    Too bad the water is still very wild, even in a pont.. I wished they added like small water, between your houses and stuff. To make it more pretty. Sadly this new game basicaly adds nicer roads and buildings. Some other stuff even got worse by the looks of it. Like stupid terrainforming when you build a house. I wish they learned from the last game. Lot of stuff is still missing to make cities super cool. So once again you will probably need tons of mods and assets and with the current state that will probably ruin your game.

    Can you make a water source that starts up high and flows downhill? Like a mountain lake with a river to the ocean? Or if I wanted to start a river from off map? (Id like to make a Hoover Dam map)

    Nice but how do you remove water. I raised land over a nice section of water and most of it disappeared, however I ended up seeing some light puddles and tried to remove them. The next thing that happened is lots of water just started gushing out again. I tried to raise even higher and ended up having the same problem. Can't you remove an ocean area even if it is complety blocked off.

    This is most frustrating tool in the game, should be much simpler to cut away land.

    the problem with making lakes using canals is that you cannot have lakes on higher altitudes. I was kind of bummed the game released without a map editor, and the terraforming tools are as basic as CS1 vanilla on release... Hopefully when we get the editor, these things can be overcome.

    • @Skibitth
      @Skibitth  Před 9 měsíci

      Very true. This is just a workaround until we get it. And yes, lakes at higher altitude is not possible unless you have a river running from the top. I saw maps like that

      It released with everything just a bit hidden, there's dev mode to allow you to do everything you talking about , there's also asset editor in game as well but not fully functional .

    It's kinda of a shame that they released the game like that, the terraforming tools is so simple and lack so much things that could potentially help players and even the map makers in the future, I had HIGH hopes that Cites Skylines 2 could do it right, like the Terraforming tool have more than one terrain to use, right now the game doesn't matter anything, American or European maps doesn't change anything, it's just a way to get themes of buildings, and this is it ..but the the huge potential ruined, they could have done something so much better, I think the map creation, select a map, should be something way more important, and it should never take few seconds or minutes for people to decide what map to play, because the game has not much option, like I dreamed about a mechanic for map creation, you could select a real location of our world, the information could be essential to generate a map, like the terrain, rivers, minerals, plants, all the green environment, and biomes of that area, it seems difficult and overkill for you but the idea is that you should have way more options in the beginning, like the terraforming tool, it has that brush mode, couldn't it be more nicer if there was like advanced tools for terrain modifications, like a zone mode for big flat areas so you can freely do things that on brush mode is difficult, also a line tool so you can easily do preparations for roads, it can work just like the road mechanic, but instead you can use in terrain, you can get more precise elevation, and beautify the projects even more, this is a tool for construction necessities, now let's go to something that Cites Skylines 2 failed, there's no rivers tool on release, wow I'm shocked, but I'm not talking about the outdated tools from CS1, but for that to be possible, the developers should have made in the base game something that CS doesn't even care, they wanted to do realism, simulation and disasters and didn't do something important for the immersion for a city builder game, like the terrain is dead dead, nothing interesting happening, I thought we could have Erosion in the game, why is this important? Well, the rain doesn't do anything, is more annoying than a beautiful aspect of the game, we all know, rain doesn't affect anything, and it could be so cool if the game had erosion simulation, a disaster that happens because of the rain, the water flowing from mountains have to go somewhere, and where it goes, it could make erosions, and simple things like roads getting damaged, rail tracks blocked by landslides, even tunnels collapsing, this types of disasters could be a good thing for the game because nothing happens, you will never find a problem that could eventually happen and screw up your work, like, even the disasters are just a joke in the game, the tornados are ugly, the water effects are lame, the inundation doesn't affect anything, cars keep driving like nothing is happening, even pedestrian people will act like everything is fine, we all know how bad It is when a dam collapses, or a thunderstorm makes some inundation and destroy people's houses, cars, trees fall, weak houses get swallowed, but a event like that in CS2 nothing matters, that could be a opportunity to simulate natural disasters like no other game have done, now back to terraforming tools, I had a idea to make it more complete, like why there's no tool for rock formations? I know, CS1 had props for rocks, this is not what I'm thinking, something more innovate, the same way you can rise terrain should be the same for rock formations, why it could be important? Mountains! More ways to make high elevations of terrain more realistic, example, Workers and Resources Soviet Republic does something interesting with that, so I think we should be able to do that, even the code for terrain should have layers of terrain based on real world, more higher more minerals, and more variation of terrain soil, also the river tool, could work with a mechanic like erosion, and you can control the strength of it, and smooth, and now something important, to get water, the terrain should have natural underground water, what I think is that it should be more realistic based on the temperature of the terrain, like in real life we can see stats for water or heat of the ground, it affects how farms efficiency, water resources etc, now it could be easy to have a natural water flowing to make natural rivers by exposing these deeper water resources, the river tool working like erosion and naturally cracking in the ground could be nice, normally few rivers start like that, the violent flow of waters though years make this natural changes, it should be easier to make rivers, or artificial canals, also I wished in this tool for terraforming there could be more structures for more canals for all the utilities, can we do more realistic canals from American cities? Pls! Even more different quay walls, Jesus, why it's so limited, I don't lie when they have to relay on modders to do everything, most of the missing things on CS2 will have to be added by mods?! This is a shame, the devs didn't do their homework, there's a person to gather all the community ideas, what happened? 🤔 I'm concerned, this is one of the reasons for the lack of content, you can play CS2, enjoy the gameplay and whatever, but at some point you will get bored, there's not many maps, you can't do one yourself, no mods ofc, the game lacks content, soon enough people will get bored, the longer it gets, worse it is for people waiting, and long is my text, holy shit I exaggerated, sorry everybody, isn't supposed to be a essay, but there's no way to talk about it with enough information 😳

    The water physics ruined the game for me, cities are flooding due to adding a seaway. It doesn’t matter what I do the water level stays the same. The water physics in CS1 were better. You would expect the water level to drop if you widen a river or stop the water flow. You would expect the water currents to slow or speed up depending on width of the river but none of these logical steps are anywhere to be found in this game.

      @@urstaxfetish1206 lol. At a point I think we all are asking for too much from a game. If this game would be 1to1 with real life stuff then no one will be able to play it because it would be too much to read, to understand the game, how it works, and so on. Look at how we plant trees now and how long it takes to them to become adult trees. It's around 6to 10h in real life and almost 6to12 Months in game and many are complaining (including me), but after all it should take even longer, right? The same with the water... it is impossible to satisfy everyone so better satisfy the majority :) That's what I would also do. I have lots and lots of complaints about this game too....but it is what it is

      @@Skibitth what are you talking about CS1 water evaporates.. I am just asking for the functional water physics that they have already produced.
      Just like how almost everything they added in CS2 road tools are things that already existed in Cities in Motion 2.
      They are not remaking the wheel these are all features they have implemented in the past.
