  • A brief history of Bulwell Bogs.
    This is the first time I've tried anything like this before, so apologies for any amateurishness about it. I've learnt a lot whilst compiling this.
    If reaction is good, there will be another Bulwell video over the next few months.

    another great work Paul, thanks for including the poem-important to save the accents which increasingly become milder with time

      Ditto, lived in Bulwell until I was 20, and worked there until I was nearly 50. It doesn't deserve the stick it gets !

    I’ve lost count of the number of time I’ve fell in the river there, and the boating pool as well. It was usually a Sunday on the way back from Sunday school by the fire station.

    I think it's very good what your doing here,not enough is emphasized of Nottinghamshire whereabouts,you wouldn't happen to have anything going Beeston area by any chance,thanks Bob

    • @paulturton9755
      @paulturton9755  Před 4 lety

      Nothing on Beeston at the moment, but that doesn't mean that there wont be in the future. Bulwell is where I grew up, but there's only so much you can do on Bulwell, so I've done a range of videos just about Nottingham... eventually I'll move on to other areas given time.

    Would I be correct saying that there was a scrapyard where the children’s play park is now, that I believe was in the early sixties, possibly called Henderson’s ?

    • @paulturton9755
      @paulturton9755  Před 3 lety

      That's correct. It's also shown in the film The Ragmans Daughter

    Is the Richard Sankey plant pot factory still in existence Paul

    • @paulturton9755
      @paulturton9755  Před 4 lety

      The original one burnt to the ground in 1980 (there's a housing estate there now). The one which ran from 1980-2016 on the Blenheim Industrial Estate is now used by UK Mail. Richard Sankey & Son Ltd sadly no longer exists, and Sankey is just a trade name

    Have you seen the state of the bogs now. Last time I took a walk down there knots of rats were in and out of the bins. It was never like that in the 70’s and 80’s Nottingham city council hang your heads in shame
