    Impressive factory tour for sure. We have a Flagstaff Microlite, so this was very interesting to watch. I've always thought that Flagstaff builds one of the best RV trailers out there in the middle of the road price point and this video reinforces my thoughts. Thanks for sharing!

    This is an awesome tour. When my wife and I were shopping for a new trailer, I did a lot of research and she had a few specific requirements. Chief among those was that she didn't want a "mushy" floor. I quickly realize that shopping for an RV with solid plywood floors dramatically reduced our options and in most cases, dramatically raised prices. Rockwood was a standout, offering the highest quality construction I could find anywhere in this price range- even better than many more expensive brands. We've had ours since '21 and couldn't be happier with it.

If he couldn't, he got whoever was the expert in that area. Highly recommend anyone thinking of getting a Rockwood/Flagstaff unit to take this tour. You'll be sold! Just got my new rockwood. Would Forest River like to know everything that was done half assed? Lets start with the gutters...they leak from one end to other... every screw hole drips and you guys didnt even bother to caulk at where you pieced the gutters together. ON BOTH SIDES! The TV has an inch and a half gap on one side and on the other the tv hits the cabinet. I have to remount the TV which is infuritating. The theatre seat was not centered...in fact its so far off its laughable. The side table has a knob that is almost poking through the side of the seat and on the other side there is 4 inches to spare. The caulking on the front is not complete. This makes sense based on seeing how half assed and quickly they are assembling things here in this video. The quality these are built with is shameful. Here is some advice...fast doesnt equal better especially when you are charging over 40 grand for these. Your quality control is demonstrably non-existant. Battery was sitting in an inch of water..maybe drain holes..or better yet a battery cover that can be used with a battery that doesnt let water in and fill it up? This video is proof of the issues I have already seen after 1 week. This poor workmanship should be addressed. You are charging steak house prices for a mcdonalds hamburger level product. Please explain how leaking and non-sealed gutters made it through your quality process...again on both sides of the trailer.

      Sorry to hear, I would send Rockwood customer service an email with photos to address your concerns. Here is there email address rockwoodcustomerservice@forestriverinc.com
      There should be a bead of non sag dicor on the top edge the whole length where the gutter meets the roof, the butt joints of the gutter should have sealant as well.
      Careful remounting anything, double check with a magnet to make sure the metal backing plate is there. Also no screws longer than an inch.
      If you are near Indiana, you may want to attend the FROG rally next year it’s early August, there is lots to do there. Seminars, vendors and touring the area. The factory service department will be there and they will fix warranty items. There is also a big dining hall where they serve breakfast and dinner. There is a cost of $600 or so but we feel it’s worth it, the factory service guys were really helpful. Best of luck!

    They really should put some cross members in the floors and roof for better support and stability but a very well made camper rockwoods are that's why we're ordering one. 5 years of research. In many ways they are built better then Brinkley, in some ways not so much. Need better AC units (Colemans are junk) and better refrigerators, not a fan of magic chef myself. That said, can not wait to get our 371RK, We will video tape the entire process and upload it even though I don't upload videos much.

      We just returned from Rockwood/ Flagstaff, Tina and I did a quick tour of the 371RK. Congratulations on your purchase and Welcome to the Rockwood Family. We really like the build quality of Rockwood / Flagstaff, they have a great system in place that double checks the quality of production. CAI Building, Customer Assurance Inspections, they pull random units and go through them and check everything again very closely. Not only are these same inspections being done on the production line by a separate team, they are brought in to the CAI building to double check to verify that they are at the quality Rockwood / Flagstaff expects. Stay tuned, lots of videos coming soon,! Thanks for watching & commenting!

      What drew myself to the Rockwood 2614 BS was the fact that it had an almost complete full camp kitchen right in the middle of the trailer. I did notice in watching other Rockwood Flagstaff videos that that the 2513 s and the 2507s have the sink in their Camp kitchens. I would have preferred the sink instead of the spray port in which the Rockwood 2614 BS has. From comparing the layouts of the three Camp kitchens the 2614 BS has the reverse layout which would possibly make the plumbing more difficult. Hence no sink. Maybe a simple fix or not is to use the layout from the 2513s since the sinks Plumbing can be routed to the bathroom and the spray ports that are next to it😊

    It's clear these guys are trying to knock out as many units as they can in as short as time as possible. Quality takes a back seat to productivity. I wish the RV manufacturers would change how they throw these things together. You can't convince me that these guys are not making more mistakes after they've been doing this for six + hours. My guess is they have a daily quota and when they meet it, they go home. No difference in pay if it takes them six hours or eight. Thank you for posting this.

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  Před měsícem

      You are correct. Yes, they are trying to knock out as many units they can in a day. It’s called a production line. It’s not General Motors, where guys are sitting around and reading the newspaper.
      One think we noticed is if a station is moving a little slower, the guys/ gals next to them will help.
      The other thing is they all strive for a quality build. They have a points system and are constantly battling to have the lowest points in production.
      Rockwood/ Flagstaff have been around for 50 years.
      Sure they have made mistakes in the past, but they learn from them and keep moving forward.

    I previously wrote this on Forest River's CZcams video comment section: "I really like Forest River products, but I cannot understand if the floor is glued and screwed every 12", then why is my Flagstaff floor popping and squeaking loudly when I walk over it (in one area)? Did whomever screwed the floor down, miss the floor frame underneath? My trailer is a 2023 Flagstaff Micro Lite, and it has the enclosed underbelly. I've owned 11 trailers, 7 Forest River products (6 new, including 3 Flagstaff 21FBRS's). I've spent quite a bit of money with Forest River. It's just disappointing when you find, in my opinion, a larger oversight". I just want them to do better, especially for returning customers.

      Issues happen occasionally, not sure what screws are coming loose. I have had a couple fender skirt screws get loose, issue is our bumpy roads.
      Slide issues can develop if people sit in them when they are closed or set jack stands under them when setup for camping. I have seen both on our travels.
      Our mini lites are built way better then the compilation in our opinion.

      They move to fast , that’s why everything falls apart. They need to slow down and do it right. Having your fridge and microwave, stove fall out of the walls is just ridiculous. It’s incompetent workers that aren’t taking their time and doing it right. And screws falling out everywhere, they need to slow down and put them in properly in the right places.
      The way they move half the screws and staples aren’t even in right.

      They changed the roof membrane for 2024 it’s a 45 mil Alpha ply TPO. Only 2024 units have the lifetime warranty. The speed they move to assemble the floor looks fast to people who work slow. Imagine how much more expensive they would be if they took their time and poked around. There is plenty of adhesive on the aluminum structure and wood to accomplish the secondary bond, even when they drag the plywood a foot or so. Thanks for watching and commenting.

As for roof leaks, the only I recall that I have seen was from maxair vent fan. Under the clips that hold the cover on a little rubber plug didn’t seal the water out. We ended up fixing ours with dicor. When the factory found out there was an issue they fixed it. I try to chime in on FB if I can help. There are many helpful people on these groups. Why do RV makers use a membrane style roof in lieu of a fiberglass CNC cut for penetrations?

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  Před 8 měsíci

      My thought is most Rv’s built have a certain amount of flex in the roof from weather/ expansion & contraction or from stresses while underway. The membrane allows for those movements without compromising the integrity of the seals. I do know that Rockwood is working on one piece fiberglass roof on the Mini Lite. Thanks very much for your reply. My wife and I are looking for a good couple’s unit, plus a small dog, to travel around for about a year and visit the grand kids a couple times a year. Want to be able to get into, at least 50%, of the state parks which looks to be problematic for RV’s longer than 26 to 30 feet. Want something with good storage and the least amount of, shall we say mechanical, difficulties.
      One of the problems I have personally seen and what is talked about quite frequently on CZcams is leakage. So, the idea of a single type of construction method would seem to minimize that issue from occurring. Now I am not talking about molded construction such as an Oliver. But using the same fiberglass, aluminum, and foam composite construction as used in the side panels, for the roof makes a lot more sense. This would keep the thermal coefficients alike throughout the coach. Expansion and contraction would be consistent. When will these new fiberglass roof models be available?
      Thanks

      With that said, they do make some mistakes. The neat thing is there are inspectors on the line going through the RV as it’s being built to verify it meets there standards.
      Furthermore, RV’s get randomly picked and inspected in another building at a much slower rate to verify it meets there standards. Here is our most recent video on that.

      The PVC roof membrane now carries a lifetime warranty.
      The issue with most RV roofs is not the membrane itself, but the flexible seals used on the roof. These are actually maintenance/inspection items and not all owners inspect them. This is typically where leaks occur. Unless the membrane is punctured I haven't heard of anyone having issues with the PVC item itself.
      Plus it allows for flexibility of the trailer as we navigate the roads that we have. You'd have to make the trailer significantly heavier if you didn't want to experience movement and then it wouldn't be a "Lite."

    Just bought a 2024 minilite...I see all of the mistakes in my first mini lite here. This is as half assed unprofessional as it gets. This explains why my marker lights were put on without proper gaskets and caused my previous camper to delam. Quality here is almost non-existent. That these are the higher quality trailers is really sad. I may pull my downpayment after seeing this shit show.

    • @StressLessCamping
      @StressLessCamping Před 7 měsíci +1

      We had a delam in our first MiniLite as well caused by a leak at the marker light. But I also didn't do as was in the manual and ever go up and inspect that seal. Those seals are all routine inspection points. I know now.
      We have a 2023 MiniLite 2205s (same as Tony and Tina!) and the build quality has been outstanding over 12,500 miles we've put on it just since December 2022. There have been no failures of any consequence (a few screws came loose) and all the systems and build have remained as they left the factory.
      There are few manufacturers who do things like pressure testing their finished RVs for leaks.
      We also run a Facebook Group with over 11,000 Rockwood/Flagstaff owners and people typically have very good experiences with these trailers. No product made by humans is perfect naturally.
      But I also appreciate that, when a decision is made, it's typically to favor the better component. Things like MaxXair Fans, ShowerMiser valves, 22" ovens, torsion axle suspensions, Goodyear Endurance tires, on and on. So to state that quality is nonexistent means you either haven't looked at many examples of RV build quality or might not be the right person to own any RV at all.

    • @TNTRVing
      @TNTRVing  Před 7 měsíci

      Sorry to hear of your past situation with delamination. From our view during our visit, (sorry I didn't capture it on film) the quality of the build was very good. They have multiple inspectors at various stages for quality control. If anything is found that is not up to par, it is corrected immediately on the line. All units are pressurized for leaks prior to going out the door. Units are randomly selected to perform a 300-point PDI, they also will take a unit apart for an even closer look at the build quality. When a unit is ordered from a dealer with a customers name attached to it, They perform an extensive PDI prior to shipping it. When we purchased ours I talked to the mechanic who was doing the PDI, he said he loved Rockwood as there were hardly any issues, not like other manufacturers. Hope this helps in your decision making. Thanks for watching!

      @@TNTRVingYou remind me - I used to handle warranties at a dealership in Northern California. While much of our inventory was built on the West Coast (mostly in Washington) we also carried Flagstaff (which is identical to and built in the same plant as Rockwood). These had to be hauled across the country, including in winter, to our dealership so they had already made a long journey to get there.
      Despite this the Flagstaff were not something I typically had any warranty issues with. Our service team did an outstanding job of inspecting units prior to the customer taking delivery and yet it was rare to have to have anything done with a Flagstaff unit despite that long journey they had already made.
      This is just one of the reasons I own one myself so I think the quality is there.

      @@TNTRVing Thanks..that makes me feel a little better because I wasnt there and you were but only slightly. As a builder I can easily spot things these guys were doing incorrectly because they were rushing. The build issues in my previous camper were definitely from this hasty style work exactly as seen in the video. Another example was my water hose was kinked. My fresh water tank has never been used as a result. No way they didnt see that when they put it in same as my marker light. Its in a spot that cant easily be reached. I discovered it by using my cell phone and recording as I stuck my arm in as far as I could reach. They kinked the hose in order to turn a tight corner to get it on the pump so they knew they did it but figured screw the customer. Furnace didnt work either. Also, the screws throughout the camper were screwed into nothing. Nearly every trip we would find screws on the floor and then we would try and figure out where they fell out of. Drawers fell apart and sink fell out because they used two dabs of glue in just two corners. Have pictures of it all. Also every inch that is not living quarters was full of saw dust and contruction debris where they didnt even bother to pick up or vacuum the area when done. In your video as one example of many, he hastily spreads adhesive caulking on the frame for the floor then they proceed to throw the plywood down and drag it across the frame which scrapes it off thus defeating the purpose. It should have been placed directly on top not thrown down and slid across, so yes Rockwoods can boast their build materials but they completely fail in the execution. For the money they are now charging they need to correct the shotty execution of the build quality they are boasting. That being said, the other manufacturers use the same hasty craftsmanship only they use even worse build materials and contruction types. So we the buyers have to choose between crappy build or even crappier build. Seeing this video only confirmed what I thought based on seeing what they did it my first camper. Mine wasnt a lemon it was simply their standard approved build.
