Can attest to it’s awesomeness, we were there on a not very busy day and went on it 5 times in a row. Couldn’t understand a thing, but it didn’t matter, it was simply amazing. The scene where you feel like you rise from the bottom of the sea and emerge on the surface in the middle of a sea battle has to be experienced to be believed.
Yep, you really don't need to understand the language to know what's going on. Which is the sign of a well developed story! I went with my mom, and there was a japanese family behind us. None of us knew what they were saying, but the whole time both parties were saying "omg! Wow! Amazing!"
Same! I rode it in 2019, it was a busy time but I still managed to ride it 3 times on my trip. It was amazing, I was left completely speechless.
Disney Parks channel has a full ride through with subtitles if you want to check it out.
As much as I love the original, the Shanghai version battle between two ships is amazing
its the only thing id visit china for.
I have seen this ride on CZcams for years now and I never knew that the boat could rotate! Also it was nice finally learning what the ride story was👍 Good job.
This is one Disney attraction that really goes above and beyond. It looks great on video, so I'm sure that its screen effects are even more convincing in person. I would never want this to replace any of the classic Pirates attractions, but I think it would make a lot of sense for Disney's Hollywood Studios. Replace the Animation Courtyard area with this and it would fit perfectly into the park.
having eaten at barbosa’s bounty, to call it “just a table service” does not do it justice. it is some of the best disney dining i have ever experienced, and i’ve eaten at every park in the world. my family shared the “pirates feast” which consisted of bbq, fish, lobster, shrimp, steamed corn, and more. it was truly a one of a kind experience
Great video.
I like this version. Simply because it is different and not the standard cookie-cutter attraction we’ve seen elsewhere. Paying respect to the attraction's past in those little details is key to showing the evolution of such a ride and its story.
Love this style of video and format guys! I think I speak for a lot of people when I say “Please make more!!” of not only the videos you guys are already known for like looking back at the past but these too for Disney, Universal, and some of their brands out there because there are a lot of stories people don’t fully understand yet but you guys told this in such great detail that anyone can truly learn so much from!
Keep up the great work!!
Visited Shanghai Disney just over a year ago, and damn Treasure Cove is awesome. And yeah, the attraction is awesome! Didn't understand a word of the spoken story, but that has little to no effect on the enjoyment of the ride. If you get the chance, go for it! It's more than worth it.
When my girlfriend and I went to Shanghai Disneyland in 2019 we went on this ride for 4/5 rides and its just the best pirates I've ever been on. It really is a masterpiece
“Captain X” at the start of the ride is an homage to Xavier “X” Atencio the Imagineer who voices the skull at the original attraction at Disneyland and the lyricist of the song “Yo Ho, Yo Ho a Pirate’s Life for Me”.
@CHARLES HOWELL There's proof it's X. Look up his obit in the Huffington post. It mentions that X is the voice of the skull.
I think this update technology should come to Disneyland! Its AMAZING!!!!
It is a wonderful Pirates Of The Caribbean. But the original is great!
They should leave the disneyland one alone but build this version in Disney world
I love how the intro music for this video is something from the video game “Sea of Thieves.”
Fantastic. Fantastic. bloody fantastic. this made my day!
I live in Shanghai and this is my favorite ride in the park. We usually go on not so busy days so we get to ride it several times in a row, often coming back for another round later on during the day. The excerpts from the movie soundtracks they have used for every scene are also worthy of mention, plus the fact that the sound is actually in the ride vehicle to make sure everything syncs.
I had the pleasure of going to Shanghai Disneyland in 2019 during Lunar New Year and the place was empty. I went on this ride at least a dozen times. This ride is incredible. When I was riding it, I remember saying "this is nothing like the original!". I love the Anaheim original, but this ride is something completely different and ridiculously fun to ride. Yeah, I couldn't understand a single word that's spoken, but it doesn't matter at all. Also, The Tron Coaster is great.
ReviewTyme, thanks for the breakdown of the attraction's storyline. This was the first attraction I rode on my trip to Shanghai Disneyland in 2019 and it's an experience I'll never forget. The way in which the Imagineers were able to weave the story and action into ever inch of the ride experience was utterly spectacular. So thankful that Disney had the chance to revisit and build upon on a classic and beloved attraction.
The best part of this ride is that there are multiple boats running at different scenes, making it very efficient to move the lines. It is one of the best ride, but the wait time is always minimun. What a well designed ride!
With “on-board” audio it would be amazing if they could rotate a boat here and there to English audio. Could easily have guests wait in an area at the end of the normal queue for it for the next boat.
Hong Kong Disney offers Jungle Cruise rides narrated in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin. You just line up for the appropriate language and wait for a boat with someone who can speak it. When we went, all 3 lines were pretty much the same wait time, I think because some of the cast members probably speak multiple languages. I'm not sure how many English speaking guests and cast members are at Shanghai Disney though, and whether they can have a flexible rotation system. With HK Disney it's just the people that need to be swapped around, not the boat itself.
Japanese rides are also just in Japanese. But, I agree that there should be at least a few English boats within the rotation.
Amazing attraction! The scene with the ships rising up from the bottom is incredible! Enhanced by the fact that the real water is right up against the screen! 😱
Universal should take notes about how to properly use screens
This ride looks pretty good, especially the effects.
I would love to see a blend of this and the original. Something with the story and beats of the original, but with the effects and magic of this version. Maybe a retelling I the first movie, which is heavily inspired by the ride, so that both groups have representation
Pretty good?!!! This doesn’t do it justice. It’s the best ride I’ve ever experienced. It’s a ride like no other!!!
I have been to Shanghai Disney and ridden this ride twice, and I can tell you it is truly spectacular!
These ReviewTyme videos have the best visuals of any Disney reviewers on CZcams. Thanks for putting such impressive effort into them. Glad I subscribed!
Reviewtyme used footage of my favorite launch coaster!!*happy cheesnep noises* that was enough to get you a sub
I went on this ride many times during my trip to Shanghai Disneyland and it was truly spectacular! Thanks ReviewTyme for giving an inside look into the ride!
This was the one ride at disneyland shanghai that blew me away because i simply did not expect it to be so good. Tron was great yea, but it was kind of obvious since it was heavily marketed before you even get there. This one took me by surprise and i still think its the greatest ride there and honestly one of the best rides at any disneyland ive been to
It always makes my day to see a Review Tyme video in my notifications list :) You guys are great!
Light and Magic did some special effects for the pirates of the Caribbean films too
Thanks for another awesome video lads! Can't wait so see you hit 40k subs. So close !!
I’ve never been but I’ve seen videos dozens of times. The score is amazing and always brings a tear to my eye lol
Awesome. Love to see it person someday. Thanks for the video.
That was incredible! Thank you.
Come through SOT 🙏🏻
The ride itself looks absolutely amazing and really shows what can be done... but it makes me laugh how the chinese dont like pirates yet not only had a ride but a how section dedicated to pirate theming...
The expression: they’ve been Shanghai’d. ;).
I've been on all the PotC and this is by far the best. I still love the originals, but this sets a new standard for future top tier dark rides.
7:38, wow. It's like the Pinnochio house at Disney World where you can watch and wave at people at Its a Small world.
Thank you for letting me geek out to this ride without the addition of true spoilers ❤
We need this ride in the states for sure!!! Looks so amazing!
We don't. This ride already exists in Shanghai. We need original unique attractions in the States, not copycats.
One of the most mind-blowing attractions I've been on, comparable or even better than star wars rise of the resistance
I like the Sea of Thieves soundtrack on the video
This ride looks amazing, and insane compared to its siblings in other parks. I would go to Shanghai just to ride this, and would also love to see it come in different forms to other parks in expansions, like Disneyland Forward.
Stunning
Wow what else do they have? I subtribe to a number of theme park channels but your's is the my favorite by far, nice work boys!
Thank you for this, it’s my favourite ride at Shanghai Disneyland and I’ll go on in multiple times every visit. But I’ve never understood what was going on.
I interpreted the first part of the ride( the cave with the skeletal refs to the old ride) as:
'Oh, yes. The old ride was fun and dandy. But that's in the past now. We are gonna give you something completely new!'
This ride was amazing, i rode this 3 times during my visit to Shanghai
Love the sea of thieves music in the background
AWESOME!!!!
Looks a thousand times better than USA version. Plus, they leave the auction scene in tact.
That scene isn't in Shanghai
Great channel!
Well I have something new to add to the bucket list for when the plague is over this looks amazing!
I hope they update Magic Kingdoms Pirates to this new version. It looks so amazing!
Great video
I rode this and all I can say is...how much money was poured into making it..it is so freaking amazing..so immersive and just jaw dropping wow...however the local guests were taking flash photos and really chaotic 😒
Liked and subscribed!!!!
looks great
What does Davy Jones want a treasure for ? He's always sailing
Wow 👏 😮 👏 we need one here in the USA 🇺🇸
I find it hard to beleive electromagnetic propulsion can work underwater. I always beleived they needed to stay "high and dry"
Can you make a video like this on the Adventure Isle 'Walkthrough' attraction please? 🙏🙏
I wanna go!!!
Pirates of the Caribbean: BFST is the best Disney dark ride in the world. Yes, better than Rise. Not even close really. They need to figure out a way to bring it to Walt Disney World.
Eating at Barbossa's is fun too, especially when you're not sure what you're ordering. 😃
Awsome ride
You forgot to mention the ending where Davey Jones makes Jack's bottle of rum vanish.
"Why's the rum _always_ gone?"
"Whilst the movies are incredibly popular in China, pirates in general are seen as criminals"
Can you feel the eye runny?
Real pirates were criminals !
I wish they would replace the Magic Kingdom version with the Shanghai version. The MK version is already vastly inferior to the OG Disneyland version so updating it would bring a breath of new life to MK.
I don't. Magic Kingdom already has Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and is soon getting Tron. It doesn't need to copy another ride from Shanghai. What happend to building unique and original attractions? Where's the imagination?
Go away.
@@Lil_Angry_Bitch nearly every ride Disney builds is a copycat, because it is more cost effective. 99.99% of Disney World visitors will never visit Shanghai so it doesn’t matter if they have identical rides. Plus, Shanghai still has plenty of unique experiences to offer, and will soon be home to a Zootopia land. Magic Kingdom’s ride lineup is a bit disappointing for WDW’s flagship park, so I say go for it.
@@Dragonessa007 They should have already after the stupid redhead change.
Yo I love how you used sea of thieves music👍🏼
Still wish we got the epic Splash Mountain like version.
I think, when they do use physical show scenes and animatronics, this is a really good version of Pirates; even if I’d prefer the regular storyline as opposed to this “sequel” type of story.
I will say that the show scenes that rely primarily or solely on screens and projections are a real let down for this ride, even if the animations are good in them. It just takes me out of the immersion that Disney rides usually attempt to put on display, and really just feels like something that was “half-assed” and that Universal would do instead.
if you see that in person, believe me, the dome screen is better than expected. It really cheats your eyes and convinces you that the water surface is elevated.
Thanks for all the great information! I thought it was quite clever to use the pirate music from Planet Coaster for the video; it's so close in style to the music from the films, and it won't get tagged by CZcams.
Oh yea, lives up to the original and gives it something more. And I'm only going by this video.
Wish the parks would develop a syncronized audio lauguage translator thru phones or separate device.
Sea of Thieves soundtrack. NICE
Such an incredible ride, too bad I have no plan to go to Shanghai due to... complications between my country and theirs.
this could really be a good tie-in with the presumably final film in the franchise
7:35 Blue Bayou is also at Disneyland Paris
It's called Pepper's Ghosts. 200 year old and still the effect is being used.
I read somewhere they took water from each extant pirate ride to pour into Shanghai’s ride water. Something akin to rivers of America.
Yep they did! They poured water from every other pirates ride in the World into this one just before opening to make it part of the family! - Luke
@@ReviewTyme kind of like a good luck christening.
I don’t think the scenes with just a giant screen look very good but the rest looks awesome
Follows the trend in all newer rides -- more projections, less animatronics that can break down.
Agreed it was the best ride in SDL, besting Tron. Waiting to see if it'll be unseated by Zootopia.
It's an OmniMover on water. LOL! But, Yeah! Dis parks overseas will say "I want Space Mountain, Winnie the Pooh, Big Thunder....but better than what is in America. I still can't wait to ride it!
A unique Ride indedd, but in my Opinion to less Animatronics, in the other Rides are to many why not between? But all are amazing Rides👍🏻🥰🥰🥰
If I were to choose between Tron and Pirates to be brought to the US parks, it would be Pirates but they chose Tron 😩. I guess Pirates is such a classic iconic ride that they don't want to get rid off.
They've always been afraid of losing the teen crowd, so it makes sense that they brought over a roller coaster
I hope they bring it to WDW but put it in Hollywood Studios
Hong Kong Disneyland probably could build a Pirates Ride, If they themed it to Little Mermaid.
is that the Planet Coaster music "Sailing the High Seas" I hear in the background?
Wait ur right
Sea of thieves
wait, it uses permanent magnets on the ride vehicles propelled by passing over periodic electromagnets? it's an underwater peoplemover!
A wanted poster for Davy Jones? Who's going to get him ?
honestly this might be the only reason why I wanna go to shanghai disneyland (and not tokyo disney sea or tokyo disneyland). I went to tokyo disney sea twice and hongkong disneyland once. I think my next destination will be tokyo disneyland and sea, then shanghai disneyland
I dont lobe the new trend of flat screens to show whatbyoure supposed to be feeling but sometimes its convincing.
This ride looks great, but they don't have my beloved Barbossa there
Well , they've his Wanted poster
Rode it twice.
Although impossible due to confusion by the non-Disney diehards, this whole area and ride strictly based on the movie franchise should be the next addition to Hollywood Studios. Someday it will be a full day park!
Don't you guys have a review of the whole park?
One of the best rides in all of the Disney parks no question. This was a precursor to what they did with Rise of the Resistance in terms of scale.
Where can we see more of that animation shown at 2:00?
He has a title card on screen that shows it's from here. czcams.com/users/TEAThemedEntertainmentAssociationvideos heaps of videos worth a watch.
Pirates one is czcams.com/video/P8717fVMfCU/video.html
Sea of thieves music 😂
One of the ONLY reasons I want to go to China.
How has screen technology improved yet. It would be AMAZING if the screens werent brighter than the actual props. I know it sound picky, but I am CONSTANTLY baffled how they cant match the colors better... There always seems to be a bright white tint to the animated portions
Did you say Toccata and Fugue in a Bmin? It’s actually in Dmin. (BWV 565)
