Westerlund's reaction to Lehterä's "interference" call (the one which led to Russia's first goal) was a big smile. I think he realized right away what was happening, and that his team had no chance of getting a fair chance to win.
good video that shows exactly how bad the russians are, but you missed that penalty that lead to the first russian goal, when a finnish player was skating forward and a russian player skated in to him and the finn got a 2min penalty for interference. but this game was a super fiasko and like if i didnt have any respect for russians before i have eaven less respect now.
Yes, that situation was the worst one. Finnish hockey fans are used to lost games and they usually tolerate referee mistakes, but this game was too much. I think finnish also know, that Russian team was clearly the best team in the tournament.

Okay here's the thing... We're not whining because we lost the game. (In fact I'm incredibly proud of our team for making it that far with that many first-timers.) We're complaining because we weren't given a slightest change and a game as important as that deserves proper referees and fair play. For those Einsteins who keep saying that Russia had better players than Finland let me tell you this. Not once in the history of ice hockey, did Finland win a single game in finals or semi-finals because Finland had better individual players. Finland has always won with players who play well together, not by putting 5 NHL stars in the same team who fight each other for the possession of the puck. Whenever Finland won, it was because the team was better, not because they had better players. The reason why people (not only finnish but pretty much everyone else who wasn't russian) are mad about this match, is not because Russia won the game. It's because the referees saw Putin in the stands and made sure that Finland doesn't stand a fucking chance in the match. The actions of the players was with one word rediculous, and more than once they were very close to ending people's careers. If you disagree, watch the whole match and this time keep at least one eye open.

Yes, this is totally my bad. Shipatsov tackled Jormakka in their earlier game which was played 1 week before this final. Jormakka got tackled again really bad in this final by Denis Denisov. I was supposed to post that Denisov tackle video, instead of this Shipatsov, but i accidently took the wrong video (i made a correction in a Finnish version of this video). Anyway, Jormakka got tackled in this final game by this another Russian player, Denis Denisov, and got concussion, and he had to quit the game in last round. So the outcome was same, even tho video isn't. Russian player Denis Denisov tackled violently in this final, Finnish player Jormakka got injuries and had to quit - no penalty for Russia ("referees didnt see anything in this time", like they didn't in that last game neither..)
Luiz Henrique Denisov's hit was totally clean. U can't bitch about every hit if a player gets injured, this is not ballet. Jormakka should have just kept his head up.
Luiz Henrique You seem to be bending the truth quite a bit. Denisov's hit in the final was clean. And Jormakka did not receive a concussion from that hit, instead it was an upper torso injury. You also "forgot" to mention that Shipatshov received a three-game suspension (which was too much IMO) afterwards for his hit in the first game, so he _was_ penalized for that. And BTW, I'm Finnish. The referees in the final game and throughout the tournament sucked and they always have in IIHF tournaments, but you should still stick with the facts.
I'd just like to point out to the people who claim Malkin's cross-check on Haula's face was "not a big deal", it broke his jaw. He did play the rest of the game, but it was obviously a major penalty.
Losing to Finland on their own grounds in Sochi was too much of a humiliation, so they needed to "prove their power" on their little brother Belarus' terrain at all cost, resorting to dirty play. "Oh look what great heroes we are. Taking revenge. Yay."
With the clearly corrupted referee work and the rule-breaking acts of the the Russian head-coach, it seems very possible - if not even likely - that the following foul-play also took place: At one point, two Finns were in the penalty box. In reality, the other Finn's penalty had just ended - a second before - (or so it seemed at least) when Russia scored. However, the time-recording system was altered to show the goal to have happened a second earlier than it actually did, to make it seem as if neither one of the penalties was yet over, one having 41 seconds left and the other having exactly one second left. Because of the Russian goal, the Finn with one second of penalty left was now released from the penalty box. However, the other Finn still had to stay in the penalty box, whereas with fair play HE should now have been released.
Well we might have lost the game even without the penalties, we did have the worst team in the WC for many years and that showed especially in the first games. However it is a shame that the referees had to make the game one big joke since game was very good and exciting before that. If something I didn't like from team Russia was that they did have quite a lot of acting in the game. Oveckin in the corner and then there was this hilarious incident when at the face off one Russian player got tickled by the stick on the face a little bit and he made such a show on this. Also the Russian people attitude here is just awful. Just could admit that some penalties came quite easily. Finland got one power-play which I wasn't quite sure where it came from.
Cheating in sports is never okay. Theres not much we can do against Russians, they have big history in lying and cheating. Respect to Finland from Estonia!
Russia had the most skilled team in the whole tournament, no disputing that. BUT at the same time, Finland had a slight overall control of the game every time they were playing with 5 vs 5 and judging from several viewpoints, it is probable that had the referees have done their work even decently, the Finns would've taken the gold medal. The acts of some of the players and the head coach of team Russia were shameful and that way on par with their other teammates, the referees.
I didn't see anything wrong with the second hit. What seems to be the problem? But yeah, the rest were a joke. I never liked these tournaments, they always seem like they are arranged by a bunch of amateurs.

What a fucking nightmare game by refs.. Today Finland-Russia the refs were bribed by Russia once again and Russia still lost the game, way to go Finland.. You beat 2 opponents in a single game, you've deserved to play in the finals tomorrow.
Yes uploader, you forgot the very first penalty which led to the 1-0 goal. There was absolutely no physical contact. Since when have referees started to ASSUME that theres a penalty when a player falls down?? Without seeing the actual offence. These referees MUST have been bribed, professional referees can NOT ASSUME theres foul play when a player falls/dives and shouts afterwards. COME ON, everyone else besides those who watched the game through Russian glasses suspected of something sketchy being going on. And probably a good part of Russians suspected of that too, but then again things like fair play and honoring the opponent aren't respected values in the east. I think it kind of takes the glory away from winning, also it makes the loss less bitter for a Finn since the whole thing was just a circus and the games were played in the cabinet, between Putin and the iihf officials. Or who paid to whom I don't know, but anyway...
Well if U have any vision left, it's obvious what happened. I read some comments, but wont start an endless argument. The only thing that I have to say is, that Tournaments like Olympics or world championships need NHL referees.
3:40 Immonen DID get out of the penalty box one second after the game had started. It was 5on3 before that so the remaining penalty was not Immonen's. You would have known that if you watched the game and not just CZcams clips.

We live in year 2014 and every situation is filmed from seven different angles. Could someone please elaborate to me, why there is not a "video referee" which could immediately watch all these actions from video and announce to the referees that a great mistake has been made. Perhaps then we would not be so pissed about the dickhead russian players and poor referees
Foldgap No no no... It's the same game, hadn't realized that they changed their shirts but definitely the same game. :) I could be like that both teams get to be the "home"team, maybe?

Given that 80% of Russian's goals were on power play, the questioning over the referees' actions are justifiable... That first clip speaks for itself. It's quite clear that Malkin raised his hands towards his head intentionally. He knew that he could do it and get away with it.

This is actually a compilation of two different matches. The Jormakka tackle was from an earlier game, but in the same tournament.
Very impressive win in 2019 by SUOMI vs Russia semi 1:0 and Canada in final 3:1. Way to go!
Finland should have won!! No cheating Russia
There was also 2 other penalties that you could add to this video
What a fucking nightmare game by refs.. Today Finland-Russia the refs were bribed by Russia once again and Russia still lost the game, way to go Finland.. You beat 2 opponents in a single game, you've deserved to play in the finals tomorrow.
why russia in general is even involved in games?
And to add to that at least we beat Russian A-team when we had A-team too, luckily enough the referee game was at adequate level in the Olympics.
Well if U have any vision left, it's obvious what happened. I read some comments, but wont start an endless argument. The only thing that I have to say is, that Tournaments like Olympics or world championships need NHL referees.
amen brother
I agree
true
The referees didn't really give a chance for Finland but I could also said that it was kind of expected...
3:40 Immonen DID get out of the penalty box one second after the game had started. It was 5on3 before that so the remaining penalty was not Immonen's. You would have known that if you watched the game and not just CZcams clips.
Also there are clips of Finland Russia group stage game, nice shots on crybaby Fins though
According to IIHF game report
Penalty 33:37 35:36 FIN 2 min. 26 IMMONEN J - Cross-Checking
Penalty 34:18 36:18 FIN 2 min. 27 KONTIOLA P - Hooking
Goal 35:36 3 : 2 RUS PP2 11 MALKIN Y (2) 25 ZARIPOV D On Ice
RUS 72 8 10 11 16 25 *
FIN 35 5 6 21
Yeah but those reports were changed during commercial break.
Great video! Russia just cant take it, that they are playing hockey on a lower lvl than the finns.
The whole championship was ABSOLUTELY TRAGIC from the referee standpoint. It's not just this match, the whole tournament was a joke.
Last WC games for me. Thank-you.
xD kumpikaa näistä hermanneista... XD mun nimi on hermanni :D
The second injury is not from the finals. You can see the jerseys don't match.
Thanks from Finland.
Finland and Sweden should withdraw from this shitty competition. This is not ice hockey.
OMDAYS IM GETTONG SO MAD AT RUSSIA OM! Why are they even alowed to play international?
This game was the biggest scandal ever in international hockey, this will always be remembered.
it’s been 4 years and i still can’t watch this
Well i know now how they got their all gold now
i tought i was watching hockey but russians diving like neymar on the football field. all that combined with blind referees... ridiculous
On behalf of American Hockey fans, I am EMBARASSED at Keith Laval's involvement in the officiating of this game.
Why the clothes of the two teams is different from 2:00 to the end? Is it the same match?
It was different match when SHIPACHYOV hits Jormakka directly to the head and he didn't get penalty...
sorry for bad english
Foldgap No no no... It's the same game, hadn't realized that they changed their shirts but definitely the same game. :) I could be like that both teams get to be the "home"team, maybe?
TheSaksutin That was not the same game! Russia never had 2-1 moment and they did not change their clothes... Toi on siitä ensimmäisestä FIN-RUS pelistä.
TheSaksutin The very first incident Finland is wearing blue, 2nd incident they wear white, then it's back to blue again... 2 different games indeed.
Anyway fuck Russia, they can't do anything legit and as i always say. I'm not a racist with an exception for the russians.
Damn, I got confused, sry!
Have You ever seen honest Russian?
Well, me ain't either.
Wow, another anti-Russian propaganda.
that first hit was like " let's break haula's jaw"
penalty: NONE
Given that 80% of Russian's goals were on power play, the questioning over the referees' actions are justifiable... That first clip speaks for itself. It's quite clear that Malkin raised his hands towards his head intentionally. He knew that he could do it and get away with it.
Wait...both teams changed jersey colors after each interval?
