  • This week's featured tree species is the American Basswood or also known as the American Linden tree. I love putting some of this wood species on my sawmill any chance I get. It is a great wood for wood carving and it cuts really easy. Drying time is quick as well. What else could a wood guy ask for?

My Father-in-law had a couple of basswood logs that he saved for me. I was wanting to get into chainsaw carving, and somebody had told me that basswood was the preferred wood for that. I never did get around to carving them up because I didn't have a saw that was small enough to do it correctly, but I wish I would have. Good video Tim!

Oh I bet it would have been great for chainsaw carving. Thanks for stopping in Jeff!
