Kolkata FKA Calcutta was the former Capital of India during the rein of the British Raj between 1773 and the early 1900’s. The East India Company founded its trading post here. Mother house (Missionaries of Charity) founded by Mother Theresa is also buried here. Kolkata is regarded as the cultural capital of India and remains one of its largest cities.
