- We checked out the all new 2024 ROCKWOOD MINI LITE 2515S Prototype. This model was equipped with some extra surprises, including a one-piece fiberglass roof. What, no more EPDM, TPO, or PVC? can it be? Is Rockwood/ Flagstaff once again setting the bar higher for other manufacturers?

This really is nice couples camper
I attended the Ocala RV show today. I examined both this and my former favorite, the Grand Design 22MLE, a similar size TT.
I prefer this one for several reasons.
1) The slide mechanisms are appropriate for the size of the slide; rack and pinion for the pantry/theatre seat slide, and Schwintek for the much smaller closet slide. The GD uses the two track Schwintek for their nearly full wall slide housing part of the kitchen and seating. Based on reviews I have seen, that is looking for trouble.
2) This model has slam latches; GD has the twistees.
3) This model has torsion suspension, while GD uses conventional leaf springs.
The GD has more kitchen counter space and a full size queen plus a fully open floor plan.
But on balance, the Rockwood has more robust features that I would find more useful.

Sounds like you are doing your homework. The difference you mentioned are spot on, great job.
There are other things to consider as well, Rockwood/ Flagstaff have all six sides aluminum framed with Azdel inside & out plus block foam insulation in wall panels and roof.
They also use aluminum to support bed frames and dinette’s as well. We just did a video on how the walls a roof are made and earlier this year we did a production video.

I sure wish that Rockwood would make a floorplan like the GD 22MLE, but with Rockwood's spin on it. Such a great floorplan.

The 2515S is a nice looking unit, we like the theater seating and dinette. As with all RV's there is going to be a little give and take. Thanks for watching, Safe Travels and Happy Camping!
We have a 2021 Flagstaff 25FBLS and a dinette is the one thing we realized we wanted afterwards. This would check all the boxes; large bathroom, dinette, and plenty of storage. Thanks for the tour and Safe Travels.

I'm not sure it made it to production. On their website they list this: Vinyl/Rubber Composite Roofing Membrane. I'd gladly spend the extra $ for a fiberglass roof.
@@ThomasVMan A laminated fiberglass roof is the difference between owning a Rockwood RV that is worthless in 10-15 years or one that is still operational in 30 years. I'd pay extra for that roof too.

Awesome video as always. Question on the roof. It looks awesome. It appears to something like a Filon material. I had a Jayco Alante Class A motorhome that had this type of roof. I really liked it. If Rockwood/Flagstaff would go in this direction it would be another contribution to their superior build quality. I currently have a 27BHWS SUPERLITE. We are planning to downsize in retirement. The Micro/Mini appears to be a good choice for our future needs.
Your future Roof on the Mini Lite will likely have a one piece vacuum laminated fiberglass roof. The roof on this unit appeared to be a thicker fiberglass, feels like side wall thickness. We love Rockwood/ Flagstaff as they are once again setting the bar higher for other manufacturers.

Nice floor plan. We have a 2608 and enjoy theater seats and dinette. Biggest miss I see is no room for the fireplace. Years ago I thought it was a gimmick but since having one in our 2021, we love it to take the chill out.
Agree, we love and use our fireplace frequently. We do however would love to have both theater seating and dinette, might have to adapt and get a small ceramic heater. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy Camping!

Great area. If you have time, on your way up, camp at Interlochen SP. Great spot to explore Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Old Mission Point (wine country), Fish Town and more. Northern Michigan is beautiful and so much to do. Safe travels.

I see this one comes with a 74” bed. Can an 80” be put in its place? A 74” bed is a deal breaker and noticed a lot of these Mini Lites have a 74” bed.
Unfortunately this on only comes with the 74” queen. If you added the 80” queen you would not be able to walk around the bed. There are some that have the 80” queen, the 2205s, 2608bs and the 2516s for examples. Thanks for commenting and watching. 🙂

Nice walk-through. Looks like that might be an on-demand water heater? What is the weight and length of this unit? Likes: Roof is awesome. Looks very solid with minimal upkeep. Fridge doors are cool. Concerns: not much counterspace in the kitchen. Might just be because it's a video, but living area seemed a little tight. Short queen bed in a ynit this size??? Huge miss.
Hi Janis, No It's a Gas Electric water heater, I had just mentioned to Tina that we should start providing the weights & lengths of the RVs in the videos. We initially left that info out so we wouldn't be bombarded with questions on towing. The counter space is a little small in this unit but having a dinette makes up for it. the 60" x 74" bed is a little too small for Tina, but ok for me. As always Thanks for watching and Commenting.
It's a nice trailer , I have a Flagstaff 25 fbls . Good thing I have a F250 because my tongue weight is 918 lbs . 50% more than the manufacturer claims , not many 1/2 tons can safely carry that .
We pull our 2205s with a 3/4 ton GMC, it’s nice to have the extra payload capacity. Thanks for watching and commenting!
