I am a lefty beginner, and from the very first game I played, I saw that there was a problem. I just had no idea what the right solution is. Do I learn to shift my paddle to my right hand (unlikely to work well)? Do I position myself differently in the court (tried that - kind of backfired)? I just had no idea.
This past weekend, we went to a tournament, and saw them doing it (still didn't know what it was called), and it was obvious that this is how the pros deal with the problem. Which is interesting - still doesn't help me all that much, since I still play with lots of beginners, and most other people there don't know how to stack, and the way our place is set up, each game we get a different partner.
So in a sense this helps in that I don't need to waste time wondering any more, but doesn't help in that I will continue to get my ass kicked until I can move up to a level where most people know how to stack. I guess in the shorter term, I need to work on my backhand, as that doesn't require cooperation from my partner.

No, but it's def an advantage for lefty / righty team... Or mixed team with the righty female to stay on the right side the entire time so the male can take the middle with his forehand.

Is he really a 4.5 player and did he really play in 5.0 tournaments? I think that is a bit of a stretch. Just say'n.
