- This song was a bonus track on the Mighty Van Halen's "Best Of" album in 1996... it was a brief reunion for the 4 original members of the group. It makes me wonder what could have been if they would have made a whole new album together -- this rocks IMO! 🤘🤘🙏🙏

Yesss! Holy Cow Mike - You SMOKED it on this one! I swear I can remember back in the day, getting this CD, and hearing this song. At that time I was more into Hagar for sure. And reeling a bit as things went south with him. I go back and forth these days. Probably 55/45 leaning towards Hagar. But it depends on the day. LOL But when I heard this song... I couldn't believe it. More of the modern Edward tone. Heavier chorus. But they still had something special with Dave, and this song just blew me away. Holy cow, brother. You crushed this! You know I love it when you use the whole kit. An AVH trait for sure. And you were all over those toms... you had the bell going. And what a killer back-beat on that kick. Coming from a Life-Long Van Halen FREAK... you dialed the tone in 100% - spot on. And your work back there behind that (absolutely amazing) kit is absolutely min-boggling. This is one of my faves yet, of yours! Keep em' coming, Bro!

But I never really noticed how complex the drums were until I tried to cover it... Alex was really a beast here! And Eddie, of course, was just other-worldly with the guitar work. My only complaint is that they could have had more of the early VH-style vocal harmonies with Mikey's voice being more prominent... that would have been pretty cool. 3 things blew me away with this cover. 1.) The sound. I've said it before, but you got the Van Halen kit on lock. Do you have to recreate anything when you do all these or are they now just falling into place with the previous kits you built? 2.) The playing. Alex is no slouch on the kit and does some really odd time measures and you follow it like walking in a straight line. Simply amazing. 3.) The shirts. You create some of the coolest brand logo shirts that I am so friggin' jealous. I think you've mentioned that's what you do for a living (graphics artist?). I suppose I need to step up my game to compete for them views. Ah, who am I kidding, I'm not going to do anything different. I'm too lazy! 🤣🥸 Another great cover Mike!

Thanks so much for your great comments & support Mike! To answer your questions: I started drumming when I was 11, but I didn't play for many years while I was raising a family. I started playing again about 12 years ago, when I bought this Yamaha e-kit! As far as practice time on a song, it depends on the tune! I bet this one took 12 hours total, spread out over weeks. Hard to say, because I usually practice more than one song at a time. And this kit is an older Yamaha DTXpress e-kit that cost around $2000.
