- In this video I'll be going over how to study for your computer science classes. This video will mainly be covering some big picture things for computer science, mainly the coding and lab parts of it, not so much the math, but overall effective study tips you can use for your compsci / coding classes!

yes please make another video with more tips god knows we need them
Lmao will do! Any specific topics? Planning on doing some discrete math or data structures soon but always can add more
I cannot agree more about making a friend in your program. There's been so many times just having someone else who knows what I'm talking about helped me through a problem, just talking through my code has helped me see my issues or come up with new solutions to try. And sometimes they know something I don't! It's saved me so much time and energy on problems that I used to spend all night on.
I plan on majoring in Computer Science this upcoming Fall but i'm not good at math. My biggest problem when it comes to math is learning the material and forgetting everything when a new course gets introduced.
Hey man! great video, hope to use these tips this semester. Keep up the good work and I think you'll make it big one day haha
Hey! Hopefully some of those tips help haha and thank you!! Just going to keep posting in 2021 and see where this goes :)
sometimes youtube is a platform that really help my study and i am really enjoy using youtube platform to searching the topic that i dont understand
My 2nd semester will be started soon and I found this useful video! hopefully I can stay sane as a computer science student till the end of the semester lol thank you so much for the tips!!!
I feel you there haha, I’m half way through my semester this year and I’m already looking forward to summer break, stick with it though, it gets easier the more you learn!
Does computer science have anything to do with too much memory retention? I like math but I don't like taking in too much notes like in biology for example
I love your voice. So calm.
nice video!
Hi great video Josh, could you make a video about studying tips for online subjects since where i live we're lockdowned due to corona, agian huge help really appreciated it.
I'm gonna fail at every subject this semester man. But I found this useful for the next semester lol. Also cool haircut bro
Haha hope everything went well so far, you got this! but glad it could help and thank you! haha, its the quarantine flow
I am a newbie at faculty of computing and IT and I am struggling to know how I should study and keep it together , thank you
Pls do more!!!
Left a like!
appreciate you :)
Hey josh, I just found you I really appreciate you for the tips.
Am just confused do I change my faculty or just keep learning it coz in my country I was learning cs, then i moved to Minnesota
Hi Joshua, I’ve watched some of your videos and I am finding them helpful so far. 😁But, I was wondering if you could please make a video on any resources you used outside of your classes to enhance your skills in programming? Like Coursera or Free Code Camp, or Udemy? Also I am very curious to know if you applied to any entry level jobs after you finished your associates ? If so sharing the experience in the tech field w an AS in CS would also be helpful to know! Hoping you can answer these in the future 🤞😄
Hey Jocelyn, I’m glad you’re liking them so far! I can definitely make a video on some outside resources that I use which help me with school / work! After getting my AS I got an internship doing front end dev at an organization by me and have been there for about 6 months, since I’m finishing up my bachelors, I didn’t want to work full time but I’ll be there until I’m graduating as an intern. A lot of my friends who stopped at their AS did get jr. developer jobs at companies (pretty much everyone who didn’t transfer to a 4 year) so I think there is definitely a market for jobs even without a 4 year
I’m also planning on making a video on how I got my internship and can definitely talk about that in that video as well!
it's really tough bc I had to start learning java since grade 8 and its been so harddd
What website can I practice coding
Wow
Ohh hello yaxon ;)
This should be helpful
Came here after I failed my very first CS course, 😔 realized I never really had a study method for this class
It happens to the best of us, I had to retake my first Java class, just graduated now! Just gotta keep going haha
yo part 2 would be lit
aye I got you! what topics would you like to know more in P2?
@@Joshua_Boaz I’ve been just struggling on exams, i guess for like finals coming up how do you study concepts and retain them. Cause in all my classes I understand the concept but I have a hard time memorizing/retaining. Anything would help tbh thanks bruh
@@vigneshpugazhenthi1099 bet for sure, I’ll think of some ideas on those for the next video as well!
raise ur voice bro people need energy when they watch youtube not meditation
Thank you for the tip! Something I gotta work on for future videos, pretty monotone in general haha
Summary:
- Look into online sources (YT or Google) teaching the topic that you're about to learn in class to familiarize yourself with the topic and retain it better. For more niche topics, try to google them and you will most likely find them tackled by GeeksforGeeks, StackOverFlow, W3Schools. Otherwise use CZcams (KhanAcademy helps)!
- Take advantage of IDE debugger and learn how to use it.
- Create a study group (or study with at least one person)
- Take advantage of office hours (talk to your TA or professor)
- Code along (as you're learning)
How do you form a study group?
I'm looking to form one but I haven't worked with one before
How I formed mine was by making a friend in the class and getting their number or discord and seeing if they wanted to study online on Zoom or FaceTime for an hour or two before a lab due date and just work on it together. After that just slowly seeing if more classmates wanted to study and getting like 2-3 people to bounce ideas off of and give/get help from really helped. For me it was just making that 1 friend and going from there
How I made that 1 friend was just either emailing someone seeing if they wanted to do a little study group or someone that I’ve worked with in the class during a group assignment or something, it’s definitely harder since we’re online but I think everyone is feeling that way
I am at grad 11now,I want to study computer science.
But I know nothing about it.It would be nice if you mention the things we should know before getting into college.
I’ll definitely make a video on that soon too, bet the summer would be great for that before people are going into their first year haha
Mate. I have 20 days to do 4 exams. My final exam, and 3 other exams. At this point I need to just pass. I procrastinated and now I pay. How do I study well and for long?
how did it go ??
@@sergeantromanovklov4378 bearly . . bearly passed with 50.9, but i am happy with that, i passed!
pt 2 plz
I’ll definitely do one again real soon!
1.111 sub nice
I cant find the video where you mention you're having a give away with one of your keyboard. lol
Haha I honestly don’t think that was me, that keychron is the only keyboard I have lol, maybe you’re thinking of Graham or Tala?
I made ur sub count 900
Yoo thank you! This is exciting, thanks for being the 900th in the milestone 😊
@@Joshua_Boaz omg ty for highlighting my comment means a lot that u actually respond back. ty for the tips. pls make more of these vids!
@@harshaprasanna8913 I try to reply haha but thanks again for the support!! i have a data structures and algorithms video planned real soon for everyone starting up the semester again lol
I dont have a computer, i still can code?
Thanks man but make videos more interactive
Definitely! Noted for the next ones haha
Jesus loves you ❤️
Speak clearly.
