I bought mine last spring and used it all summer long because our leagues were cancelled because of Covid. The only issue I had with it was the air valves. The original set lasted a few months then failed. I replaced it with a spare that came with the pop toss and it failed rather quickly as well. Now I see on the pop toss website they have new metal air valves that are included with the pop toss. Apparently they will last up to 5 years. I'm still waiting for mine. Other than the valve issue, it's a great product.

We must’ve gotten lucky with ours cause we haven’t had that problem but I’ve seen other people that had the air valve fail as well.

Bought a pop toss few years ago. Tough finding a buddy to hit when I want to hit. Yes , I can only use it when the weather is good, not windy, and valve is good (also have a tee to use). Customer service was great. Valve went bad and they sent a whole new bottom piece. Was not expecting that level of service for the price. NOW, for those having issues..... my kids always tell me I modify everything to meet my needs, wants, and pocket book. This is no different. I needed more distance and height on the pitch and 3 bottles of water did not keep it steady. I use the same balls over and over so can't do anything about the hard/soft/normal issue. I raise the height of the pop toss by putting it on top of some yoga steppers (gives me a higher pitch and little more time to look at it) and put a 15lb slam ball on the base where the bottles go (the only movement, if any, is to the side ie.throwing and inside or outside pitch) which is easy to remedy. When setting up, I place each ball the same way for best consistency, walk to home plate (or use a glove if not on a field) and catch three balls in the same spot before loading to hit. Set the timer to allow me about 5 seconds in box to get ready. Affordable, useable, dependable and company still doing things to make it better.

I've had my Pop Toss for 3 years now. Money WEEELLL spent. Obviously it isn't perfect in terms of replicating live pitching, but it's damn close. With a little patience, you can easily learn how to make the Pop Toss work well/consistently. I have untold thousands of swings on the Pop Toss. I've been through at least 4 springs (they do wear out after a while), and I've replaced the small plastic valve once. Besides that, I've had zero problems with it. Every few sessions I'll take it apart and wipe all the surfaces down with neatsfoot oil. That seems to keep everything lubricated and clean. I love my Pop Toss, and when/if it ever breaks I'll buy another without hesitation. Another thing I like about this company is that they'll replace any broken components quickly and for free.

I have one myself, but my biggest issue is trying to find a good launch angle. not to high, not to flat.

With different balls, the covers can be softer like the ROCK ball or harder like the Dudley ZN.....does this affect the distance of the ball being ejected? Or, so close it doesn't matter? Didn't know if you had to use all of the exact same ball? Also, is it powerful enough to pitch it 50 feet which is the minimum distance in pitching? Or, is it only a short pitch machine? Would be nice to have tent stakes to drive into dirt to keep it in place. What is the price? Thanks.

We use an assortment of different balls from usssa to asa and it throws them close enough to not make a difference. It won’t throw 50 feet it just has that one setting so it’ll just throw a short pitch. Tent stakes would be a nice addition for sure but we haven’t had much issue with it moving if we use it in the grass. And it cost $160 when we bought it. Thanks for the reply and if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

I have found that the harder core ball, the less distance. In my experience, using a 52/300 ball, there is at least a 5 foot difference between that and a 40/375 ball.

That’s correct and you can adjust the timer so you can get back in time and get setup to hit.

Seems like be money well spent. Helps teach a good swing. Dont buy a 300 dollar bat if you got a 3 dollar swing

Bought one. Worked as advertised. I can't tell you how much I hated it. I threw it in the garbage. Let me explain why. 1. timing. Pitching distance is for most sanctions at 50 feet. This device gives you 10-12 feet max. That's like having a person standing literally right in front of you. You can't get the proper timing. 2. height. I play SSUSA which is 6 feet to 12 feet. This device will give you a maximum of about 7 feet if you are lucky. 3. Inconsistent. Even with the same balls and weight on the back it will not pitch more than 2 balls in the same place. You are constantly having to adjust it. 4. Mechanical Issues. Air valve and spring make for an inconsistent performance. When you get the device...there are a ton of warnings about how delicate you have to treat this PVC pipe and its valves. Finally, it's a tube. The spring is released at a slightly different time each pitch. It drives you nuts...as it has no similarity to watching a pitcher actually release a ball. As much as I love the idea of such a portable machine, nothing really replaces live pitch from a human being standing at 50 feet. The best mechanical alternative is to Louisville Slugger Mechanical Pitching machine, but you need someone to feed balls into that machine. Summary: Love the idea. I can't use it, though. It drives me nuts.

I bought one and it was a complete waste of money. Timer would not stay set where I needed it either took forever or threw it before I could get back to the plate to hit, I’ve played softball for almost 40 years and I would not recommend buying the pop toss.
