  • One of the most fun things to do during the colder winter months is adding new mods to your dual sport or adventure motorcycle. I just got three awesome new Kawasaki KLR 650 upgrades, and I'm stoked to get them on the bike!
First up, the 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650 center stand from Happy Trails moto. This adjustable KLR 650 center stand is incredibly easy to install and works really well with the bike. Installing the KLR center stand took no more than 15 minutes and was as easy and removing and replacing four bolts on the footpeg mounts.
Next up is the 2022 Kawasaki KLR 650 windscreen risers from our friends at 3D Cycle Parts. These KLR windscreen risers move the windscreen up and also change the angle so that the rider gets a lot better protection than with the stock windshield on the KLR.
Finally, a must have accessory for any bike that gets ridden for many highway miles, the Atlas Throttle Lock. The Atlas Throttle Lock install was a quick and easy process, and I'm very stoked o have it on my Kawasaki KLR 650. This physical throttle lock holds your throttle tube in place so you can maintain speed on the highway, but doesn't impede your ability to reduce speed or decelerate when you need to.

I would want some sort of sliding mount for the windshield, for easy adjustment up and down. Those Atlas throttle locks are an amazing product, I used one of my T7.

I'm pretty sure there are other companies that make something similar that is also adjustable. I'm pretty happy with where these are, though.

Hey Ian, I make a set of billet aluminum adjustable pitch windscreen risers for the 2022 KLR650. Here a couple links to some first customer review posts on FB. I may soon develop a quick up/down bracket system to tuck it out of the way for off-road riding.

I don't have a KLR yet but love watching all of your upgrade videos. The center stand setup is slick, very easy to install and you didn't seem to struggle at all raising it up. Waiting to see your experience with the windshield brackets. I imagine they are less money than a Madstad setup. Got to like how easy the throttle lock went. Wish more products were as easy to install.

Hoping someone will come up with a better mount solution. I like the 3D concept but my ideal position is about halfway between stock and where they are.

Finally found a non ABS model for $7500 out the door. Still too much, but the best deal I could find. Just ordered the 3D Cycle Parts windshield screen riser since I am 6'2".

Hi Dork, I had a problem with the Atlas Throttle lock. It would not grip the throttle tube. I tried squeezing the lower loop as hard as I could but even at full travel the throttle lock would not grip the tube tight enough. I used a pare of channel locks and I bent the lower loop, so I can't send it back. This is the second time I have had a problem with your endorsed products, so I am not going to link to anymore of your endorsements. I going to keep watching your channel but when I want to order something I will go elsewhere. I just noticed that your link to Happy Trails is still up, I asked that you take it down because the center stand is back ordered and the costumer is not aware of the inventory issue until funds have been issued and then a day after Happy Trails informs the customer of a back order and 6 to 7 weeks delay. Please take the Happy Trails link down.

Yeah dude I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with a couple things but I'm not going to take down links to products and companies that I know are quality because of one person's bad experience. I've personally had nothing but positive interactions with both companies and I'm impressed with the products I've personally used.
Have you asked Happy Trails if they'd cancel your order and refund you? Did you follow the instructions for the Atlas installation? Pretty sure they explicitly state that you're supposed to tighten it down by hand. Have you asked Atlas about a replacement part?
I'm genuinely sorry to hear these products aren't working out for you, but you're the first person to complain and I've made many referral sales for both companies. I can only recommend things based on my own experience and my experience has been nothing but positive. I understand if you no longer wish to trust my recommendations. That's your call.

Dear Mr. Dork: while these are cool mods, I notice the interest seems to be in making KLRs into Road Kings or something, my interest is in parts which will make my KLR into a relatively indestructable beast which will go places you didn’t think your KLR would go. KLX300 for the few places that KLR can’t go. So...how about an episode on what you could do to your KLR to make you confident to take it on your next BDR and leave the rest of those bikes at home. Thanks, and I am torn between calling you Mister Dork or Mister DIRT.

Tons of crash bars and stuff available now but there weren't when I made this video. Sadly I no longer have a KLR so no more videos on that one.

Upgrade, and purchase more gear. Then sell and get another bike and start all over.

Why, why, why would you put a center stand on a KLR that’s already too heavy for its power. Makes no sense to me!

If you don’t pay for the parts, all you are is a shill for those companies

Or, you know, maybe it's my job to share products that I think other people might be interested in so they can find out stuff without spending their own money first?

check out Cody Stevens windscreen riser on Facebook. It allows you to adjust the angle of the windscreen while on the go... Very cool

If you are going to use the tusk hard mount conversion with the center stand do you need to use the tusk conversion kit cuz it seems like you don't.
