    A video going over how to try and salvage the 1.163 Sevastopol. Intended for early / start campaign refit, this is by no means a "Best" Refit or anything of the sort, but rather a way to bring Sevastopol to a not-painful pedigree without changing her too significantly. Later on the opposite end of the spectrum is shown: A full rebuild of a sort.

    The best thing about the ship is the potential, you can cannibalize it into a tanker, missile carrier, brawler, or sensor ship. You get about 20 hours on your first day to refit other ships using parts from the sevest

    Really wanted to see your Seva version and got it. Fascinating how our approached differed. Here's list of what i did:
    -Fit +2 LStationary thrusters next to existing front and back one
    -removed evac pods, all small thrusters
    -replaced 57mm with 37mm, took off 2
    -moved exposed ammo between tanks and next to tank closest to nose
    -placed sensors properly and removed redundant ones
    -squalls got 270° clearance by elevating them and delevating thrusters, engines
    -added 2 strategic missiles instead of zenith rack and 2 sprints(angled them)
    -mostly same armor scheme(1 layer) + closed weak spots without making it heavy
    -made all generators 2x2 and all crewQ 2x1
    STATS: 35750kg, 5719km 109kph 1888t/1000km 170250Gold
    ARMAMENTS: 2squall, 8x37mm, 4xKH-15, 14sprint

      I wasn't concerning myself with Elevation since its disabled in 1.163 and was focusing more on just a quick patch so you can do this at the start of the campaign without editing the flagship. Lots of these are pretty viable changes, p sure I reccomended sensor changes / Zenith capping / fully making crew/pwr efficient. I just didn't demonstrate because it was more to the degree of unecessary
      The final rebuild with some double layer armour was more optimized, but I still wanted to keep it looking like Seva (Little to no external form changes, Zenith retained, fuel tanks retained, etc). Your rebuild sounds quite valid.

    I replace the bottom engines with the large static engines and uparmor them, they have much better fuel efficiency and won't get hit if you are at a slight angle above the enemy. I think fuel efficency is a bit of an issue in your version.
    I also like to replace zeniths with cruise missles.
    For the main mast i like the keep the big radar becasue it's cool but i move both large elints and tracking radar to the main mast and adjust the shape slightly. Also scrap IrisT, i hate this useless piece of crap.
    Aside from that my vanilla style refit is similiar to yours.

      IRST is objectively more important than search radar. Hell, Search Radar is a handicap while IRST is tied with FCR in sensor usability. It's your only tool in ambush to get your timing right
      Large engines wouldn't fit the hullform I was going for without taking out fuel tanks. Otherwise I'd agree somewhat, sticking to cutting them out on the far right side ofc, otherwise even armoured the holes are a pain in the ass
      capping and decomissioning the Zeniths is still pretty viable as always. Hell you can cap the strat missiles if you want to minmax. I'm more trying to "Preserve" seva while making her useable is my thing.

      ​@@clankplusm I agree that search radar is not very usefull but those whole ambushing business is a waste of time imho unless you are doing a super handicapped playtrough.
      Yes the big engines give it a bit of a beer belly so you are right, if you want to maintain the hull form your version is better.

      @@clankplusm I did Sevastopol only with limited rebuild (hard mode, defult corsshair) and i end up killing half of the strike groups early on at like 10% and earned alot of cash. There is not even a need for palashes. To be honest only way to make this game fun for the whole duration of the campaign would be spawning aditional 5 strike groups or so when you reach about 50%, usually between 50-60% all of the strike groups are dead if not earlier. Aside from that AI and strike groups ships need to be beefed up.
      Ofcourse you can play without any modifications to the ships which makes the game harder indeed but this goes against the spirit of the game which encourages tinkering.

      Palash was to make the economics work for endgame, wanted excess cash for LG and a second line of defence so if nuked she could still handle a SG with ease.
      I tried short crosshair in the finale of 1.15 sev (UMG still hasn't released the claim, fuckers) and saw absolutely no affect on my aim. I already put my eyes on the individual gun indicators often to track when the guns are in battery, so it really didn't change much for me. If anything, aiming improved a bit.

      My bad, I’ll get on reuploading it to a pinned comment under the video I made testing it. Check in an hour. (I don’t have a design for the light rebuild, this video is more conceptual in that regard) I think I might make a second video with additional improvements that I didn’t do simply because of thematics (for example, converting the missile launch tubes to a upwards facing RD51, and then stuffing the missiles elsewhere inside the ship)

      Put them in for thematics. They are thought to affect XP gain from battles, and that's about it.

    Hey. Came here from your Steam review - nice write up. I've never played this, so would you recommend I go with 1.15 or later
    as a hot copy entry to see if I can get into this game? I just hate updates that undo the good - pure evil :)))

      I think if you're a new player, either or has it's merit, but if you're interested in the community as a whole, 1.163 is your best bet as like 95% of us have moved on from the gripes and play 1.163. Besides, the visuals are plain better and the gameplay isn't like, destroyed, just mildly inferior.

      @@clankplusm Thanks for that - makes sense. As it turned out, the choice was made for me as 1.16 crashed and burned. Then 1.15 ran no problem with only me crashing and burning in the tutorial... badly. So I'm off to find some guides as this game has some addictiveness to it!

      @@JohnDoe-qr2cp go look for caracal's videos on CZcams. He has good entry level stuff. I have a shipbuilding and missile guide that might be worth looking into, but they assume you've gotten past the beginner phase. The missile guide *Should* be understandable to a newbie however, if not it should be apparent what parts you're missing to go do some looking-up.

    i just use custom ships. Sevastopol is a bad design and its annoying to build in campaign
