- Hi all :)
Let's make a big update. It's May 20th, and the winter was really cloudy, so depending on the species/hybrids, there are a lot of changes.

Why this channel?
I plan to show you how other nepenthes growers from around the world grow their plants on their windowsill and grow tent.
If you are interested and want to show us your plants, contact me so that I can set an interview.
(All you need is a recent smartphone and a good WiFi, I'll take care of the software).
Happy growing everyone!
Remy.
Mollis means soft in latin, which refers to the fact that mollis is covered by a lot of tiny hairs, when it was discovered the collected speciement had no pitchers on it so hairs were the only distinctive feature and they felt soft in touch so thats the name, also I have one on windowsill grows slowly and didnt pitcher for me yet.
Thanks for the info 😊. I don't have pure n. mollis because it is super slow ;) I'm not patient enough
I had almost 5 leafs in 7 months with leaf jumps so not that bad, too slow for you huh? How about your truncata or edwardsiana seedlings those have to be vigorous growers😂, also update on my villosa on windowsill since I started leaving it on windowsill during day it just stoped growing (for 2 months now) I can't identify any specific reason it still gets cold nights, I suspect that pot is heating a lot in the sun since its black (southern windowsill). I have just started putting it under grow light I will see how it reacts, under those it had some crazy leaf jumps.
@@notbarus9309make some videos of your plants please!!!! 😂
@@notbarus9309humidity and pot temps for sure, villosa need pretty exact temp ranges or, like you said, will stop growing, mine did that, but once it got the correct temps again it grew
Beautiful plants!!! Very well cared for! Awesome work!!!
🦉❤ welcome back , lovely update! to my understanding pure mollis is fuzzy , i did read a neat hypothesis that it was derived possibly as a hybrid of veitchii x fusca ancestrally 🤔
Welcome back, my friend. Can’t wait to see you continue growing!
I recommend you to try the hybrid Bicalcarata X Maxima. It gets quite large and nice purple pitchers and fits well for lowland and intermediate conditions
Thanks for the tour mate. Kind regards from Oz...
Great update!
That double tendril is crazy! If it pitchers on both that would be amazing!
ta sphaigne est magnifique!
C'est vrai, mais pas partout. S'il n'y a pas assez de lumiere ou trop de mouvement d'air, elle meure. ;) Certain pots sont moche haha
I seen on carnivero Instagram page there going to be shipping to Canada! Awesome collection you have!
Happy Growing
They are huuuugeee, congrats. You should start thinking about a greenhouse
Haha thanks
Why not put the cuttings in Spaghnum instead of the water, it wil not take more space ;-) Love to see another video!! Thanks for the info en the nice pictures.
I am in the south eastern united states and was wondering what you do to maintain humidity outside of an enclosure such as your windowsill? is the moss, trays and amount of plants enough to maintain proper humidity for intermediates ?
Spraying the moss twice a day, the amount of trays and plants, and the water trays: czcams.com/video/lNK6CUaoN9Y/video.html
I've another question, what Pinguicula are doing great on your windowsill? Nice to "get rid of" nasty fungus gnats, thrips etc.
It's a old video but here it is: czcams.com/video/erxNBr1xABI/video.html
@@WindowsillNepenthes Thanks .... and love your hair ;-)
Awesome plants as always Remy! Are you using any paste or anything to help the cuttings roof?
None. ;) They root just fine with plain RO water. ;)
What substrate do you use for your heliamphoras? How do you water them?
I use sphagnum/peat/perlite but well drained (50% of perlite), in a 6-7 inched tall pot, resting in 1 inch of water.
Amazing video! I now want to recreate my windowsill just like yours!
Also where do you sell your nepenthes? I always wanted an ampullaria, but its sold out at brads :(
Contact me on Facebook or Instagram ;)
why do you root them in water? i have a 100% succes rooting them directly in substrate in about a month...
Is like to have a look at the roots 🙂 if rooting in substrate works for you, just keep doing it ;)
Where do you post your plants for sale?
in a week, I'll probably make a post in Canadian forums and the Canadian Facebook group. ;)
ampullaria and lowii in the same grow tent?
For a short period of time, not recommended as the lowii was supposed to be for my windowsill for a test...
Hi, i have fungus gnats. i have 3% peroxide solution can i water it with 1/5 water? And i put in a cup of vinegar. But if i kill them my plant has no food :(
Your plants can survive without food, and simple Betta fish pellets will replace fungus gnats. Here is a few ways to slow them down: czcams.com/video/sifZBap-X84/video.htmlsi=5akLh4Sn3zAz4aPg
Can you please tell us where you sourced the nepenthes veitchii seedlings as someone living in canada?
For n. veitchii, I got the small plants from MT (my last import) and BCP years ago. I never successfully grow this species from seeds 😔
@@WindowsillNepenthes thank you, I will try to use those websites to buy new nepenthes in the future, as I am taking your advice on starting small with a ventrata so that I can understand how it grows and gain some experience before getting something like a veitchii :)
Hey there I recently got a nepenthes lowii x ventricosa but its very small and the roots on it are really little as well, do you know what I should do to help the roots grow longer?
Try a nicely drained substrate and give it some time ;)
@@WindowsillNepenthes will try it out, thanks! Would coco peat mixed with orchid bark do fine?
@@nutgoogle7463 That could work it you have enough perlite and the coco is VERY well rinced. You absolutely need to get rid of the salt in it. Let it rest in water and then test the PPM of the water. ;)
@@WindowsillNepentheswill do, thanks mate 🫡
@@WindowsillNepenthes Watched some more of your videos, the nepenthes was in a bad state but thanks to all your tips its starting to grow a flower I think 🤔 at least looks like something is starting to grow at the top, anyway thanks for making these videos.
fyi humidity has no effect on pitcher color, as claimed in this video. What improves the color is actually stronger light.
I don't claim 😆 it's more thinking out loud. And check this video and you will see colors can influence leaves color for lack of better explanation: czcams.com/video/lo03NNnXBgU/video.htmlsi=c149bcnJcWBP9Q0q
@@WindowsillNepenthes that leads to some weird ad. Are you sure thats the correct link?
20 minutes was not long. lol. i could watch this for an hour 😂
haha thanks
bump
I really hope that isn't mold on your windows 😭
it's always like that and after winter, and it goes away with tissue and water. Probably some kind of algae.
