    Dr. Hansen! You are crushing it with the video style you've adopted. I started following during Covid while I was gathering different perspectives and the content was good. Now the content is good but while you're adding these goofy drawings, they work! It's fun and the information is an order of magnitude quicker absorption. It's like IF x HIIT. I'm doing the things you've outlined and have been evolving over the past 10 years fighting IR and poor metabolic health. It is so hard and has been impossible to find a physician partner that bases their practice in the nutritional POV you espouse. I know I have caused severe damage during my life (A1C was 11, now 5.5). I want to evaluate and monitor damage, recovery progress. For example, can i determine through tests (blood, etc) current health (fat in liver, mitochondria function or DNA, meaning of triglyceride/LDL levels, evolved allergy, vascular damage). I'd like to have as detailed an evaluation as possible so i can address any immediate issues and monitor improvement through testing. I need someone like you in my area as my primary physician. Any suggestions on how to make that connection?

    I've implemented more fasting. When I wake up in the morning I would usually head straight to the kitchen and eat the usual breakfast. This would result in making me very tired due to a blood GLUCOSE AND INSULIN SPIKE. Now, I try to POSTPONE THE FOOD a few hours or even ELIMINATE THE BREAKFAST. Instead, i just have a coffee or tea and lemon water. Maybe a short WALK. I feel so much better! And NOT TIRED! Thanks doctor, lots of info here. Being on a keto diet for years and in my 50's, I ensure to eat a protein rich diet (chicken breasts, eggs, protein shakes) with a regular resistance and free weight training.
      I get comments on my muscular psyche all of the time. But it requires a consistent schedule because if I don't train for a couple of weeks due to being sick, it's insane how quickly I lose the muscle mass.

    • @Wildrosesmyl
      @Wildrosesmyl Před rokem +4

      @@MsElke11 Make sure that you're eating calcium rich foods during the time that you eat eg) dairy, broccoli/leafy greens, almonds, eggs, etc.
      If you can't incorporate those foods into your diet, then try dietary supplements of calcium carbonate.
      Also, make sure that you lift weights or keep your muscles strong as the strength of your muscles affect the density of your bones as you age.

      Many people (like me) eat in an 8 hour window daily. I stop eating by 8pm or thereabouts and won’t break my fast until noon the next day. 16 hours of fasting results in the body using the body’s stored fat and converts it to ketones. It becomes easier after you’ve done this for awhile. For me, I sleep better and am generally not hungry at bedtime. Good luck to you.

So, if that is what is needed, are those smoothies that are flax and proteins etc best done when you go to be to get through those 16 hours? I don't know if you have time to reply or not. But I took proton pump inhibitors 16 years ago for about a period of about 3 years. Starting on day one I fell into a complete collapse because I feel like the proton pump inhibitors not only targeted my stomach but it went systemic and affected my entire system. It is now 16 years later and I still have nothing but exhaustion and weakness everywhere. I'm trying to figure out how to unblock the effect that the proton pump inhibitors had. Recently I was given them again because I had ulcers. But they do have a systemic effect on me and make me worse. Intermittent fasting seems to be at least part of the answer to this problem. If I can produce new mitochondria that are not affected by the proton pump inhibitors and then my body can start over. I am just concerned that the proton pump inhibitors have never been cleared from my system and they just attack new mitochondria that are produced. It is like there is a binding process that takes a place in The Binding is either irreversible or part only partly reversible. If it was completely reversible my problem would have been over a long time ago. Do you know anything about the containment or removal of proton pump inhibitors that are poisoning the mitochondria? 16 years of my life have been ruined. I have constant insomnia and constant weakness and exhaustion. I had to retire early. I live like a zombie cuz my brain is fatigued as well. I can barely stand up and walk so I have no ability to do aerobic exercise. I am so weak I have to use a walker. Should I stop eating fruit since that is a source of fructose?

    What about the fructose in fruits, does it have the same effect as the fructose we intake as sucrose.
    Plzz answer .

    Question for your Dr. Mike. Are you saying that fruit is not good to eat much of as it contains fructose? If not, fructose from what foods are you speaking of?

    Hello Doctor Hansen my name is Moises I am 23 yrs old and I am contacting you because I need your help. My mother is 53 yrs old and recently had a cerebellar stroke and was recently diagnosed with a severe basilar artery stenosis of 90%. A few Interventional Neurologist told her that she only has 10% of life left due to the sever obstruction and there is nothing for them to do neither would surgery nor medications be able to help her to reduce the stenosis of plaque build-up specifically in the basilar artery and that whenever the Basilar artery does get eventually clogged then there will be a severe stroke leading to death because according to their explanation that's the primary source where the brainstem receives oxygenated blood supply. I really need your help in this situation because I don't know what to do nor how to help her. I would like to know doctor if there is any way to reverse my mother's arthro sclerosis and this basilar artery stenosis. It was caused by prolonged elevated levels of high LDL cholesterol and diabetes. She is currently taking Plavix, aspirin and atorvastatin. Thank you in advance, please help me doctor you're very knowledgeable expert and I have seen all your videos talking about the covid-19 pandemic and you have helped me alot. I believe that you may be able to help me further more than all the other Physicians I have spoken to. I need your help greatly and I understand that perhaps you might not get this message because it's simply a CZcams comment .I will also be following the advice on this youtube video. I dont want to loose my mom bc she is full of life, Thank you doctor for your help.

    Dr Hansen. I am really confused, I hear often that fructose/sugar are bad for you, and it is what leads to oxidative stress and mitochondria breakdown, as you pointed out in this video. However, you also suggest eating plenty of Fruits, which contains the very fructose you condemn. Can you help me understand this contradiction?

    • @wendypaw5786
      @wendypaw5786 Před rokem +3

      Fruits are not bad for you although they contain fructose. Left unprocessed they are high in fibre and water and vitamins which slows down digestion and thus doesn't spike insulin. However fruits should be consumed in moderation. Best to keep away from processed fruits such as canned fruits, dried fruits and fruit juices.

    One question I’ve always had: what if you break your fast with something tiny, how is it possible that your fasting window is entirely reset? For example: you’re 10 hours into a 20 hour fast. You eat one M&M candy. Does the body ramp up to process that sugar and then stay in that state for hours until you can get back to ketosis?

      Especially great content, video is packed with science. Thank you Doctor Mike! I have same question as David. If I have 1/2 cup of sugar-free almond milk or coconut milk with my morning coffee, did I break my fast by adding those 4-8 grams of fat, protein and fiber? What if I’m sipping and it takes me 3 hours to drink the latte?

      I think your fast is not totally gone if you are having something high fat; butter, cream, cheese, avocado, nuts, coconut. You eliminate the carbohydrates and this reduces or eliminates the glucose-insulin spike.

    Doctor Mike, I much appreciate these detailed elucidations on medical issues and health. I just would like to point out - by way of constructive 'criticism' - that the musical flourishes underneath your speaking voice are rather distracting and irksome, especially to us 33% (or so) auditory learners. It's like the muzak in an elevator or the mall, it just serves to numb the brain. Hope you will reconsider even if youtube academy appears to be pushing these supposedly for added production value, to enhance their own bottom line. greetings from The Netherlands

    in terms of DNL it seems that sucrose is as bad or slightly worse than fructose (maybe counter-intuitive, but outcome of a pretty recent research by Zurichs uni) So yeah, avoid those added sugars (the study also found that glucose (dextrose) has a much milder impact than sucrose/fructose)
