A tremendous, detailed review for which I am appreciative. I particularly found helpful that Rob explained how this watch fit in with Seiko's other 62MAS reissues, such as the SLA017 and the larger 62MAS watches that were issued about the same time as the SLA017. One can get lost in Seiko's issues and reissues, and it really helps to have the watch under review placed in context. Great micro shots too.

I was checking the longines spirit series. I visited A.D. stores to several times to try them IRL. They are very nice watches but I could not convice myself. They were little too big, they were little too pricy. I was looking for a neither a Seiko, nor a diver watch, because I have overwhelming amounts of those watches. Then I saw spb147 in the same A.D. and I was stunned. Price was almost half of the spirit and the dial was extraordinary. Simple yet elegant. I dont like gold color in general and I dont like brownish bezels. But this combination was something else. Now, for a month, I am a proud owner of Sbp147 and I really love the watch. I suggest you to visit an A.D. before making any watch purchase decision. Even photos of spb147 is great, in real life it looks like a jewel more than a watch.

I have this model. Love the colors on this one. Out of the box downside, was running at least -30 secs per day. I remedied that by adjusting regulation myself. Now running +1 to +5 secs per day, depending on wrist activity.
Regarding date window, would have aided overall dial symmetry by having a matching gold frame around.
Would have liked a matching bracelet option, even though style wears best on stock rubber strap. As such, it sucks to pay around $290 to get oem bracelet post purchase... and they area little hard to find. It does wear pretty good on a mesh bracelet I have already.
As a whole, these new 62mas style watches are essentially Seiko's BB58.

This is a great watch - no question about it. The problem is the movement which is not regulated and you can get anything ranging from quite accurate to a near-disaster. Seiko has a problem in the mid range segment where price wise they start to compete with e.g. Certina but movement wise are nowhere near it. In a watch that costs as much as this one I would expect something better. Thanks for the video!

Why is the bezel wider, losing that elegant slimness, with the cyclopean lume pip that stands out because of the lack of a triangle? Most of all, where's the beautiful box crystal?? Beautifully done homage to '60s divers in general, but, they bled it of everything that made the 62MAS so great.

I'm not sure what to think about this. It's a very nice watch, but if you want a Tudor, get a Tudor.
I agree, this looks amazing, but I feel like it's purely an homage design. For a grand, I would have expected a bracelet option. The rubber is fine for dirty work, but it always pulls on my arm hair, which makess rubber straps a real PITA..for me. Natos all day..heck, I think this could even...dare I say... rock a leather band option.
The one disappointment that caught my eye was the buff line was not as crisp as it could be and I could have sworn the buff line was below the break.
When you breach the $1000 level, Christopher Ward does a stellar job with their finishing and for a very similar price, there's probably a watch in their lineup that has a more unique character that is its own.

Seems like an arbitrary price range. Why not frame it as 1-2k, and 2-3k? don’t think people are going to compare a Tudor to this, which is literally 3x the price. Would you compare a Nomos to a JLC? That’s what 3X difference looks like.

BB are nice watches, I have 3 (used to have 4) and like them, but this Seiko gets more wrist time/love then all of them combined. Many people prefer the BB simply b/c of the name.

Check out this Orient RN-AC0K03L. It's so beautiful in person. It's everything the SKX should have been.

Is that blue lume or did it just look bluer than the usual Lumibrite in this video? I was seriously eyeballing the Ginault Ocean Rover 2, but I'm thinking this is going to have to be my next one.
