I love the creeper world series. I'm so glad to see you enjoy it.
I'm a much more conservative player. I'll pick out a spot near resources if possible, make a single ERN mine, space out 6 towers in a 3x2 grid, build a TERP with ERN, build a height 20 wall around the soylent fields made by the towers, place a couple cannons, 3-5 mortars behind the wall (their fire lets the TERP finish the wall), and an ERN sniper to keep the eggs, slugs, and gliders at bay. Once the wall is built up enough, I put power up there with a pylon, move the sniper up there, and gradually increase the outer edge until I can move the HQ up there. Then it's a matter of filling in the hole to make a 20-tall plateau, and push-build-push-build to extend it. Usually works pretty well, though there are a few where I have to chuck the idea and just go energy, cannons, and snipers for the first push.
I just watched an hour and 40 minutes of a game Ive never watched before and loved it.

Stashes do not deplete slowly, they will deploy all creeper stored if they are not constantly receiving more creeper.
Also, Creeper World 5 seems to be closer to what you think would be awesome. Granted it isn't out yet, but it seems to be planned to be more of a Creeper World 2 style of game.

Always a bit painful to see to push with cannons when mortars are very nice for the large wawes and more effective.
Have played in a while but I do remember that

Mortar can shoot farther away (eggplosions) and then the cannon can clean up

You must play the game modes of the community like FPS, cursor or LPAC modes, are much fun that playing the vanilla mode
challenge idea: terraform the entire world down to level 1. you must terraform at least 1 patch of land down every 5 minutes
With that many redon you need to using shield and rift more, that will make defend and expanding a lot easier
You can also make some sprayer suck in anti creep to move them to the frontline

The problem with that strategy is the massive amount of time it would take. Otherwise it functions perfectly fine

I always enjoy majorly adjusting the terrain as I play this to give me height advantage, and to slowly turn the map into something man-made looking. Nice and square, sometimes with built in channels to make the creep want to go for the low ground where it can be taken care of more easily, etc. But I would generally gain a foothold, build a platform, enforce the platform, and then slowly build the platform further out, adding turrets as I went.
seem like the creeper should be able to send in re-reinforcement if there losing. Maybe a rift in space or bombardment from space. Would make logic sense that they would send in reinforcement as it not mindless as a sentient is controlling the creep. Maybe creeper ships as it would make you use anti air more.
that would be a pretty decent challenge. maybe it exists in the custom maps

With enough practice it's pretty zen. Most of the time.
The second you escape the set up phase you have essentially won. The rest of the level is just some nice relaxing annexation
