Cleaning a pool pump basket takes a little longer than cleaning a skimmer basket. This maintenance task will help to keep your pump running smoothly and your pool water clear.
Backwashing is only required for sand/DE filters (from my understanding). I have a cartridge filter, so I just clean or replace the filter. Check out my channel, Pool Care Share, for videos on how to do these (and other) pool maintenance tasks.
I turn the pool pump to off and I open the air pressure release valve. It’s not necessary, but you could also turn off the power to the pool pump at the main breaker while doing this. Just make sure the air pressure release valve is open when you turn it back on.
Tip: Open the air pressure release valve right after turning off the power at the beginning of this process.
Always clean debris on the wall in the strainer basket so all that little bit debris doesn’t clog up the impeller
Can you show us how to do a backwash and a rinse thank you.

The pump is above the water level of the pool. If the pump wasn’t above, the water level, the world will be gushing out.
I have this issue with water gushing out. What do I close? How to handle?
@@joeewing7277I would contact an experienced local pool company to come and take a look.
Did you turn off any valves to stop the water prior to doing this?
