    Yummy! This recipe looks so quick, easy, and delicious! I canned a bunch of pickled jalapenos last fall using the pickling lime soak to keep them firm even after hot water processing. They turned out really good, but it was a quite a bit of time with all the soaking and rinsing. I like the idea of skipping some steps with some of our harvest, and keeping a few jars of crunchy jalapenos in the fridge. We've got 20 hot pepper plants of different varieties this year, so I'm probably going to need a few different ideas of how to preserve them all. Thank you!

    Great video. Although you do not actually need a pressure canner to can that jar. Keep the jar rim clean use blazing hot brine head space the jar and close the lid. Then jusy flip it upside down for 5 min the back over. Cover it in a blanket and leave to sit until cooled and the lid will seal. Then you can remove the ring and store it :)

      I don’t have a certification for canning so I don’t give canning advice, but that doesn’t sound like proper canning procedure at all. Please always follow proper canning instructions from a certified canning expert to represent botulism which can be deadly.

      @@Thestayathomechef It is open kettle and safe for pickles, especially for those with such a heavy vinegar content, provided lid and jar are sterile. You could also boiling water bath them for 15 minutes instead.

    I tried your recipe but the garlic turned into bluish/greenish color. This happened with your pickle as well?

    • @Thestayathomechef
      @Thestayathomechef  Před 2 lety +1

      It is caused by a reaction between enzymes and sulfur-containing amino acids in the garlic (the same enzymes are responsible for garlic's flavor). It’s safe to eat, but it is unpredictable as to when this occurs. However, it occurs more often in older garlic so using fresh garlic is your best bet.

My husband and I split most of the household tasks and children things equally. I cook a lot because this is my job, but my husband also knows how to cook and does on a regular basis. Sounds like you are more interested in having someone do everything for you. You wouldn't like me at all.

      No but on serious note, the lady of the house should cook and clean the house. The man should take the car to the car wash and make sure the gardener is doing a good job. I mean how much do you expect a man to do? It's how nature has made us. Do you watch doccies on lions? What is the main role of the lion(male). The seed the females and protect his harem. The lionesses(females) do the hunting. The male gets to eat first. The lionesses look after the cubs. The male goes around marking his terretory. This is the best example. All real men should learn a lesson from this unless you prefer to be a hyena.😆 whats your take on it?

    • @Thestayathomechef
      @Thestayathomechef  Před 6 lety +18

      My take is that you seem to prefer the repressed era of the 1950s US housewife, or perhaps you prefer how women are treated in Iran. I have no interest in associating with men who insist on holding women back in life. I pity you and moreso pity any woman who had contact with you in life. Go watch Handsmaids Tale. You apparently side with the cult, but perhaps it’ll give you a better look at how insane and repulsive your views on women are.
