledgeable! God bless :)
Thanks for the explanation! Will it be continued in the next video?
I'm wondering if it's possible to convert a 4Tb My Passport drive with 800041 board into SATA (no data recovery is required). What time of the replacement board did you buy for 800041?
Doug DeMouro of computers!
Will the drive work by swapping the PCB if you just want to upgrade an already empty drive from mini USB to SATA or type c ?
if we can get a donor from the exact same models and same capacity/size, can it work normally ?
Could I do this to simply convert a functioning WD My Passport to SATA? Without needing a decrypted PCB? I can swap BIOS chips around no problem, but if still doesn't let me access the existing data I wouldn't care as there is nothing of importance on there, I just want more internal drives
any speed increase or is it roughly the same?
If I have exact identical one, can I swap the board ?
After 10 minutes I learned the simple solution is don't get a western digital hard drive.
I was kind of hoping this would be a video showing you how to de-solder a usb attachment, and how to solder a sata connector and which wires go where. Or would the physical encryption prevent you from using the sata connector because it's a different form of hardware?
I really hate Western Digital.
So where can we buy the sata board?
I wonder where I can find that kind of board
On the 5 TB I see a connector next to the USB. Is it anything that is somehow usable? I just can't help but think it is SATA even though I know it is not. If it was it doesn't have a connector that I recognize.
Can you please tell me from where i can buy this pcb board or sata
So where to get a sata board? I tried everywhere.
isnt the 6 pin just a funny version of a sata data connector missing a ground
How can I get ahold of you to see if you have a board that will be close to mine
Do Seagate hard drives have encryption? If not, does that mean it is easier to recover data from them?
My sound is just normal when plugged until like a minute and then the sound of rolling stops periodically but the light is still on, could u tell me which part is this that needs to be looked at
The head may be stuck or have issue
Do it practically. No theories.
hey so I have this hard drive which receives power, the laptop detects it and it dies later on, crashing my pc for a bit.. still has power, has a strange vibration to it though, not the normal type what do you think the problem would be?
There may be a problem with the hard drive motherboard and it is causing a short to your laptop
@@lapfix I did hear sth getting shorted initially
Definitely bad sectors, parts of the disk are damaged and hard to read, usually inn the service area. The hard drives trying to work, and gets stuck in a loop. Can slow your PC to a crawl. Very common.
whats the screw type to open the motherboard?
how to do decryption of the donor board?
And if you have dropped clicking hard drive and there problems with heads and firmware you need use WD TREX or WD Explorer to upload raw firmware and collect all firmware from surface.
After than possible disconnect and pair damaged heads. This hard drive will not start if one of the heads have reading problem so need upload firmware to memory first and after adjust heads parameter or pair heads for reading data. so after reading good heads need replace heads. For that need find out right heads use heads compatible table from WD. use heads need reset MR settings and use cript to calculate it if it necessary for new heads. Upload firmware to memory start it and read rest heads use head map. I can provide that software and access to WD account if it necessary.
Can u name that screw driver that u use to remove the board from back
screw driver
Can I just get the new SATA board and it can work? I will NOT be recovering the data, I just would like to use it. I already have everything backed up in a different way. From what I saw it seems like this could work, you said it wouldn’t but I don’t care about the data on there I will overwrite
How you open it?
Dónde estas ubicado?
Need replacement for WDBBEP0010BRD-01
Old WD My Passport?
These thick weird in-between drives are such trash.
Anybody can explain why USB external hdd always fail in their controller?
Why rhe SATA can survive a decade, but usb hdd not
I'll buy Seagate in the future I guess. No encryption or firmware uploads. Just swap the enclosure. WD...yeesh, I love them, but....yeesh!
too much talking.... where can you get that donor board?
Its just a PCB, not a motherboard.
