I had the pleasure of working around one of the first Pacific bed trucks seen here in Alberta bought by McLean Bros. Trucking of Drumheller Alberta. At the time this was the biggest bed truck in Alberta (1978 or 1979 my memory is getting bad). I am 5' 10" tall and I laid across the hood and didn't touch both sides of it. Standing beside it at the front bumper, my shoulder came to the bottom of it. I remember the smile on Alvin McLean's face when he wheeled that beast into the yard. Next morning she was tearing drilling rigs to pieces, taking it somewhere else, and putting it back together again. If I remember correctly it was common place for it to be used for the removal of the drilling rig draw works which weighed around 57000 lbs. She would take that load on her back like it was a loaf of bread. She wouldn't even grunt.

I'm proud to say I had the pleasure of being an employee of Pacific Truck and Trailer in 70's and 80's.
I ended up getting a professional license but ended up driving a concrete truck. Bit safer then driving one of these beasts.

I worked on the large Pacifica trunks out Nanaimo Lake Road up until 2020. We called them fat trucks. Massive power and loads. They hauled full lengths trees down to a sort area where they were cut to approx. 46 feet and loaded onto highway trucks to go to the mills. Retirement sucks.

I worked as a mechanic on some early Pacific trucks used in Tasmania in 1979 they were owened by the Hydro Electric Company of Tasmania during the construction of the Hydro Electric dams in the West Coast of Tasmania. The trucks were twin steer and powered by both Detroit and Cummins engines.

About the Wagner log stacker and Allied Systems of Sherwood Oregon. Allied was started by a Vice President and salesman that Worked at Wagner Mining Equipment Co, Portland Oregon. Eddie Wagner one if I think 5 Wagner brothers started Wagner Mining just across the the street from the log stacker manufacturing plant off of 158 St and Sandy Blvd. The Wagner Family long before WW2 started manufacturing under Wagner Tractor in manufacturing the Scoop mobile front end loader and Mix Mobile, which I believe was the first truck chassis mounted concrete mixer in the world. Then came the center articulated farm tractor that was manufactured for years. Full disclosure I used to work for Wagner Mining until Atlas Copco who owned the plant closed it and moved it to Sweden. I used to work with a lot of old timers at Wagner Mining that came over from the log stacker division that was closed after FWD closed it. So some history of Allied Systems and where it all started. Allied purchased the rights to the Wagner name to use in the log stackers and wood clip pushing machines so that’s who the Wagner name still lives on. The rest is owned by Atlas Copco of Sweden.
