It would have been a shock if when the light came back they were surrounded by the things from the movie The Descent. LOL

I got into exploring abandoned mines when I moved to Wales, the place is littered with them. It's an amazing but dangerous way of exploring the history of a place.

Aren't there some up Snowdon that are accessible and somewhat safer to explore ?

@@medic-iw6qx I think there are some that are commercialised in the north. Some are maintained locally by volunteers, the ones I have been inside have been mainly in the south of Snowdonia. They have all been blocked off but someone has cut holes in the barriers, like you see in this video. The one that has amazed me the most was Foel Grochan slate mine, which has enormous ladders inside and most of the old workings like cranes and carts. Obviously despite maintenance, they can still be extremely dangerous, I have seen drops of over 100 feet that have no barriers.

Nothing can come close to mines for me so I can relate to this but a couple more common dangers are different bacterial infections if someone's gets injured down there & various different mineral related illnesses

When you consider the state of some of these mines, yes it's extreme. Some can have things called false floors, which can leave you plummeting hundreds of feet to your death. Stick to the MTB.
