- In this video, Dr Mike explains how your liver, muscle, and fat cells respond when you haven't eaten for many hours. Examples of this include, fasting overnight and skipping meals.
This is also known as the post-absorptive state. During this state your body relies on stored glycogen and other sources for energy.
Makes things so easy to understand. Shows his mastery of the subject.
Another masterpiece ! Too good, you are awesome, thank you so much
very interesting, thanks for the clear and simple (yet not boring) explanation
This is one of the most explaining video you can find oj youtube!!! very congrats for your clarity… i love your way of explaining concepts!! 👏👏👏
But i would still have a question: can ketones be utilised by muscle for anaerobic activity?? and how can we fuel our anaerobic activity in an effective way is we’re following a low carb diet?
Great video, I like your exposition style. One thing you haven't mentioned is the speed at which proteolysis and lipolysis happen.
I assume the latter tends to happen preferentially, since the body probably doesn't want to destroy muscle tissue for energy unless absolutely necessary?
Just found this channel I love you!
Complicated but you make it so clear to understand ..
thanks
Awesome vid! Thanks Dr Mike!
Your videos are soo helpful!!
Brilliant! Thank you!
Thanks, Dr. Mike
Please do a video on time restricted eating such as 20:4 or OMAD and the optimal macros for protein growth without causing cellular aging through an over activation ation of mTor.
Also I wonder if the recommended grams of protein per kg are target weight or current for those underweight?
I also wonder if you could do a breakdown of common blood markers and how to understand them e.g. blood urea etc.
Very interesting thank you
Very nice 👍…. Can do a video about ATP how they become energy ? Why phosphate is important in activating enzymes etc… thanks 🙏
great job. thanks doc
Wow 😯 doc, you make it easy to understand. 👍 🇬🇧🙏
Dr Mike, your lecture is clear, precise and most importantly it is comprehended due to the way you articulate your presentation. Australian Universities should be presenting you positions in teaching and learning because I can tell you, things at universities are being questioning about competency in their delivery of content.
Its a 10 from me.
P.S. the only thing that may need some attention is your hair style.
Didn’t even started and already like it, thanks for the content !!!🐐🐐
Your videos are great man! Tried fasting a bunch of times and tried to read what exactly going on in the body, but your video covered the bases! the experience is cool after 48-72hours water fasting is abit strange, so nice to understand the processes the occurs. But not sure it’s fully healthy :) thanks for sharing !
Very late but I'm thinking of trying this how did it work for you?
It's extremely healthy ask Dr Fung !
All it is, is allowing your body enough time to get into fat storage and actually use it. Nothing unhealthy about it if youre overweight. Aside from weight loss there are so many benefits with extended fasting that allows the body to heal.
Great video. Don't the muscles also store glycogen?
Please do a video on MCT and exogenous Ketones, any benefits and context
13:56 I cant hear exactly what is said, was it "every hour a percent of my glycogen is being utilized ... " ?
Thank you an excellent video. I am not a medical student but watch these videos because I am fascinated by how complex the human body is and I am sure that 99% of the World just have no idea how intelligent our body is!!! One thing I have not been able to understand is why our storage capacity of glycogen is so low in comparison to our storage capacity of fat. Could it be that we have evolved so that we only eat a small amount of food each day so that we quickly use the glycogen and then start utilising our body fat to give us energy and maintain a slim healthy body. Is this why when we eat carbs the body immediately tries to break these down and use them up ASAP?
Misspoke at 12:09. But damn your videos are great as usual
Phenomenal
what would you think about training on empty stomach after 14-hour fasting?
very nice class sir....like all your lectures..........love from india
This is great
So what you're saying is, if I eat less, I'll lose weight?
so what do I eat after a 12 to 14 hour fast?
was wondering what your thoughts was on the body running on ketones as the primary source and long term health benefits or damage.. cheers 🍻
Read my post further up. A keto lifestyle is the best way of eating in the world. Its a more efficient energy source than glucose for the brain and the body will make what glucose it needs. Do your body a favour and do it. The science is there
I’m interested to know why you have turned the comments off of your COVID videos?
So bottom line is we don’t need much sugar we don’t need much carbs =keto = healthy
Very nice explanation
I am.from.india
Okay I was thinking this was more of a prolonged fasting which I think is good for resetting glucose sensitivity
How a chance could create a such balance healthy precised system to maintain our glucose level in blood?!!
Yep, even a basic painting points to a painter. Yet the most complex system in the universe doesn’t point to a designer. A scientific impossibility!
Really nice mustache hope you kept it very unique impressive
Beneficial ...glucose is ? Aminoacides
My goodness.....🙈
Currently fasting it is ramadan 😂🌹
So like how does fasting effect our metabolism then? 🤔
It switches your body to being able to find fuel from its stores, rather than relying on food. So reverses insulin resistance and makes us metabolically healthy.
Now you all realized the benefits of fasting but, About 1400 years ago Allah (SWT) made it obligatory to all Muslims who are in condition.
Alhamdulillah for Islam.
Are you married?!!!! 😅😅😅
I thought I unsubscribed when you got all pushy on the jab. Why are you on my feed? I suppose because I listen to similar people that don’t push experimental medical procedures on the masses.
